Chapter-31
His Symphony
Leaving her after that night was really tough especially when her warm body was hugging mine.
The way she layed sprawled over the bed with her beautiful locks covering a portion of her face. Her eyes closed, breathing slow and her heady fragrance which had me enamoured.
Ocassionly she would move, her cute button nose will twitch and she would murmur something still in deep sleep, then she would move more closer in my embrace.
I spend the whole night watching her.
The sun came but my eyes were not tired instead they were busy inscripting every feature of her in my brain.
I notice the faint mole just below her lips, the small mark on head maybe from an injury and that she got her ears pierced twice.
That was the first sleepless night I didn't mind. I was more than happy with my insomnia kicking in.
I look at my watch, it still early in morning. She must be sleeping.
A flash of light makes me look up and I hear the sound click followed by a thank you from the photographer.
I turn my side to look at the bride standing.
I was so busy in kuhu's thought that I lost sense of my surroundings. It's bad, this is happening a lot. I need to control my emotions. I am acting like a teenager.
"Congratulations on your wedding."
I wish morreti's daughter, her husband joins in.
"Thank you capo, it wouldn't have been possible without your support."
He says with gratitude.
My eyes were fixated on the troubled expression of Anya(Moretti's daughter).
Something is amiss.
"Hmm but I hope to get that intel on the attack at my artillery basement."
His expression shifts to a stern one and he nods.
The whole reason of attending this stupid wedding was the intel on the attack.
No other reason was big enough to make me leave my sweetheart alone in the bed after last night.
"Yes, I have that man locked up. I would take you to him right..
"No need son in law, you have just married my daughter. Focus on your marriage and her. I will take the mafisio capo to that man."
Moretti cuts off.
This bastard has something up his sleeve. I know he won't back down easily, now that I have ruined his plan of marrying off his daughter into mafisio.
"Hope you are ready, my boy."
He says cheekily while smirking.
"The question is are you ready, Mr Moretti? And I'll have no regrets in showing you who is a boy?
So talk to me respectfully if you want people here to leave with all their limbs."
I say while pushing my hands in my pocket and moving closer to him.
His looks in my eyes for a moment deciding on whether to choose his pride or life. I lift my eyebrow asking is he challenging me?
But he soon bows his head accepting my power.
"This way Lorenzo."
He says
"I prefer Mr, accardo."
I say and move past him.
Angleo also walks alongside me. There is something fishy here. Something is not right.
"Angleo, I want every detail about this Moretti when we leave. He is onto something."
I tell him.
"Yes, capo."
He nods
Soon we sit inside our cars and drove off to the link that Moretti holds.
I sit inside my room and watch the moon. The day has turned into night but still there is no sign of Lorenzo.
My anxiety is increasing with each passing second. I need answers. I feel like I have so much to ask but yet don't know what to ask?
I fiddle my thumb and look at the clock again, as if time will pass fast with my constant gazing.
The silence of the room is broken by the sudden opening of my room's door. I jolt and look up to see an aged man entering the room.
Grey hair, dark black eyes, huge stature and height. He looks eeriely similar.
"So, you are the girl."
He says, his voice laced with rich Italian accent.
"Pardon me sir but I am unable to recognise you."
I say
He chuckles and says
"How can you recognise me, you are just too busy warming my son's bed."
"Excuse me."
I say anguished and shocked.
It takes me a few seconds to register his words.
He is lorenzo's father.
No wonder he looked familiar but his eyes, they hold no warmth, instead they are dark and filled with malice.
He moves in and sits on the chair facing me. He moves his one leg over the other, leans back and says
"What happened the truth was too much to handle? I was not even being brutual, miss."
"Now that you have left all your pride as a women and decided to establish a romantic relationship with a married man you must get accustomed to words like WHORE."
"He is married."
I say reconfirming elena's doubt.
The small hope that bloomed in my heart was extinguished.
"Oh, sweetie you didn't knew. But does it matter after all you are following your mother's footsteps of being a mistress."
"Sir, mind your words. You are talking about my mother."
I say with my full might. My body burns with fury on such derogatory mention of my Mum.
"I mind my words, you mind your actions. You barge into my son's life and destroy his home. You should be mindful of that girl's home you are breaking by your vile actions."
He says equally anguished.
"I didn't know your son was married and he kidnapped me. I never intended to be a homebreaker. I never did that."
I say with my voice hurt over being ridiculed as a mistress.
"Oh, so you didn't know. But you know now what are you doing now? Are you leaving now?"
"Bbut but he won't let me go."
I say
"I will make sure you leave, not this city but the country. Will you leave then?"
He asks.
His question is met by silence. I just stand there and look at him. I should leave, I must leave then why does the thought of leaving that man is so hurtful.
"There you proved it. Blood is thicker than water. No matter what you do that characterlessness is inherent."
"Like mother, like daughter.
Bloody whores."
He spits.
"Enough! My mother was a noble lady. Don't even mention her and about leaving, book me a flight by 12 am so I can leave as soon as possible."
I say and feel my tears escaping.
"I want to leave your son too so please help me leave him, this city and this country."
"I shall be greatful to you."
I say the words which are breaking my heart.
But my respect is over my love.
I shall never be the other women.
I repeat that sentence in my mind again and again.
"Okay, be prepared by tomorrow morning, you'll be out of Italy for good."
He says and leaves.
While I stand there and contemplate how did everything turned so bad?
