Vincent
Alyssa didnât return to the party after she went outside after dancing with Dan. I questioned him about this, and he said she needed some air as she was not used to crowds yet. I understood what he meant and went outside to look for her.
âI smell her, Vincent,â Asterot said.
âI smell her, too; Iâm following the trail,â I answered. After running on the sand for a while, I saw Alyssa standing alone when she crashed on the island when she first arrived in Varrfarrinn. What was she doing here? âAlyssa?â I called out. She turned to face me with a scared look. I think I spooked her.
âIâm sorry; I didnât mean to scare you.â I apologized. âI worried about you when you didnât return to the beach house.â
âMy head is pounding, and Iâve been seeing visions of flying,â Alyssa said as she placed her hands on the sides of her head. âIâm seeing things that I donât remember seeing,â
âYouâre having flashbacks; your mind is making you remember forgotten events of the night you arrived here. The question is, what triggered it?â It soon dawned on me. âYouâre head injury; I think that is the cause of these flashbacks.
âIâm only getting small bits and pieces of it. What happened that night?â Alyssa asked.
âYou were wounded and exhausted. I shifted to meet you, but you were too weak to make it to the island, so I flew beneath you and carried you the rest of the way.â I explained.
âI remember everything.â Alyssa pointed to the place where she crashed. âThis is where we landed, isnât it,â
âYes, it is,â I smiled.
Alyssa looked into my eyes; she knew I worried about her. I embraced her. âThe pain comes and goes, but I feel better,â Alyssa said.
âIâm taking you to Doctor Solus,â I said.
âNo, the pain will pass. Iâm fine,â Alyssa took a few steps before she kneeled to the ground. I lowered myself to her level and tried to lift her into my arms, bridal style. âYou canât walk in this condition; Iâm carrying you the rest of the way,â
But before I could carry her, she started to scream. âAlyssa! Please talk to me!â Her eyes were barely open, and her whole body was shaking. I brushed her hair out of her face; it was pale and drenched in sweat. I tried to carry her again, but she cried in pain, so I placed her back on the sand. âIâm calling Doctor Solus; just stay with me,â I said. I pulled out my phone, hoping that Solus would answer.
âThis is Doctor Kaiden Solus speaking,â He answered.
âKaiden, itâs Vincent. I need you to head to the beach; Alyssa has had these bad headaches but collapsed on the ground. Sheâs pale, sheâs shaking, and I canât move her without her crying out in pain.â I said.
âWhere are you, your highness?â Doctor Solus said.
âAt the southern beach, where we first found Alyssa,â I said.
âIâll apparate over there. Iâll be there soon,â Doctor Solus hung up.
I looked back at Alyssa and noticed her eyes were open again. âStay calm; help is on the way.
âI know youâre my mate,â Alyssa said suddenly. âAlexandria thought you already told me.â
âDonât worry about that right now; we will talk about that later. Right now, I want you to focus on your breathing. Please take it easy.â I then heard a loud noise, and Dorcot Solus appeared before me.
âStep aside,â Solus said, and I obeyed. âAlyssa, can you hear me?
âYe-yes,â Alyssa said weakly. âWhatâs happening to me?â
âWhen did the headaches start again?â Doctor Solus said.
âThey started again last night but only started to get pretty bad this morning,â Alyssa said.
âYou knew she had these headaches!?â I growled.
âNot now, Vincent. Why didnât you come and see me? I could have helped,â Doctor Solus asked,
âI didnât want to make a fuss over nothing,â Alyssa explained.
âThis doesnât look like nothing to me,â Doctor Solus huffed.
âAlyssa told me that she started remembering the day she arrived here,â I said.
Doctor Solus goes into his pocket and pulls out a pen; he turns on the light. âOpen your eyes for me, Alyssa,â
âI watch as the doctor shines the light into Alyssaâs eyes. At first, they seemed to react normally, but I noticed her eye color turned to gold for a split second. âOh goddess,â I said.
Doctor Solus placed his pen on her forehead and whispered words of magic.
Alyssa screamed as a pulse of magic knocked us back. What the hell was that? I got up and saw Alyssa, who was not moving. I tried to run to her, but a hand held me back. âLet go of me; my mate needs me!â
âStay back, son,â Doctor Solus said.
âWhat did you do!?â My eyes turned white.
âI didnât do that. I was trying to find the cause of Alyssaâs pain.â Doctor Solus said.
I tried to reach her, but the doctor stopped me again. âIf you donât unhand me this instant, I will personally send you to the goddess,â I snarled.
âIâll let you go, but you canât go near her,â Doctor Solus said.
âWhat the hell are you talking about? Youâre not making any sense,â I said.
âThat blast of magic came from Alyssa,â Doctor Solus explained. âTurn on your dragon vision, and youâll understand.â
I opened my eyes to see the world through Astarotâs eyes. I saw a golden light enveloping Alyssa. What was this magic protecting her? I should be able to touch her as she is my mate, but Solus didnât want to leave it to chance. I looked at Solus with confusion. âHow is this possible?â
âI felt something different when trying to find what was causing her pain. But I guess I triggered some defense mechanism,â
âNo dragon can use magic when they are in human form,â I said.
âAlyssaâs a gold dragon, the limit of their abilities has always been shrouded in mystery.â Doctor Solus said.
âBut Dahlia, Alyssaâs dragon, is dormant,â I said. âAstarot tried communicating with her when he noticed her presence, but she never answered his call.â
âI think the blow to her head triggered something; If Iâm correct, Dahlia is waking up.â Doctor Solus smiled.
âBy the Goddess,â I gasped.
