Sweet Subterfuge
Chapter 142
At 7 am, Ladssa was roughly awakened by Lana. They had only slept for less than two hours.
As they walked to the supermarket, Larissa couldnât stop yawning. She had to put in much ellort to keep her drooping eyelids open; otherwise, she would just fall asleep at any second.
On the other hand, Lana was full of energy. She seemed to have forgotten everything that had happened yesterday. âHurry up, Larissa! If we are late, we wonât be able to buy fresh ingredients!
Dragging her sister. Lana walked at a brisk pace.
The supermarket was different from the tamersâ market. It officially opened at 0.30 am.
When they arrived, the store clerks were still moving boxes of freshly delivered vegetables into the supermarket. Some shelves were still empty, and no one was at the weighing station or the checkout counter.
Standing at the entrance of the supermarket, Lana complained, âLarissa, why didnât you tell me that they open at 8.30 am? III had known would have pul on some makeup before leaving!â
Larissa was too exhausted to even argue with her.
Lana asked one of the store clerks to help her choose a whole chicken, two pork ribs, and some vegetables. She counted on her fingers as she listed cff the items she needed for her meat âWould it be enough if I prepared a roast chicken, mushroom soup, and some barbecued pork ribs?â
Larissa answered drowsily. âIt should be enough.â
âLarissa, do you know how to cook these dishes? Lara asked sheepishly.
Ubon hearing that Larissa instantly woke up. âHUN?â
Somewhat embarrassed, Lana mumbled. Iâve never co cked before, so I might need your hela.â
However, it tum rd out that Lana needed more than just some help. She hardly knew anything about cooking. She had no idea that pork ribs needed to be blanched or how to properly marinale a chicken.
Besides that, she didnât know the cooking time and the required oven
temperature for roasting a chicken, Furthermore, she couldnât even cut up vegetables or operate the oven.
After Lana acc certally splashed hot oil on her hand and dropped the pan in fright, Larissa reached her breaking point and promptly chased her cut of the kitchen. âIll do the cooking, You Just tel. Mr. Rogers that you made the dishes yoursellâ Larissa sald.
âHuh?â Lana bit her Ep in hesitation. âIs that okay?â

Lana grinned immediately and hugged her from behind happily. âThank you so much, Larissa!
Larissa offered to take Lana to the Microworks Building, but she refused. Tll go by mysell. Youâve been through a lot since last night. You should have a meal and gel a good sleep.â Lana sounded like a considerate little sister.
Larissa didnât really want to go out either. Since Lana insisted, she agreed without any argument.
However, right after finishing her meal, she received ad stress call from Lana.
âLarissa, please come to the Microworks Building right now! The security guard wonât let me In without a visilorâs pass!â
âDidnât you call Mr. Rogers? Larissa asked her.
Before leaving, Lana specifically asked her for Kevanâs phone number so that she could contact him when she arrived at his office.
âI called, but no one answered. Heâs probably in a meeting.â Lana urged anxiously, âPlease bring me the visitorâs pass before the food
turns cold?
Larissa was about to say that she didnât have a vis torâs pass either, but Lana had already hung up,
Larissa sighed. It seemed like her plan to take an afternoon nap was ruined once again.
Due to her extreme latique, Larissa didnât dare to drive hersell so she took a tad to the Microworks Building.
Lana stood outside holding a bag while a security guard watched her intently from inside the automatic doors.
As soon as Larissa appeared, Lana waved at her, âLarissa! Over here!â
