Chapter 1217
The Untouchable Ex-Wife
Stefan knitted his brows and carefully put Seraphinaâs hands down, then said lightly, âDidnât I ask you to wait for me at home? Why did you come here?â
âI was worried about you, so I pestered Mr. Young to tell me where you are. After that, I took the earliest flight to come see you.â Seraphina clung to Stefan intimately.
âThat blabbermouth had one jobâ¦â Stefanâs handsome face was filled with fury, and his gaze was frighteningly cold. The reason he didnât want Seraphina here was because a dangerous place like this was unsuited for a naive young lady like her.
âStefan, you look unhappy. Didnât you miss me?â Seraphina pouted.
âIâm happy youâre here, but you shouldnât have come.â
âWhy not? This is a well-known tourist spot, so I came to visit. Do you really think theyâd kidnap me and sell me?â
âYou have no idea what the people here would do to you, especially since you came alone. Youâre lucky nothing happened to you, or else, Iâd feel guilty for the rest of my life.â Stefan reached out and gently touched Seraphinaâs face. âYouâre my fiancee. Donât make me worry about you.â
âDonât worry, Iâm the lady of the Murphy family, so no one would dare to touch me. See! Iâm fine.â
Seraphina batted her eyelashes at him coquettishly and twirled around. Then, she looked at Renee and flashed her a fake smile. âMiss Everheart came here alone too. Sheâs fearless even though her family is so poor and shabby. Sheâs safe, so what should I be afraid of?â
Renee was speechless. She sneered, âThank you for your concern, but Iâm only safe because Iâm lucky. My friend nearly lost her kidneys, Miss Murphy, so donât let your guard down. Who knows⦠You might wake up with no organs.â
Seraphinaâs face turned livid before she gritted her teeth and said, âMiss Everheart, are you worried about me or are you cursing me? I have the Murphy family to back me up as well as Stefanâs protection, so Iâm very safe. I suggest you mind your own business.â
Renee spread her hands and said indifferently, âI was just trying to be nice ⦠Well, forget it. Do whatever you want!â
Seraphina ignored Renee and turned to Stefan. âStefan, arenât you here for work? Why are you with Miss Everheart? And why are you in the hospital?â
âAn old friend of mine encountered some trouble, so I came to help,â Stefan said vaguely.
âAn old friend?â Seraphina hurriedly asked, âWhat kind of old friend? Why is your friend here? Do I know your friend?â
âNo, you donât, so you donât have to ask.â He quickly ended the discussion. He didnât want to expose too many things to her.
He knew that this kind of mentality was wrong. After all, Seraphina was his fiancee and future wife.
Logically, he should talk to her about anything that happened in his life.
Unfortunately, he didnât feel like he wanted to. He had no memory of Renee, and there was resentment between them, but for some reason, he wanted to talk to her and tell her everything.
Meanwhile, Renee was feeling like a third wheel. Finally, she cleared her throat and said awkwardly, âAhem, well⦠Master Hunt, can I go now since your fiancee is here and you donât need someone else to eat with you?â
âNo.â Stefan refused her and explained snidely, âYes, I have someone to eat with, but I need a plaything to relieve my boredom.â What?â
