Chapter 1510
Madeline Crawford and Jeremy Whitman
Madeline had just walked to the door of the room. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of Jeremy following closely behind her. As such, she stopped and turned her head.
Jeremy gave her a slight smile when he saw Madeline turning her head to look over.
He approached her gracefully. Then, he hesitated for two seconds before speaking, âIâm sorry you were wronged.â
ââ¦â Madeline was slightly stunned. She thought that Jeremyâs tone and gaze were a little off when he said this to her.
âMr. Whitman, arenât you going to blame me for fooling Mrs. Whitman just now?â Madeline asked.
âI donât think anyone is fooling my wife,â Jeremy replied with a smile. He was in a pretty good mood.
This puzzled Madeline even more, and it also made her speculate.
Just as he was about to speak, she saw Naomi approaching Jeremyâs back. As such, Madeline reached out and pushed open the door in front of her.
âMrs. Whitman is here, so you should go to comfort her first, Mr. Whitman.â
After Madeline finished speaking, she entered the room and locked the door.
She did not know if she was throwing a tantrum when she said that, but she was indeed infuriated when she looked at Naomi.
After Naomi saw Madeline entering her room, she walked to Jeremy to tell him about her grievances.
âJeremy, itâs just a misunderstanding. I didnât mean to remove Quinnyâs mask. I just did it out of concern and good intentions.â
Naomi said pitifully while looking at Jeremyâs cold and handsome face.
âJeremy, you know what kind of person I am in your heart. How could I do something that would embarrass others?â
Jeremy lifted his eyes to stare straight at the face in front of him. He said, âYouâre right. I know what kind of person Linnie is, so you donât have to explain anything to me.â
After Naomi heard that, she let out a sigh of relief. âJeremy, I knew youâd trust me.â
She said before reaching out to hold Jeremyâs hand. However, coincidentally, Jeremy placed his hand into his pocket. He took out his phone to make a call while walking away.
Naomi stood where she was and glared at the closed door in front of her in dissatisfaction.
âEveline, I didnât think youâd be so steadfast. Iâll make you pay.â
She growled, but at the same time, she sensed that this was going to get troublesome.
She was worried that Madeline would expose everything if she was pressed.
Even though she was disfigured, she had something else to prove that she was Eveline.
Her DNA!
She would not allow Madeline to have the opportunity to expose her true identity!
After this kerfuffle ended, Madeline did not mention it again. She would take one hour of her time every day to go to Adamâs place for treatment.
Madeline did not know if it was psychological or if it was because Adam was indeed a very skilled doctor. After half a month, Madeline felt that the color of the burnt area on her face had become lighter.
Scabs started to form on her wounds and they were starting to peel off. The scar on her forehead had faded as well and was not visible anymore.
Today was the 30th day of treatment. Madeline lay on the recliner and felt the cool liquid flowing across her face. She felt that it was soothing. There was no longer the hot, dry, and itchy sensation on her face anymore.
âYou can see the result half an hour after this cold compress.â Adamâs voice glided into her ears gently.
Madeline blinked nervously. Then, she saw Cathy coming in with some fruits and beverages from the corner of her eyes. She wanted to greet her but knew that Cathy did not recognize her now.
Madeline lay down quietly, this half-hour feeling like an eternity to her.
When the alarm clock rang, Madeline opened her eyes abruptly. She saw Adam smiling softly at her from one side.
âDonât be so nervous. Get up and wash your face before you look at your current face.â
