‘Proof?’

Naomi was stunned for two seconds, then she saw Madeline taking out her phone to open an app.

“Mrs. Whitman, you said a lot of people were filming at that time. Coincidentally, someone captured the moment you ripped my mask off of me. Will you only admit it if I show everyone the video?”

When she heard this, Naomi’s face looked even more horrid.

She wanted to go up and take a look but then Jeremy took Madeline’s phone and opened the video.

When she heard the sound coming from the video, Naomi was sure it was the video from the park that day.

She could hear a lot of people saying that Madeline’s face looked terrifying.

Naomi started to feel guilty. She thought nobody saw her when she ripped Madeline’s mask off. She did not expect someone to have captured the scene on video.

While she was feeling nervous, she saw Jeremy glancing over at her. This made Naomi even more nervous.

“Jeremy, I-I did mean to remove Quinny’s mask. It’s because she fell into the water and I was worried that her wounds might get infected, so that’s why I did that.” Naomi quickly found an excuse for herself.

When she heard that, Madeline burst out laughing.

“Mrs. Whitman, do you know what self-induced confession is? It’s what you’re doing now.”

“…”

“Nobody captured the video of you ripping my mask off. I lied to you, but your confession is even more convincing than any evidence now.”

“…”

Naomi’s face turned one shade paler.

Karen was confused after hearing that. “W-What do you mean?”

Madeline said calmly, “It means that this Mrs. Whitman is not as gentle and kind as the rumors made her out to be. Sometimes, she’s a little sinister too.”

“…” Naomi was speechless for a moment. Her expression looked even more horrible now.

“Quinny, I think you’ve misunderstood Eveline. She was only worried that you’d get infected by the lake water so that’s why she removed your mask to check. Eveline didn’t have any bad intentions.” Karen tried to explain on Naomi’s behalf.

Madeline knew Karen wanted to defend her real daughter-in-law, but she did not know the daughter-in-

law in front of her right now was just an imposter.

“Jeremy, do you want to believe me? I really bear no malice. We’ve been together for so many years, don’t you know what kind of person I am?”

Naomi walked over to Jeremy and said in a soft tone to use this opportunity to show her softer side.

She asked curiously with a look of grievance.

“Quinny, I’m grateful that you saved Lily and my mother, but why are you always targeting me?”

“Yeah, why am I always targeting you? It’s because you disgust me,” Madeline retorted, not showing any respect for Naomi at all.

Naomi was stunned, and the corners of her lips started twitching.

Madeline took back her phone from Jeremy and went upstairs.

Karen looked at Madeline’s carefree back and stood up bewilderedly. “Jeremy, what’s wrong with Quinny? It seems that she keeps targeting Eveline. We can’t let this continue. Even though she saved Lily and Eloise, how can we continue to let her stay here with that attitude? Why don’t we fire her?”

Jeremy nodded as if he was in deep thought. “I’ll talk to her.”

“Hurry, we can’t wrong Eveline.” Karen waved her hand. She was very protective of Madeline now.

Naomi frowned and had an aggrieved look on her face. As she cursed Madeline in her heart, she was also glad that Karen was siding with her.

However, she was a little anxious as well. Would anything happen when Jeremy went to talk to Madeline later? As such, she followed after him.
