Spencer's fingers crawled up and down Amelie's bare back. She watched him with intrigue in her eyes and a smile on her face.
"Good morning...."
Spencer inched closer and planted a kiss on her shoulder. "Morning."
It was the second time they had slept together and Spencer was infatuated with her. After the first time, they ordered pizza and stayed up all night talking. When she called him and invited him over again, he couldn't believe it. It meant she actually liked him. He was so mediocre yet for some strange reason she actually liked him. Wow.
Spencer glanced at his Rolex. It was almost eleven, meaning he had missed his morning meeting with a few filmmaker friends. Oh well.
"What are your plans for the day?" Amelie said softly.
Spencer blew a pocket of air out of his mouth and tried to think of his plans. Every time he came close to remembering them, he'd get lost in Amelie's eyes. When she turned around to grab her phone and broke eye contact, Spencer could finally remember.
"Oh! Family dinner. You?"
"Probably just study."
Spencer chuckled. "I know our questions game was over like two days ago but what do you study? I never asked...."
"Politics," She chirped, turning back around to face him.
"Oh wow so this is technically a political scandal!" Spencer joked, waving his hand between them.
"Technically yes. You're like my Marilyn and I'm your JFK."
"Why do I have to be Marilyn!?"
Amelie winked and stepped out of bed and slipped on a robe. "Because, I'm gonna be president, babe. Imagine that. A female Korean in office. It's classic." She walked over to his side of the bed and bent down to kiss him.
Spencer smiled, seemingly in a daze. "You got my vote."

While on his way to his childhood home, driving his favourite blue Aston Martin, Spencer's phone vibrated in his pocket. He pressed the answer button on his dashboard and waited for the voice to go on speaker.
"Hello-"
"She said yes, Spencer! She said yes!"
Spencer quickly glanced at the caller ID on the screen and smiled. It was Oliver. Out of all his old high school friends, he was perhaps closest to him. Spencer's relatonship with Madeline had broken down for obvious reasons (she callously and mercilessly broke his heart) and with Nora he felt that their only connection was through Oliver. Of course in high school Spencer and Nora were great friends but the closer she got to Oliver, the more she alienated herself from everyonce else. It was like she didn't even want friends. The biggest social butterfly of Notre Dame Prep became anti-social. She was content and satisfied with just Oliver. But, as much as Spencer loved Oliver, he really didn't know if him and Nora were the right fit. But of course he would never say anything.
"Oh man, congratulations. I'm really happy for you."
From the background he could hear Nora laughing. "Tell Spencer I say hi! And to save the date for the thirteenth of September. My mother booked a venue for the engagement party."
"Nora told me to tell you-"
"Yeah," Spencer laughed. "I heard. I can't wait."
"Awesome, man. Well, look, I gotta go call my family but it was good talking to you," Oliver said.
"Wait."
"Yeah?"
Spencer sighed. "You're not even going to thank me for the other night. Man, I got arrested for you!" Spencer said it in a joking manner but, deep down, a thank you would have been nice to hear. Oliver hadn't even called him to ask about him after he got arrested. Although it wouldn't have surprised him if Oliver said he couldn't remember anything from that night.
"Oh." Oliver coughed and lowered his voice substantially. "I can't really talk about that now..."
Spencer could hear him shuffling away and closing a door behind him, as if he was trying to prevent Nora from overhearing.
"Look, Spence, I really am sorry. I'm glad you're okay. Just... please don't mention anything to Nor. She thinks I was on a business trip."
"What? Oliver, she's your fiancee now. You can't just keep lying to her!"
"I know, I know. It was just a once-off slip-up on my behalf. But she can't know. She'll get all worried and angry and-"
"Dude, she's your life partner. Of course she has to worry about you!"
Oliver sighed. "I didn't ask for your advice or guidance."
His comment really didn't sit well with Spencer. "Yeah, but Nora is my best friend too and I'm looking out for her. You have hurt her too many times!"
Silence came from both sides of the line for a few seconds. There was a simmering tension between them.
"I'll see you at the engagement party, man," Oliver finally said, breaking the silence, before hanging up.
Spencer scoffed. Oliver could be a real ignorant jerk sometimes. He just hoped that Nora was happy with him.
It was weird really. It seemed like everyone was getting married except for him. Everyone was moving on and yet Spencer had spent the past few years hung up over Madeline Lockhart. Twenty-three was a bit too early to get married, in his opinion, but he had never even had a serious girlfriend. Maybe Amelie was the one. Maybe.
He finally arrived at his mother's house and carelessly parked his car in front of the fountain. He was just in a rush to get in and out. He grabbed the roses he had bought for his mother and entered the house.
He found his mother staring idly at Charlie while he was busy on his phone. Thank god there was a chef making the food because Spencer was not ready to eat his mother's cooking. He still felt nauseous from her breakfast...
"Oh, Spencer! How are you, darling?" Helena boomed, jumping up to hug him.
"Good. I got these for you."
His mother dramatically took a whiff of the roses and smiled with glee. "They're wonderful! I'll go put them in a vase!"
While his mother was gone, Spencer turned to face his brother. Charlie was slumped over his phone at the kitchen table. He didn't even realise Spencer had come in.
"Yo."
Charlie ignored him and continued to tap his phone's screen rapidly.
"Who are you texting?"
"No one," Charlie grunted back.
Spencer laughed and snatched his phone off him so he could his message before he could take it back. He wanted to know what was so important that it made his brother ignore him.
"Give it back!" Charlie lunged at him but Spencer ran to the opposite end of a table. Charlie chased after him like a game of cat and mouse.
"No! You completely ignored me and I want to know why!" Spencer teased. "Oh look! You're texting.... Oliver?"
Spencer furrowed his eyebrows and looked up at Charlie who cursed before trying to catch Spencer again.
"I'll meet you tonight but supply's running low. I can only sell you one gram..." Spencer read aloud.
Charlie sighed in resignation and stopped trying to take his phone back. Spencer took a few seconds to make sense of the message.
"One gram of what, Charlie?" Spencer spat through gritted teeth.
"Spence, it's not what it looks like-"
"One gram of what?"
Charlie sighed. "After Dustin went to jail, he made me promise to keep the business going just until he gets out."
Succumbing to blinding rage, Spencer gripped his brother's t-shirt and slammed him against the fridge, knocking over a few magnets. "ARE YOU INSANE?! HOW STUPID CAN YOU BE?!"
Charlie pushed him off of him and scowled. "Don't touch me."
"You're selling to Oliver?! Spencer clenched his fists as anger flooded his veins. "Damn it, Charlie! I've always known you were a fuck up but dealing drugs is on a whole new level. I can't believe you!"
"I promised Dustin-"
"Your promise to your criminal ex-boyfriend shouldn't mean anything! You're such a dumbass!"
Charlie rolled his eyes. "You wouldn't understand-"
"Stay the fuck away from Oliver. He's getting married and drugs will poison his relationship with Nora."
"He's getting married?"
Spencer aggressively pushed him out of the way. "Yes. So stay away from him. Don't destroy his life like you destroyed yours."
As Helena came back into kitchen, her smile fell as her eyes landed on her sons. "What's going on?"
Spencer turned to look at his brother who had a pleading expression on his face as he subtly shook his head.
"Charlie has to go. He won't be joining us for dinner."
Charlie sighed and grabbed his phone and keys. "Yeah, Spencer's right. I can't be here."
As he walked out, Spencer made sure to bump into him with his shoulder.
"Watch it," Charlie growled.
"Or what?"
Charlie shook his head and left. After a few moments, the sound of the front door slamming could be heard.
"What just happened?" Helena asked, genuinely confused.
Spencer unclenched his jaw and sighed. "Nothing. Let's eat."
