Alice's POV:
Beep. Beep. Beep.
What is that annoying noise?
Beep. Beep. Beep.
I opened my eyes to be blinded by light. I saw Jace, Alec, Ryder, and some girl standing in front of my bed.
"The nurse said that you would wake up soon..." Ryder exclaimed awkwardly. "You've been in a coma for a week."
"A week?" My voice cracked and I noticed how thirsty I was. Alec handed me a bottle of water. I chugged it and thanked him. "What happened after I passed out?" I asked them.
"We came in with a mini army of people with guns. The other guys shot up the place and took care of Frank's workers. So, the four of us and two other men went to the basement to find you." Alec began to explain. I was surprised to say the least. It's almost unbelievable. The girl began to talk. I still didn't know who she was.
"You were on the floor and blood was everywhere. I grab end the flame thrower and started melting the bars of the cell. Then, Frank came in with Leo and two other men. It all happened so fast..." She shuttered. Alec wrapped his arms around her in an attempt to comfort her. Wait, Alec has a girlfriend? Ryder continued the story.
"Frank told us about what happened in our past and it triggered something in all of us. Leo pushed me to the ground. I was um... caught off guard. Anyway, Jace ended up fighting Frank. Alec started attacking Leo. It got really nasty." Ryder continued, "I saw that Jace was getting pinned down by Frank and I attacked him. I stabbed him. Frank died after that. Alec ended up killing Leo."
"None of that matters though. You're out of there and you're alive. I don't know what I would've done if you didn't make it out of there." Jace angrily muttered the last part. He felt guilty.
"I'm not angry at any of you. You got me into that mess, but you also got me out. Let's be honest, you went fucking crazy to get me out. I appreciate that you didn't leave me for dead but if you boys go mouthing off to another gang leader about me, I'll kill you myself." I threatened and they all laughed like I was joking. When they realized that I wasn't smiling, everyone looked at the ground.
"I'm going to go light a smoke. I'll be right back." Alec walked out of the hospital room. The girl followed him out. They're cute together.
"Where's my family?" I asked Jace.
"They are fine. Ryder tracked them down in the yellow pages and called them. Your mom is on her way here with your brother. They should be here shortly." Jace informed me and looked at his phone to check the time.
"Thanks, when can I get out of here?" I questioned the boys curiously. I want to know when I'm better so I can get away from all of these sick people.
"If you're doing well, it's possible to be released in about a week. The doctor talked to us when he knew you were about to wake up." Jace explained. I nodded in understanding and looked down at my arm.
"HOLY SHIT! There is a needle in my arm! I'm dying! Jace, I'm not going to lie, I may not make it out of this. It just got really cold in here! Is anyone else seeing spots?" I freaked out and everything went black.
~*~
"Oh my baby!" I heard my mother's voice.
"Ms. Alice's mom, she's fine. Alice just fainted when she saw the needle. She woke up an hour ago from the coma." Alec's voice rang through my ears. I guess he is back from his smoke.
"This is all of your fault! You boys were supposed to protect her. Danny told me about everything. How could you let this happen?!" My mother screamed at them. I could have opened my eyes and stopped my mother but I decided to let this go on for a bit.
"She got out of our sight. We take full responsibility." Ryder informed her and I had to holding n a laugh because I know my mother so well. She is not going to calm down for quite a bit.
"You're damn right that you should take responsibility for this mess! My poor daughter was in a coma because you-you... hooligans!" It was really hard to contain my snarky comments. Who says hooligans? Jeez mom...
"Didn't Alice sneak out on her own?" I heard a female voice ask.
"I don't care is she ran away from you boys. Alice was put into the whole situation because of you boys. If you had never met her, she would have never gone through all of this." My mother stroked my hair. I opened my eyes because it officially had to stop. I didn't want the boys to feel bad for me, I just wanted my mother to make them uncomfortable.
"Mom?" I asked clueless. Her eyes brightened and she hugged me.
"I was so worried! I sped here and got two speeding tickets but it was worth it. I would have gotten three if...that is a story for another time. How do you feel?" She asked me frantically.
"I'm okay, everything hurts and I'm really dizzy though." I commented. I turned my head to see Danny. His face was in his hands. "Danny, what's wrong?" I questioned him with worry. He looked up at me and I saw his bloodshot eyes.
"I shouldn't have left you with them." He stated weakly. I've never seen him like this. Danny has always been as strong as I am.
"You can't blame yourself. You had to make sure mom was okay. I understand that. I'm glad that you left with her because I would rather be in this bed than have her in my place and that would have happened if you didn't get her to leave. I'm going to be fine and when this is over, we're going to go home and life will go on." I tried to comfort him.
"Stop Alice. This is never going to be okay. I left you. I'm your brother, I'm supposed to protect you. You almost died." He spat and stood up. "I'm going to take a walk or something." He muttered and walked out of the room. I sighed in annoyance. How can he blame himself? I love Danny but sometimes he angers me.
"Mom, please go with him. I don't want to leave him alone. I'll be okay. There are people all around him is hospital." I convinced my mother to leave eventually to find my brother.
Eventually, it was midnight. Everyone left except for Jace. They all went home to get some sleep. Jace waned to stay and I didn't fight him on it because it was only one night.
"Why don't you hate us for what happened?" He asked out of nowhere.
"I never really thought about it Jace. I guess I don't hate you because you came back for me. After everything, you still got me out of that cell. Without you boys, I would be dead." I answered simply.
"No, without us, you never would have met Frank. When your mother first came, she opened my eyes to a lot of things." He told me.
"I know, I heard her. She wasn't wrong, but she doesn't know you guys like I do. I'm not going to say that if I could redo all of this, that I would do the same things because I wouldn't. But I don't regret meeting you. Through all of the irritation and pain in the last month, there was also fun and this was defiantly a memorable senior year." I laughed.
"I'm sorry Alice, for everything."
"Don't go soft on me Jace Payton. What happened to my bad boy?" I asked him teasingly.
"I'm still bad ass. You just haven't seen that side of me lately." He pouted and I laughed.
"Oh, so you could say that I turned the bad boy good?" I playfully slapped his arm.
"I wouldn't go that far Skater Girl." Jace's face and my face were inches apart. I didn't realize that we had both moved closer as we talked.
"You wouldn't? I think I turned you good like in one of those cliché movies or books." I teased him. He just smirked.
"I just killed people to save you. If anything, I'm worse than I was before. Maybe you're a bad influence on me." He chuckled at his own comment.
"I am the bad influence on you? I think you might have hit your head." My nose was about an inch away from his. I should have moved away but I couldn't.
Our lips touched and Nothing else seemed to matter.
