Chapter 143
Sweet Subterfuge
Chapter 143
Larissa got out of the taxi and walked briskly towards Lana.
Staring at Larissaâs backpack, Lana stretched out her palm. âWhere is the visitorâs pass?â
âI donât have a visitorâs pass.â Larissa said.
Lanaâs expression immediately darkened, and she demanded harshly. âThen why did you come here without a visitorâs pass? Are you here to see me make a fool of myself?â
Her brazer atillude annoyed Larissa. She had planned to ask the security guard she met last time to let Lana in, but she had now changed her mind.
âI made plans to meet a friend nearby, so I came here to let you know that I donât have a visitorâs pass.
Iâll be on my way now. You can try calling Mr. Rogers again. Maybe his meeting is already over.â
Suddenly, the automatic doors opened. âMs. Seymour
The security guard she was acquainted with appeared and greeted her warmly, âWhy have you come?â
Larissa quickly put on a smile. âjust happened to pass by.â
âOh?â The security guard was taken aback for a moment and smiled awkwardly. âWell I wish you a pleasant day!â
âThank you, and you too,â Larissareplied.
Lana watched their pleasant interaction and stopped Larissa as she lumed to leave.
âLarissa, do you know the security guard here?â
Before Larissa could speak, the security guard answered the question in her stead. âNo, not Itâs the other way around. We all know Ms. Seymour
âWhy?â Lana was puzzled.
âItâs a direct order from Mr. Rogers.â the security guard said with a nervous smile. âMr. Rogers made it clear that no one should impede Ms. Seymour from entering the building; otherwise, our entire department would be at risk of losing their jobs.â
Larissa was stunned by what she heard. Although her heart was surging with emotions, her face showed no trace of IL The security guard was probably exaggerating. She didnât remember Kevan saying such things previously.
With that thought, her raging emotions calmed down slightly.
On the other hand, Lanaâs spirits seemed to have dampened for unknown reasons.
âI am Ms. Seymourâs younger sister. Can you let me in now?â she asked the security guard.
Without a momentâs hesitation, the security guard shook his head. âMr. Rogersâs order applies only to Ms. Seymour. No one else can be
allowed in unless she keeps you company.â
Lana pursed her lips and squeezed out a smile. She wrapped her arms alleclionately around Larissaâs and pleaded coquettishly, âLarissa, since youâre already here, would you please bring me in?â
Larissa pretended to look at her phone. âIâm going to be late for the appointment with my friend. You should just wait for Mr. Rogers.â
âLarissa!â Lana let go of Larissaâs arm and clung tightly to her sisterâs waist like a scala. âPlease accompany me inside the building! I wonât take much of your time. You can come back down immediately
Considering Lanaâs esteemed hotel guest status. Lanssa couldnât forcefully push her away. Amidst the curious gazes of people passing by, Larissa agreed reluctantly. âFine.â
During her previous visit to the Microworks Building, Larissa had only been to Zernâs studio. She didnât know which loor Kevanâs office was on. However, she couldnât just openly ask the security guard for directions, as I would expose her as Kevanâs pretend allend.
While waiting for the elevator, she secretly sent a WhatsApp message to Dylan asking about it.

Dylanâs reply came almost immediately. It read. âHs presidential office is on the 69th floor,â
âWhatâs the matter? Are you coming to see him?â
âDo you have something to tell him? Or are y
you just having a meal together?â
âHave you told him about this? Do you need my help to surprise him?â
His messages kept popping up one after another.
Larissa repled to the last message. âYes, Lana came to thank him for saving her last night.â
Dylan sent another message. He wrote. âI saved her last night too. Why isnât she thanking me?
