Chapter 186

Comeback Of The Adored Heiress

Chapter 186:

“I also want to know what Evie did to threaten Kian,” a commenter typed. Kian replied in the comments section, “Evie has never really become popular and has been under a lot of mental pressure. She tried to harm herself multiple times, but I stopped her each time. I felt sorry for her, so I agreed to be with her, hoping it would help her recover. I only wanted to help; I never had feelings for her.” Kian portrayed himself as a good person.

The online community was skeptical, but their criticism softened. Just then, Larson, Evie’s agent, stepped in. He publicly supported Kian, stating, “I’m truly sorry for all the negative news. Evie has been struggling emotionally for a while, and we’re grateful for Kian’s efforts. Evie will now take some time to rest.”

The netizens, who had been doubtful just moments before, noticed Evie’s agent defending Kian. Why wouldn’t they believe it?

“So, Evie was at fault all along. Kian tried to help her, yet she turned against him. How disgraceful!”

“Kian is so unfortunate. He’s so kind, yet people still criticize him…”

After reading the comments, Teresa felt a wave of relief wash over her.

Meanwhile, at the Johns family’s home, Madisyn was on the phone with Evie in her bedroom.

“Madisyn, Kian is so despicable!” Evie exclaimed, disgust and resentment clear in her voice. “And Larson is a scoundrel!”

Madisyn reassured her, “It’s good that we see their true colors now. Have you prepared everything I asked for?”

Evie replied, “Yes, everything’s ready. Should I release it now?”

“Not yet,” Madisyn said, catching Evie off guard.

Evie questioned, “Why not? When do you think we should release it?”

Madisyn explained, “Public opinion is still spreading. If you post it now, people online will likely hold back and wait to see what happens. They won’t believe you right away. The situation is too uncertain at the moment. It’s better to wait two days when the news has spread more widely. That way, you’ll attract more attention and gain greater trust.”

“Oh, I see. Madisyn, you’re so clever! Have you studied public relations?” Evie admired.

“You pick up a few tricks here and there.”

“You’re amazing.”

Taking Madisyn’s advice, Evie decided to hold off on releasing the information for now.

As predicted, the news continued to circulate. Two days later, the Johns Group’s mid-year event began, inviting everyone to Dillon Manor. Many attendees had never visited before and were in awe.

“This place is absolutely stunning! I’ve never been to a manor before—this is my first time.”

“This place is indeed magnificent. I’d be happy to work here for the rest of my life.”

The group marveled at their surroundings, clearly impressed. However, Teresa remained composed. Liza, trying to contain her excitement, asked Teresa, “Do you come here often?”

“Well, I live in a manor, so it’s nothing new to me,” Teresa replied, attempting to sound nonchalant.

“Oh, I’m so jealous! Can we visit your place sometime?” Liza asked eagerly.

A few others joined in, curious about the Johns family home, which they assumed must be even grander than Dillon Manor. Teresa kept her calm facade, though she felt a twinge of annoyance at their eagerness. “Let’s talk about it later,” she said dismissively.

“Okay. Let’s go check out the rooms now,” Liza suggested. They headed into one of the villas, where the rooms were assigned by drawing lots.

The most stunning room was the sea-view room on the third floor. It was the largest in the villa, featuring a beautiful balcony where guests could relax. Madisyn happened to draw this room.

As soon as she set down her suitcase, she noticed a few people standing outside, enviously eyeing the room. Madisyn didn’t mind and even let them in to take a look.

Everyone admired the balcony. “This balcony is amazing! Imagine having drinks here in the evening.”

“Yeah, and the room is so spacious.”

Madisyn stayed quiet, understanding their curiosity as they explored.

Suddenly, Liza called out, “Madisyn!” Madisyn turned to her.

Liza continued, “You should give this room to Teresa. It’s a waste for you to have such a large room all to yourself.”

Madisyn tilted her head, wondering if she’d heard correctly. “And wouldn’t it be a waste for her to have it all to herself?”

“Teresa is a Johns. We’re here because of the Johns Group. Naturally, the best room should go to her,” Liza asserted. “We should be good to Teresa. The Johns Group will surely notice if they see us treating her well.”

Teresa hadn’t considered this before, but Liza’s suggestion sparked her imagination. She began picturing herself enjoying the beautiful room. With her arms crossed, she waited for Madisyn to hand over the room.

Madisyn remained expressionless. “If you want to flatter Teresa, that’s your business. Don’t drag me into it.” She called out Liza’s intentions, leaving her slightly embarrassed.

“What are you talking about, Madisyn? I wasn’t flattering her. We’re colleagues; isn’t it normal to help each other out?” Liza retorted.

“Help each other? How come you didn’t help me then?” Madisyn shot back with a sneer. “You’re trying to throw your colleagues under the bus to impress Teresa. But why should I be the one sacrificed?”
