Veer sighed and looked at Preet who was struggling to clean the house alone as she warned him not to touch a thing.
Even after he tells her that he is fine and can do the clean with her she is not ready to listen to him.
He shook his head, staring at her trying to remove the spider webs in the corner but she couldn't reach there due to her height.
He walked near her and picked her up by her waist, making her scream. She looks down but as soon as she realizes it is Veer her shocking eyes turn into glare.
"Veer!! What are you doing? You will hurt yourself? Leave me right now,.. " she ordered him, making him roll his eyes.
"Stop scolding me. And quickly do your work," he said, ignoring her glare.
"Veer please, you are not well. Leave meâ¦" she asked him but suddenly she squirmed and held his shoulders tightly with her one hand while the other held the broom.
He smirked and asked,
"Should I really leave you wifey, huh?" he playfully asked, making her whine as she felt him loosening his hold on her hips.
"You are so bad, Veer," she said angrily, making him chuckle.
"I know. Now quickly do your work," she looked at him with narrow eyes but then quickly cleaned the corners so he left her.
She sat with a tired sigh and wiped her sweat with the back of her hand.
Suddenly a glass of water comes in front of her face. She looks up to see Veer standing there holding that glass for her.
She took the glass and drank the water in one go, realizing how thirsty she was.
"The water system is still working here I don't know how," he said with a shrug and sat beside her on the old wooden sofa.
She nodded and looked around with a satisfying smile as the house looked somewhat clean and livable.
He looked at her sweaty and tired face, suddenly feeling sad and guilty for not being able to help her. It must be really difficult for her to clean the house all alone.
He wanted to help but she wasn't letting him.
"You are looking so tired and this is making me feel bad," he whispered, wiping the sweat from her face with his hanky.
She smiled at his care and held her hand that was wiping her sweat and placed a kiss on the back of his hand.
"Please don't feel bad. I know you wanted to help but I want to exhaust you. Don't forget you had surgery last week. Just take care of yourself, that's all I want," she said, smiling at him sweetly.
He felt so lucky to have her in his life. She is the most precious gift he has. And he will forever be thankful to god for sending her in his life.
"I will get well soon for you. I have lots of responsibilities to take now," he said then sighed as he had lots of things to do.
"We will manage everything, don't stress yourself, Veer. God will show us the way," she assured him softly and placed her head on his shoulder to relax a bit after her hard work.
He looks at her face and smiles weakly looking at her closed eyes. He circled his arm around and kissed the side of her head,
"She really tired herself," he whispered to himself and gently caressed her shoulder while kissing her hair a few times.
"Preet wake upâ¦"
"Come on open your beautiful eyes, my love,"
Preet smiled in sleep hearing his sweet voice filled with love and adoration.
She snuggles more into the thing she is hugging and hears his sweet chuckle in return.
"Wake up nowâ¦come on," she slowly opened her as her sleep broke due to his voice. And look at him with a cute frown on her face.
"You must be hungry See what I got for us, .." She blinked her eyes still feeling sleepy but her sleep flew away as he raised his hand showing her a plastic bag.
She swiftly sat up and looked at him then at the packet in his hand,
"What is it? And how did you get this without money?" she threw back-to-back questions at him.
He sighs rolling his eyes and places the packet on the table to unpack it.
"Talk later first eat something. I am really hungry," he said, ignoring her questioning gaze on him but he still felt her eyes on him.
"From where did you get money, Veer?" she asked him as he placed the plate of Dal Chawal in from of her.
He stared at her worried face and said,
"It is my money. Don't worry," he assured her but still stared at him feeling something missing.
"But we left our wallets and phones in the Rajvansh Villa. Then how do you get the money?" Feeling annoyed with her, he put the spoon of Dal Chawal in her mouth and said,
"You talk too much. I didn't do anything illegal, Preet. Trust me, it is my money. I swear," she sighed but still not feeling satisfied with his assurance.
Seeing her lost, Veer fed her with his hand while eating himself.
"She shouldn't know about this, Veer," he thought and smiled at her while feeding her a morsel.
They look at each other and then in front while thinking something.
"What should we do now?" Preet asked looking at the single bed and that too was covered with dust.
"We can't sleep on it," Veer said looking at her who nodded at him.
"Hmmâ¦"
Veer thought for a minute before walking to the cupboard. His eyes scan the cupboard which is filled with bed sheets, blankets, duvets, and pillows but they all are dirty.
He closes it with a sigh and shakes his head looking at Preet. We can't use them.
She looks at the sofa placed on the other side of the room.
"You sleep on the sofa, I will sleep on the floor," she said and dusted the sofa lightly.
"No, you sleep on the sofa and I will sleep on the floor," he argues making her look at him with a glare.
She stood straight and looked at him with narrow eyes, placing her hands on her waist.
"Why do you always forget that you need to be careful with your body for a few more days? You had your ribs broken a few days ago, Veer. Don't argue with me. I am really tired so just go and sleep quietly," she scolded him getting frustrated as she felt tired and sleepy.
Veer glared at her and went near the sofa. She sighed as he lay down on the sofa and began to walk but he stopped her holding her wrist.
"Then sleep with me," Veer said making her narrow her eyes at him.
"We can't Veer. The sofa is too small for both of us to sleep. How-" A grasp left from her mouth as he pulled her over him and quickly caged her between his arms.
She look at him with her wide eyes and parted lips as she fell over him. She blink her eyes when he gazes his thumb lightly on her cheek.
"Veer-" he placed a light peck on her lips as she began talking and smirked seeing her stunned face.
"Ple-" she sighed in defeat when he again pecked her lips and chuckled seeing her pouting.
"Now keep quiet and sleep," he whispered to her and forcefully placed her head on his chest and started caressing her hair.
She closed her eyes as she finally relaxed over him. Her hands were wrapped around his neck and her face cuddled into his chest, feeling his soft heartbeat.
He also close his eyes feeling calm and content with her in his arms. What more he could ask for if she is with him?
Soon they fell into a dreamland in each other's embrace.
Preet looked at Veer in shock then at the carry bags placed in front of her.
"What is all this, Veer?" She asked.
"Some basic things we might need. Few clothes of us and toiletries. Also some snacks and groceries until I get the job," he said, making her emotional at his thoughtfulness and care.
"I know you are hiding something from me, Veer. Just tell me how you get so much money to buy all of this," she asked looking at him as she pleaded.
"Preet-" she stop him as she said
"Only truth Veer or I am not going to use these things," she said in a stern voice making him sigh.
"Fine, I sold my gold chain," he told her and look away seeing her shocked.
"What?!" she whispered blinking her eyes. And soon she burning in her eyes and in no time her eyes filled with tears.
She wipe her tears and gulp down her sob. Veer look at her face which is now red and felt guilty for being the reason of her tears yet again.
He saw her sitting beside him and look at him with adoration and love.
"Why did you do this? You don't have to do that, Veer.." she whispered holding his one hand and then look down at their joint hand with a weak smile.
"You know you are the best," she said meeting his beautiful eyes and smiling beautifully at him with tears shining in her eyes.
"I have to be best to match my woman's standard," he said genuinely but in a playful tone earning sweet chuckles from her.
"Ok enough my crybaby, we should freshen up because I am really hungry," he said.
"Then go freshen up while I am arranging something to eat," She stood along with him.
He nodded and go upstairs while she walked into the kitchen with carry bags.
She looks at the things he bought and smiles. He knows what they will need and bought almost every necessary thing. Quite a smart man, she got.
She first cleans a few plates and cooking utensils before making a sandwich and teas for them. And As she turned off the switch of the gas stove, he walked inside looking freshen and clean.
He smiles at her and then looks at the sandwich she made.
"This is all we can afford," she said knowing very well her husband prefers a healthy and variety of things in his breakfast.
"It is more than enough," he assured her, kissing her temple.
"Go freshen up quickly. I will set our breakfast, hmm" she nodded and walked out of the kitchen while he again heated up their tea and plated their breakfast.
In the Rajvansh Villa
"Malti, where is everyone?" Urmila asked as she came downstairs for breakfast.
"Madam, Bade Sahab left for the office a few minutes ago and Aarav Baba and Avni madam asked me to bring their breakfast in their room. And Badi Madam just had her tea as she is not feeling well today," Urmila's face fell but hid her sadness and nodded her head.
"Malti serves my and my mother's breakfast then," she said and sat on her chair in the dining room.
Urmila glanced at the quiet gloomy house and suddenly felt alone. She silently eats her breakfast while Sumitra is looking happy and enjoying her meal.
Something is eating her from inside but she ignores the feeling and tries to be happy but she isn't feeling any happiness.
"Finally this house is yours to rule, Urmi. Now I am satisfied. What if my one daughter couldn't have this happiness but now you have this golden chance, Urmi. Don't let anymore control you, Beta. Just think about your children and yourself,"
Sumitra said, placing her palm over her and smiling at her. Urmila smiled and nodded.
