Chapter 1275
Madeline Crawford and Jeremy Whitman
Sean recalled the incident that happened that day. His two brows furrowed as his expression became dark.
âEveline, there are some things I donât wish to tell you because Iâm afraid youâll be hurt.â Sean had a troubled look on his face.
âDad, tell me, what happened? All these years, Iâve endured all sorts of hurt. I can take it.â Madeline was determined to know.
Sean stared at his daughter, heartbroken. Then, he decided to blurt out everything that happened on that day.
âJeremy was the one who set the fire. I never thought that heâd obey Lanaâs instructions just because he lost his memories and would carry out such a cruel move.â
Madeline felt a pinch in her heart when she heard the answer given by Sean.
She clenched her fists and faced the fact.
âAlthough it was Lanaâs order, it was still Jeremy who did it.â
However, after experiencing Jeremyâs âdeathâ and suffering terribly because of it, she chose to deceive herself and forget about all the upsetting incidents.
She kept telling herself that Jeremy was being used by Lana and he was a victim himself too.
Nevertheless, she was grateful that Sean and Eloise were safe.
âEven though Mom is like a retarded kid, as long as sheâs alive, there will still be hope.â
Sean noticed Madelineâs dilemma and tapped her on her shoulder, with a heartwarm feeling.
âAlright, letâs not keep thinking about it. As long as we can still reunite as a family, thatâs all that matters to me.â
âIâm sorry, Dad.â Madeline apologized. âJeremy did such a terrible thing and nearly cost you guys your lives, yet Iââ
âYou didnât do anything wrong. You donât have to apologize,â Sean cut her short. If anyone were to apologize, it would be Sean as he had let his daughter down.
Madeline could not think of any words to say to Sean. Deep in her heart, she still loved Jeremy, the man who burned down her house and made her separate from her family.
At that moment, she heard Sean say gratefully, âItâs all thanks to Mr. Jones. If it isnât for him, your mom and I wouldâve been buried in the sea of flames.â
Madelineâs expression changed suddenly as she was puzzled. âDad, the Mr. Jones youâre talking about, are you referring to Ryan?â
As soon as she spoke, Ryan came walking in from the doorway.
Sean saw Ryan and immediately got up to welcome him with a smile. Madeline witnessed the grateful look on Sean when he welcomed Ryan.
âMr. Jones, thank you for allowing our family to reunite.â
Ryan put on a gentle smile and spoke politely, âDonât sweat it, itâs just a small matter.â
His attitude was like that of a gentleman, totally the opposite from when he was threatening and controlling her in the car.
Madeline looked at Ryan scornfully as she observed him walking to her side. He suddenly extended his arm around her shoulders.
âWell, Eveline is my lawfully wedded wife. You guys are also my family. For the sake of Eveline, itâs worth doing all this.â
His bright smile made Sean delighted.
Sean looked at Madeline for confirmation. âEveline, it looks like itâs real? Youâve already left Jeremy to be with Mr. Jones?â
âOf course.â Ryanâs eyes, which seemed to be smiling, met Madelineâs cold gaze. âRight, Eveline?â
Madeline could not deny it, and at that moment, she could only agree to it quietly.
