Vincent
Watching Alyssa shaking made me want to hold her, but I knew I had to stay back. âI see that Alyssaâs energy pulses have stopped,â I said as I ran towards her.
âWait, we need to know for sure.â Dr. Solus warned me.
âI canât care if Iâm blasted to mount Everest. I need to make sure sheâs alright.â I growled. Alyssaâs face was pale, but I could hear her breathing; I touched her skin and felt the sparks shoot through me. âMine,â
âMy lord, be careful not to move her,â Dr. Solus said.
âWhat do you mean? Sheâs fine,â I roared. My fangs were out, and I wanted to kill anyone who dared keep her from me.
âIf Iâm correct, her dragon is waking up, and itâs not a good idea,â Doc said.
âDamn it! Alyssa, can you hear me?â I cried. âBaby, please wake up; I found you when I prayed to the goddess to bring you to me. I canât lose you like this.â I looked up at Dr. Solus. âCanât you do something?!â
âLet me see.â Dr. Solus put his hand on each side of her head and began chanting.
âI scoffed, âDonât know why you are doing that again, considering what happened last time,â
âI never knew dragons could get this possessive over their mates.â Dr. Solus joked, but I was not in the mood.
I glared at him. âYou havenât seen me being possessive yet,â I threatened.
âFair enough. There is nothing we can do at this point. Alyssaâs consciousness is awake, but sheâs trapped inside her body. In simpler terms, Alyssaâs mind is sharp, but her body is sleeping.
âThere has to be something we can do. Can the mate bond wake her up?â I asked.
âThis is something that the mate bond canât fix. You must understand that a dragon entering hibernation is entirely unheard of, and the same goes for her dragon waking up. We have to observe her and see what happens.â Dr. Solus explained.
My phone began to buzz, and I answered it. âHi, Isabella. Is there anything you need?â
âHey Vincent, we canât find Alyssa. Have you seen her?â Izzy asked.
I looked at my mateâs unconscious face. âYes, I know where she is, and I think you should come here.
Two hours passed, and I saw no change. âHow long will Alyssa stay like this?â
âThere is no telling how long this could take,â Dr. Solus told me.
âWe canât just let her lie on the fucking beach all night,â I said.
I heard Izzy, Annabeth, and Jacob running up to us. âBy the goddess, Alyssa!â Before Izzy managed to reach Alyssa, I stopped her from getting closer. âVincent, what the hell?â
âDonât touch her,â I said calmly.
âWhat are you talking about, Vincent? Whatâs going on?â Izzy questioned.
âDoc thinks her dragon is waking up,â I answered.
âThen why the hell havenât you taken her to the hospital?!â Izzy yelled.
âAlyssa is too unstable; for now, all we do is be here and monitor her,â Dr. Solus explained.
âHow can that be ALL you do?!â I could feel Islabellaâs anger reaching its boiling point.
âIzzy, please calm down,â Jacob said, trying to calm his sister.
âDonât tell me what to do, Jacob! She is my best friend, and I refuse to let her lie here and do nothing to help her.â Izzy said.
âRight now, there is nothing we can do,â Dr. Solus said.
Izzy was fuming, but Annabeth was able to keep her from killing the doctor.
âI called Alexandria, and sheâll ensure we have all the privacy we need,â Jacob said. âI guess itâs only a matter of time before the elders find out,â
âDonât remind me,â I scoffed.
âItâs morning, and thereâs no change. Are we just going to let Alyssa lay there for goddess knows how long.â Izzy said.
âNo, since there has been no change for the past few hours, we could try to move her to a move-sheltered location. We can move her to the trees; that way, she will be protected from the sun.â Dr. Solus smiled.
âThatâs not a fucking solution; we need a hospital!!â Izzy yelled.
âLike I already told you, I donât think itâs safe to have Alyssa at the hospital; she could shift.â Dr. Solus argued.
âWe can move her to the Dragon Caves,â I suggested. âItâs where I shifted for the first time.â
âThat is an idea, but the caves are far from here. I could apparate there, but I have no idea how that would affect Alyssa,â Dr. Solus said.
âDo it; Izzy is right; we canât leave Alyssa lie here for knows how long,â I said.
âVery well, my highness,â Doctor Solus stepped back and placed his hand on Alyssaâs shoulder.
Then, all of a sudden, I felt a pain in my chest. âAGH!â I cried out in pain as my back was on the sand.
âVincent!â Jacob said.
âWhat happened?â Doctor Solus said.
I got up slowly. âI donât know; I felt a sharp pain when you touched her.â
âWhatever is happening to Alyssa is also happening to you, Vincent. Damn, and just when I thought it was safe to move her.â Dr. Solus said.
âWe know about Vincentâs bond to Alyssa; itâs evident theyâre mates,â Izzy said. âI never heard of a mate bond like this before.â
I donât know what is going on in Alyssaâs mind, but whatever is going on in that head of hers, I hope she makes it out.
