ADITI'S POV:

here i am, sitting in front of this jerk who has a wide grin spread over his face. how i wish i could wipe that grin off their face.

ADITI: stop smiling like a fool..! you're teeth will come off.

SATHVIK: awww shouldn't you be a bit more nicer? i am going to help you get your grades up afterall.

ADITI: ughh you're so annoying..!

SATHVIK: annoying and cute anddddddddddd devilishly handsome..!

ADITI: ughhh get lostt!

he laughed out sooo loud that all the eyes were on us now. ohh how i wish i could bang his head on the table.

you all must be wondering how i ended up being here with him and how he's going to help me with my grades.

well, let's have a flashback..! (even though i hate it)

flashback:

ADITI: ma'am..! this is not done! please...!! i'll be okay with anyone else!! but not him pleasee!

PROF: aditi, you're already late. i had given you the option to choose your own volunteer. but you told me to choose one for you as you knew no one. now that i've already spoken to sathvik and he's agreed to be the volunteer for your assignment besides his tight schedule, you're throwing tantrums here? i didn't expect this from a student like you.

ADITI: but ma'am he-

PROF: enough is enough aditi..! here's the offer. take him or get ready to lose your credits for this assignment.

ADITI: okay ma'am. i'll work with him.

flashback end.

so here i am. stuck with him. for an assignment. we have to take notes on life of sports students of our campus and note down the different activities they do and the different medical problems they face. we need to figure out what injuries they might face or what infections they're more prone to and make a report on it and present it as well.

we were given the liberty to choose our subject(volunteer) for the assignment but my introvert as well as lazy ass was unable to find a volunteer and since the deadline was nearing, i requested our professor to find a volunteer for me. hence, i was ill-fated to be with him.

ADITI: okay so let's start with your daily routine.

SATHVIK: sure peanut.

ADITI: can you please stop calling me that?

SATHVIK: no i can't. now let's continue.

i let out a frustrated groan but chose to continue anyway.

ADITI: okay so i want to know all the activities you indulge in since you wake up.

SATHVIK: i wake up. check my phone. and then i get ready to go jogging.

ADITI: next?

SATHVIK: oh come on..! don't you need details of how i go on jogging?

ADITI: no i don't think-

SATHVIK: i'll give you the details anyway. so i get up from bed. wear a t-shirt with my jogging shorts-

ADITI: stop!

SATHVIK: then i put on my shoes followed by head phones. i like to listen to songs while jogging. well girls like to see me jogging you know-

ADITI: i said to stop dammit! stop for god's sake! you've irritated me enough!! what do you think of yourself huh? that you're a big stud? you're nothing but a clown who is liked by a lot of girls that's it! what is your purpose huh? nothing else! you're irritating!! it was my bad luck that i had to accept you as my volunteer while you can be of no use! you just know how to get under my skin and trouble me! all you do is flirting and playing with girls. what do you think?? all of this makes you look cool? you just look characterless-

SATHVIK: stop it!! its enough now!! never have i done anything disrespectful towards you or any other girl for that matter..! i have a fucking busy schedule and yet i agreed to help..! not because i wanted to flirt with you! but because i thought you might genuinely fail if you don't get a volunteer. and keep this in you're mind. you are no one to judge my character! if a guy can't judge a girl's character then the girls must know their boundary too..! and don't worry..! i won't be your volunteer anymore.

ADITI: you-

before i could say anything he walked away from there. that is when i noticed all the people in the canteen looking at us. i had started shouting at him in front of these many people? he shouted at me too.. but it wasn't his fault. i over reacted. he never passed any filthy comments that could make me uncomfortable neither did he touch me inappropriately. i shouldn't have commented on his character.

i was busy in my own thoughts when a friend of mine approached me.

HER: aditi, you went overboard. just because he is popular that doesn't mean you can comment on his character. in fact it was other girls who approached him and confessed their feelings. he just rejected them politely and offered to be friends to not break their hearts. if the girls were adamant he used to take them to a coffee and speak to them politely and make them understand in a gentle manner. he's a good guy aditi. you should apologize to him.

i just nodded at her. i definately need to apologize.

ADITI: how do you know all of this by the way?

HER: *sigh* i was one of those girls.

i just nodded with a shocked face.

okay aditi. you need to apologize. what you did was not acceptable. but before that. i need to face the professor's wrath. and find a new volunteer.

i don't know why but working with someone else just didn't feel right.

time skip

next day.

i am sitting in front of my professor, ready to face her wrath but all she did was to release a long sigh.

PROF: sathvik said he's busy and can't be your volunteer. he says both of your timings differ so he suggested to swap with one of his friends. you have a new volunteer now. he'll work with someone else.

i just sat there blank. i didn't know what to reply. he had backed away from being my volunteer but didn't leave me helpless at the same time. he arranged someone else for. damn aditi you fucked up.

PROF: see aditi, i don't know what it is between you both but sathvik is a really good guy. i know him personally and he at once agreed to help you as he genuinely cared about your grades. he would've done the same for any other girl. but now since you have a new volunteer as you initially wished-

ADITI: i want to work with sathvik.

professor frowned

PROF: look aditi this is not a game. you can't-

ADITI: i know i am wrong and i'll make sure to apologize to him. but can you please keep this on hold? i'll surely talk to him to work with me. but please don't swap my volunteer.

PROF: okay aditi. but if he's reluctant of swapping then i can't help.

i gave her a slow and understanding nod and came out of her cabin. i'll have to look for him at this very instant and apologize.

i rushed towards the football field and found him playing.

damn he looked awesome. his face is scary, and focused at the same time while he plays unlike his usual cheerful and flirty face. i remembered his face from yesterday's incident. it was emotionless. just the thought of it gives me chills.

i was lost in my thoughts when i saw him approaching the stand to drink water.

Okay aditi, this is your moment..! grab it and apologize.

ADITI: sathvikk!!

he turned around but frowned upon finding me there. he ignored me and was about to return to the field when i shouted.

ADITI: sathvik please. listen to me once. i have something to tell you.

he just sighed and came near me.

SATHVIK: look aditi, if this about your assignment then don't worry, i've spoken to the professor. my friend is willing to work with you-

it felt completely foreign when he called me by my name and not that silly pet-name he had given me.

ADITI: i want to work with you!

he looked at me dumbfounded.

SATHVIK: huh? what?

ADITI: yes i want to work with you. i am sorry i know i messed up. i shouldn't have spoken to you that way. you were just helping me by being my volunteer but i just insulted you. i promise i didn't have any intention of doing so. its just that after aayat's marriage i've been a bit low. it feels empty without her and the assignment deadline was nearing and i was frustrated. i really regret what i did yesterday. i am really sorry. please forgive me and work with me?

SATHVIK: but i already told the professor.

ADITI: you don't have to worry about that. i've spoken to her already.

he just nodded.

ADITI: sooooooo.......  am i forgiven? will you work with me?

he gave me his usual grin and nodded.

my face had a huge smile and i felt damn relieved..!

ADITI: so friends??

i said as i forwarded my hand for a handshake.

SATHVIK: awwww peanut you want to be friends with me??

i made a blank face to which he responded with a soft chuckle.

SATHVIK: suree! let's be friends...!

he shaked my hand with extra energy.

he isn't that bad.

maybe he was really good.
