Chapter 0125
Serenaâs POV
âSo, what are you suggesting, Taylor?â I ask. âI could post a storytime on my TikTok, but it might just make me look defensive.â
Since I donât have any evidence that Max sabotaged my debut as a designer, itâll just look like a heâsaid- sheâsaid situation.
Taylor smiles at me, her eyes lighting up with a hint of excitement. âThatâs why Iâm here, Serena. We can do an interview, and part of it will let you explain what happened between you and Max.â
I remember that Taylor wanted to interview me about my Rebirth of Venus jewelry set for the fashion show. But she had mentioned her schedule was booked.
âOh, right. I thought you were busy with other stuff?â
âI am,â Taylor admits. âBut something opened up next Tuesday, and I figured why not do the interview then?â
I think about it for a moment. This could be my chance to clear things up and show my work without all the drama.
âAlright, letâs do it,â I agree, nodding at Taylor.
Taylorâs face lights up. âAwesome! This is going to be great, Serena.â
Stevie grins. âOooh! Iâm excited too. I canât wait to see your interview.â
Taylor and Stevie notice my hesitation. âWhatâs wrong, Serena? You having second thoughts about this?â Taylor asks.
I sigh. âNo, Iâm still happy to do it. Itâs just⦠itâs my first interview, and I donât know what to say. What if I freeze up?â
Taylor puts a hand on my shoulder. âDonât worry, I got you,â she reassures. âWeâll go over everything beforehand. Iâll give you a list of questions so you can prepare your answers. And during the interview, Iâll be there to guide you. Itâll be like a conversation between friends.â
Taylorâs confidence is infectious. I start to believe I can actually make it through the interview without a hitch. âThanks, Taylor.â
âOf course, Iâd do anything to help out. Youâre my friend.â Taylor smiles warmly.
We spend the next few minutes discussing the details, setting a time and place to meet.
âOkay, that settles it,â Taylor says. âMy team will send you everything you need for Tuesdayâs interview. And if you have any concerns, just give me a call.â
âGotcha. See you then, Taylor!â
Taylor gives me a reassuring smile before heading out the door. Stevie and I exchange looks, big smiles spreading across our faces.
Then Stevieâs smile slowly changes into a frown. âGirl, I think we forgot to tell Taylor something.â

Chapter 0125
My smile fades. âWhat is it?â I ask, feeling a hint of worry.
âWe forgot to mention our new summer collection,â Stevie says. âThis interview is the perfect way to promote it, and we just missed our chance.â
My mind races. Of course, the summer collection! How could we forget something so important?
I take a deep breath, trying to stay calm.âIâll just send Taylor a message about it,â I say. âI think she would be kind enough to squeeze it in.â
âGreat! At least one good thing will come out of all the Max drama.â
âSpeaking of our new summer collection,â I begin, âcan we close the shop tomorrow? I have to go somewhere, and it canât wait.â
Stevie furrows her brows. âWhere do you need to go?â she asks.
âIâm not sure yet,â I admit. At least, I didnât lie to Stevie this time. Bill technically didnât say where weâre going.
âHmm⦠are you sure thatâs a good idea?â Stevie asks, skeptical. âYouâre pretty pregnant to be going anywhere alone.â
âIâm not alone. Iâm going with someone,â I reply. âHe says heâs going to help me find inspiration for the summer collection.â
Stevie smiles as if sheâs been let in on an inside joke. âSo, itâs a date then?â she asks with a wink.
I can feel my face getting hot. âNot a date,â I mumble.
Stevie rolls her eyes. âWhatever. I hope you and Calvin have fun.â
Once again, Stevie assumes Iâm going with Calvin instead of Bill.
What if she finds out Iâve been lying to her all this time? Would she still want to be my friend?
I shake off the thought. I donât want to lose my best friend in the whole world.
âOh, one more thing,â she adds with a mischievous grin. âIf you and Calvin get cozy, I totally support it.â
âOkay, what the hell do you mean by that, Stevie?â I ask, raising an eyebrow. Is she seriously suggesting
have sex?
âHook up. Fuck. Bang each other!â she says a little too loud. âI heard having sex helps with pregnancy
cramps.â
My face turns bright red as I shush her, noticing a couple of customers looking our way. âThatâs disgusting, Stevie,â I say, trying to keep my voice low.
Stevie rolls her eyes. âDonât be such a prude, Serena. Itâs just sex,â she retorts, clearly amused by my embarrassment.
I hate to admit it, but one of my pregnancy cravings is sex. Itâs like my hormones are constantly in overdrive.
The thought makes my cheeks burn even hotter, but thereâs no way Iâm telling Stevie that.
