Chapter 81 | Our family

Babies are hectic to handle. On top of that to handle a new born along with 3 other kids is hard too. Yes it's a great adventure but it is also tiring as hell. These few months Ahana and Neil had to experienced these feeling after about 4 years or so. Things seemed new to them but at the same time it felt natural.

They struggled as they handled the baby's tantrums as well as the kids problems. They had to balance their time to give the kids and baby enough time everyday. Some days were so hectic, Ahana had started to cry at the night. but together they handled everything perfectly.

As if now, Neil entered his room after returning from office. He entered his room tired as he throw his coat on the chair and loosed up his tie when he heard a squeal and clapping. A smile came upon his face as he turned to the noise to see his Daughter. His 10 months old Navya standing in her crib as she held onto the railing. A huge grin on her face as she watched her father.

Neil:"Hey...sweetheart "( He said as he picked her in his arms and kissed her forehead while she giggled in his arms)"What's my baby doing huh?"

He heard the washroom tap close indicating that Ahana was inside. He walked towards the bed and sat down with Navya in his arms.

Neil:"So princess. Mumma left our poor baby alone huh? My baby was bored hmm?"( Neil cooed as he tickled her slightly as she squealed laughing)

Ahana:(Entering the room as she wiped her face with the towel)" Oh...You came"

Ahana headed and sat next to Neil as he played with Navya in his arms. Ahana sat on the bed lost in her thoughts when she felt her hair being pulled. She looked towards her side to see Neil looking at her worried while Navya smiling as she played with Ahana's hair on her figures.

Ahana:(Untangling her hair from Navya's Fingers before she kissed her small hand)"What happened Baby...Navu wants to eat ?"

Navya just kept herself busy as she chewed on a toy she got in her hands. Neil saw Navya busy and turned to Ahana.

Neil:"What happened shona? You seemed lost in your thoughts today"

Ahana:(Sighed)"Nothing Neil. Shruti called today."

Neil:"Shruti?"

Ahana:"You might not remember but when we went bowling for the first time. I met a friend there. She is shruti"

Neil:"How can I forget our first unofficial date"

Ahana:(Laughs)"You would have burned a hole in anger to a person who said this that day "

Neil:"Well time changed and so have I. That time I was the broken Neil. Now I am your Neil."( He said as he leaned in a kissed her cheek)

Ahana:(Eyes widen)"Neill! Baby!"

Neil:(laughs)"oh common shona she wouldn't understand a think. "

Ahana:"Stop going off topic."

Neil:"Ok okay...So what happened?"

Ahana:"Well she called. Apparently my college batch is having a reunion. Everyone is invited with family. She was asking if we will join. I said no. But she kept insisting so I said I'll see."

Neil:"Why don't you want to go. Ahana it's a great opportunity. You meet your old friends. Plus I'd love to see your college and meet you friends "

Ahana:"I would love that too Neil if things were normal, but they aren't "

Neil:"Meaning?"

Ahana:"Neil... you that college is where Rajeev and I met. Where our...well it has memories. And most importantly our batchmates. They all think I and Rajeev are married. No body knows what has happened in these 8 to 9 years. It will be awkward for you if they bring up Rajeev or if we have to explain everything again"

Neil:"Shona your overthinking again. Ahana I would never feel awkward with anything related to you. You know how much I love, support and trust you. Plus college reunions have always been a blast. I suggest we should go. As for your friends and their questions, Why not leave that for the moment when asked. Why worry about something that's not even happening now. Okay tell me one thing. If all this Rajeev matter was not there would you have wanted to go"

Ahana:"I would. I want to show you my college and meet my friends. I want to meet them as well. We haven't been in contact in a while due to our busy lifes."

Neil:"Well then that settles it. We will go. And don't worry as long as we are together we can handle things perfectly. Now when is this reunion "

Ahana:"Tonight. At 8"

Neil:"And your college would be open at night?"

Ahana:"Well one of my batchmate was trusty's kid. So he got permission or something. I am not fully sure"

Neil:"Alright. Then let's get our princess ready for today what say.."( He said as he tickled Navya who giggled)" Navu wants to see Mumma's College huh? oh yes she does"

Ahana:(Smiled as she leaned in and kissed Neil's cheek lovely)"I love you Neil... I truly feel blessed to have you in my life"

Neil:(Teasingly)"Now Navya won't see?"

Ahana laughed as she hugged Neil snuggled into him as she buried her face in his chest while he held her with one arm and the other held Navya. Ahana layed in such position feeling peaceful in her husband's arms.

Few hours later...

Neil parked the car in the college parking lot which was mostly empty with 10 to 12 cars present. Ahana got down of the car with Navya in her arms as she brushed her Navya's dress and pulled her while top down. She has wore a top and Jean's for the occasion and the kids and Neil were also dressed simple yet elegant way. Ahana and Neil opened the back gate as the 3 munchkins came out.

Aryan:"Mummaaa...This is your school "

Ahana:"yes baby"

Ansh:"It's sooo big..."

Naira:"I want to go here"

Neil:(Picking up Naira in his arms)"Oh you will sweetheart when you grow up. This school is for big kids. Common let's head in"

They headed to the entrance where the guard asked them for the invite to reunion. Ahana showed him the invite as he let them in and directed them to the room of reunion.

As Ahana and Neil walk through the ground of the college, The kids run in front in joy while Ahana looked around feeling the memories come back. Some that have turned bitter now and some that brought back her childhood. She felt a hand intertwine with her as she looked down and saw Neil's hand. She looked into his eyes as he gave her a small smile bring her mood up .

They arrived at the part of the garden of the college where the reunion party was set up. As they entered, Ahana eyes went on multiple people settled and chatting. Some known to her while others unknown.

Shruti:(Seeing Ahana come)"Omg Ahana you here..."( She came forward to hug Ahana but stopped seeing Navya in her arms)"Waitt...were you...OMG girl.. seriously and you didn't tell me"

Ahana:(Smiled softly as She looked at Navya)"Yeah... Thinks were complicated at that time."

Shruti:"Okay I'll let it slide. Now come let's meet everyone "( Ahana turned to Neil and smiled as he nodded and they moved forward with the kids by their side while Navya was now in Neil's arms)

Shruti:"Guysss Ahana is here"

Neil watched as multiple people came and hugged Ahana and Asked how she was. Some looked close to her them other. Neil stood back as he let her reunite with her friends. He chuckled slightly seeing everyone Bomb Ahana with questions when one question froze both Neil and Ahana.

Man:"Ahana where is Rajeev. I am gonna kill him today. That dude just disappeared for years like this is his friendship huh"

Ahana smiled dropped as she looked back at Neil. She sighed a little as she stepped back making everyone to look at her confused.

Ahana:"There is someone I would like you all to meet. Neil.."( Neil came forward as he wrapped his free arms around Ahana's waist making everyone expect Shruti gasp)"Guys. Meet Neil Malhotra my Husband. And Neil these are my college friends."

Neil:"Hello everyone "

Ahana:"And Shurti. You wanted to Meet Ansh and my other kids na. Here they are."( She said as she signaled her kids to come forward)" This is Aryan. This is Ansh. And This is Naira. And That...She is navya"

A slightly whisper started as everyone started talking about the unexpected events. Neil Felt Ahana's fear came back as he sighed.  He turned to the kids.

Neil:"Aryan. Baby why don't you take you brother and Sister to play over their where the rest of the kids are"

Aryan:"Okay Papa"( He said as he rushed of with Ansh and Naira to a little far area where stuff was set up for kids to play like bouncy castle and other activities )

Neil:( He turned to everyone else)"I know it's confusing and most of you all are wondering about Rajeev. well I just want to say that yes. Rajeev and Ahana were married. They even had Ansh. But then something happened and Rajeev he.."( Neil didn't know what to say about Rajeev. He wasn't sure if he should just say that Rajeev died or he cheated or he what)

Ahana:"Rajeev commit Crimes. Serious one at that. He cheated and He ...He fled. Maa wanted me to Move on so Me and Neil we remarried."

Person:"Wait but Aryan look older then ansh"

Ahana:"Because he is. Neil was also married before to Aarti. His previous wife. They had Aryan and Naira. But she...She died."

Neil:(Intertwine his hands with her.)",We both came together for our kids but truly became each others.

Navya lets out a small sound causing the attention to turn towards Navya Who was curiously playing with Neil's shirt's buttons. Neil smiled at her cuteness as he kissed Navya's cheeks while she giggled feeling ticklish.

Shruti:"I guess that enough story time for today. The past is gone so we all should move forward. And I am truly happy for you  both."

Guy:"Yeah guys let's enjoy the night"

Everyone settled down as random stories and talks began. Laughter and Shouts filled the grounds.

Girl:"Now talks are getting boring. Let's play a game."

Guy:"Ok what?"

Shruti:"Couple dance. The paper one. Where when the music stops the paper is folded and if you step of you lose "( Multiple agreement came as the group started to set it up)

Shruti:"Common Ahana Neil. Why are you standing get a paper and come on the dance floor"

Ahana:"Ahh.. we can watch plus Navya is there"

Shruti:"Oh common don't be a spoil sport. Someone will look after Navya"

Ahana:"Umm"

Neil:"Let's try it"

Ahana:(Turning to Neil)"you want to?"

Neil:"Yeah. it will be fun"

Ahana:(Smiled)"Okay"

A girl volunteered to take care of Navya as her husband had an injured knee so they couldn't participate.

Neil and Ahana along with other couple stood on their paper which was big enough at this point to hold 2 people comfortably.

Neil:(holding his hands out)"So shall we show everyone that we are the best couple Mrs. Malhotra"

Ahana:(Laughs)"Oh Neil...( She composed herself as she kept her hands in his)"We shall"

The music started as Ahana and Neil moved to the slow beat. Both of them lost In each other eyes when they heard a loud ohhh breaking them apart. The music had stopped the it was time for the paper to be folded.

This happened 2 and 3 times and only 2 couple had gotten out by now. The paper was just enough for 2 pairs of feet to stand upon.

Guy:"Time for paper fold."( Ahana stepped off as Neil folded the paper. As Neil did Ahana saw the couple around them getting into position. 1 couple were in a position where the husband had picked up his wife in bridal form while another were in the position where both of them stood cramped onto each other on the paper.)

Neil:"Ahana.."

Ahana:"Huh?"( Ahana looked forward to See Neil hands out towards her. She smiled as she grabbed on to it.)

Neil:"Take of your sandals shona"( Ahama gave a confused look)" Trust me"( Ahana took of her sandals as Neil pulled her closer. )" Now step on my feet"

Ahana:"My whole weight will be on you Neil."

Neil:"Exactly just do it shona trust me"(Ahana looked at him worriedly as she grabbed onto his shoulder and stood on both his feet. She wobbled a little as her arms went around his neck while his arms secured on her waist)

The music started as Neil started to moved side to side, not getting of the paper. Ahana moved her face back slightly to see Neil's which rested really close to her that their breaths were mingling.

Neil:(Groaned)"God I want to kiss you so badly right now"( He breath out in a husky voice)

Ahana:(Blushing)"Control yourself mister we are in a crowned place"

Neil:"Trying really hard to Shona. But this closeness is not helping"

Guy:"Ohhhhhh and We are down to last 2"( Ahana looked around to see multiple couples had gotten out. One 1 more was left other then them)

Shruti:"Last round then guys Let's fold the paper fully and see our winner"( The paper was folded till the point where barely 2 feet and stand on it)

The other couple followed the strategy of the husband picking the wife up while standing on his 2 feet crambed together.

Ahana looked at Neil as he stared at the paper trying to figure out a way. She looked down to see what they can do.

Ahana:"Neil let's just do it the same way we did before "

Neil:"It won't work shona. My legs need to be a little apart for you to stand properly. here my legs are crambed together."

Ahana:"Who said I'll be standing on you this time. Turn around."

Neil:"Huh?"

Ahana:"My precious hubby. You remember how you have given multiple piggy back rides to our kids"

Neil:"Yeah?"

Ahana:"Well I guess now it's time for your wife to get one as well"( She said as he turned him around and jumped on his back while he stumbled a little but caught her in time)

Neil hands rested on her legs while her hand around around Neil's shoulder as she hugged him from behind like a monkey.

Ahana:(Whispering into his ears)"Now just step on the paper and move you hips"

Neil:(Laughs)" you really are a piece of art shona"( He said as he stepped on the paper and the music began)

The game soon came to an end with Ahana and Neil winning. Everyone decided to have dinner as the kids also started to grow hungry. Neil fed Navya while Ahana made sure Ansh and Naira eat properly.

After dinner the kids rushed back to the bouncy  castle this time taking Neil and navya with them. Ahana watched from afar as she smiled.

Shruti:(Coming and standing next to Ahana)"It truly is Amazing how you both care and love each other Ahana. I haven't seen you this happy and free even with Rajeev."

Ahana:(Smiled)"well Neil brings out the best of me I think."( She said as she saw Neil laughing as Ansh and Naira bounced up and down while Aryan carried his little sister Navya to the slide area.)

Neil turned to Ahana who smiled at him he he waved her to come. She turned to Shruti who smiled and Nodded as Ahana headed to her family.

Neil:"Look at Navu shona. Her giggles won't stop"(He said adoring his kids)

Ahana:"I love you"( Neil turned toward Ahana at a sudden confession)"I know it's a weird time to say it but you always make me fall for you even more."

Neil:(Kissing her forehead)"well you better fall for me everyday because I will keep loving you till my last breath "

Naira:"Mummaa"( Ahana turned to See Navya yawning while Naira rubbed her eyes)

Ahana:"I think that's our cue to head home."( She said as she picked Navya in her arms who snuggled into Ahana)" Common Naira, Ansh, Aryan. Let's head home"( Naira came as she hugged Ahana who rubbed her head while Neil helped the boys wear their shoes)

Ahana:"Shruti we are heading home. The kids are sleepy and it's getting late"

Shruti:"Already? Wait for some time na"

Ahana:"Maybe next time Shruti. They will start to get cranky soon "

Shruti:"Alright. Call me later then. Bye kiddos.. by Neil"

They bid bye to everyone as they left for home.  Ahana watched out the window as the cold breeze hit her. The kids were fast asleep in the backseat. Even Navya was sleeping with her body laying against her brother Aryan who slept carefully not to hurt her.

As Ahana looked out the window she saw a unknown route that the car was taking. She turned to Neil to see him driving casually.

Ahana:"Neil the route.."

Neil:"Just few more minutes shona you will know."

Ahana sat quite as she saw Neil pull up on a hilly area. Ahana got out of the car following Neil. He came in front of the car and gestured Ahana to do the same.

Ahana:"Why are we here Neil.."

Neil:"Because today is a special day.. I just wanted to do a small gesture to make it a little more special. Do you remember today's date"

Ahana:"Yeah.."

Neil:"Ahana today. About 2 years from now was when I first met you. For our marriage "

Ahana:(Ahana gasped as she realized )"Omg it's..."

Neil:"Yes.. Though at that point that day ment nothing much to us. Today it's means the world to me. Because that day you came in my life. You brought Ansh in my life. Ahana we have gone through so much that it's incredible to see how far we have come. From a deal for the kids to a vow for lifetime "(He pulled Ahana in his arms as he wrapped his arms around her waist)

Neil:"Sometimes I feel what would have happened if the events which led us together would have never taken place"

Ahana:(wrapping her arms around his neck as she pulled him closer)"Nothing would have happened because I...I was Destined to be Yours.  And you.. You were Destined to me mine. "

With that Neil crashed his lips with hers in a passionate kiss as her hands entangled in his hair. They devoured each other as the moon light shined brightly on them. Breaking apart, They tried to catch their breaths when Neil held Ahana's hands and pulled her closer to the edge. Ahana gasped at the view in the front.

The city lights lit the area making a beautiful scene in front.  When Ahana looked carefully She saw a jet flying in the sky above The city with a bright red banner which red I Love You.

Ahana looked at Neil with teary eyes as she hugged him tightly while he reciprocated. They both stared out in the view as they enjoyed each others warmth. After few mins, Ahana and Looked back in the at to see their kids still sleeping hugging each other. They looked at each other as they smiled in each other's arms looking at their kids.

Things were truly bliss. This was their sweet and Happy family. Their love had won all the obstacles that came it's way. They were sure to win the upcoming obstacles as well. Because they were Destined to be together.

Hello everyone, I truly feel sad saying goodbye to this story. It's been very close to my heart but I guess everything does have a end.
