Feel free to point out any spelling, grammar, or spacing errors. I would really appreciate it and will fix them right away :)

Ch18: Boy, You Ain't Got Nothing On Gale
"How about I tell you guys everything instead?" I say nervously.
As soon as the words came out I regret them.
They don't need to know, right?
I meet them around three or two months ago.
That's not enough time to talk about your dead sister, right?
I guess not, but I do live with them and I do consider them my friends.
Well, most of them anyway.
"Are you going to talk any time soon? Vincent asks breaking the silence and I glare at him.
"Give me a minute," I bark at him taking a seat on the couch.
"It's fine," Josh walks towards me and sits next to me taking a hold of one of my hands.
I immediately feel my stomach go crazy.
"No," I pull my hand free. "You just make thoughts go all weird."
"Do I?" He smirks and I shove him playfully.
"Shut up," I roll my eyes.
A few seconds later the mood is back to being tense and I take a deep breath.
"I had a sister," I say and all three of them look at me intensely. "We we're at the house talking and then I got hungry. So I asked her if she could go buy some food and she said yes. So she left the house and then after a while my parents came in completely hysterical. They were yelling and screaming about how she had gotten in a car crash. So we went to the hospital and they told us," I stop and take a deep breath "she was brain dead."
"I'm so sorry princess," Josh frowns and I smile softly at him.
Please don't feel sorry.
"She was kept alive with life support for four months before my parents decided to pull the plug," I look down at my hands. "I saw the guy who crashed into her when he came into the hospital, but I was too upset to even try and talk to him. He apparently was a college student who had too much to drink that night and decided to take a drive."
"Did you ever get his name?" Alex asks and I shake my head.
"No," I say. "The hospital did not want to give my parents that information to avoid conflict. . .it's a good thing too. I think my dad would have killed him if he could. "
"Anyone would have," Vincent murmurs angrily.
"Lilo wouldn't have wanted that," I sigh.
"Your mom?" Josh asks and I look at him confused before I realize what he means.
"Lilo's my sister," I chuckle. "I lied that day so you guys wouldn't find out the truth."
"Oh," Both Josh and Alex nod before they chuckle.
"Dillweeds," I laugh.
***
I place the phone against my ear and wait for the ringing to begin.
Ring. Ring. Ring.
"Hello," my mother answers and I smile wickedly.
"So you answer if it's private," I say and I can hear her gasp. "Why don't you answer my phone calls or texts?"
"Elliana," she says. "I've been full of work and I get home late. I know how hard school must be for you. I don't want to bother you so late at night."
"Lies," I roll my eyes. "You just don't want to talk to me."
"I do want to talk to you," she speaks kindly. "Me and your dad are just taking space, okay?. . .We lost our daughter and it's been hard. Please understand."
With that said she hangs up.
She freaken hangs up!
"Damn it," I slam my hand on the kitchen dinner table.
"Don't break the table," Vincent has a smug look on his face.
"Don't mock me," I hiss angrily. "In fact, just don't speak to me."
"What's up your ass?" His brows furrow in confusion.
"You are unbelievable," I scoff. "You simply thought I'd forget what you did this morning."
"I thought you had let it go," he says, in a strange tone of voice. It's almost like he's hurt that I'm still mad at him.
Key word, almost.
"Well I didn't," I whisper looking down at my hands.
"Kitten," he walks towards me and I concentrate harder on my hands. "Look up."
I shake my head stubbornly as I move on to starring at my feet.
"Ellie," he says slightly annoyed. "I'm trying to be nice and you're completely ruining the moment."
"Sorry," I look up sheepishly.
"I don't say this often, but when I do I mean it," he puts his hand on the side of my face. "I'm sorry for what I did this morning."
I look straight into his deep green eyes and I can see the honesty within them.
"Apology accepted," I smile and we stand there for a few seconds savoring the quiet moment.
"Vincent," we hear Alex yell and I immediately take two large steps back awkwardly pretending to casually be looking at the dirty dishes.
"What's up?" Vincent scratches the back of his head as Alex walks in.
"I was. . .just. . .going to tell you that I was leaving for work," he says noticing the awkwardness in the room.
"I thought you had a game," I say and he nods.
"It got cancelled," he answers giving me a what-is-going-on look.
"So you have a job?" I ask looking away towards the dirty dishes again.
I should probably get a job. My relationship with my parents isn't all that great right now and who knows what can happen.
"Yeah," he nods proudly.
"Can you help me find a job?" I ask and he gives me a confused look. "I don't know what's going with my parents, but I think I need to start finding a way to pay my own rent. Just in case."
"Sure," he grins. "We have an opening at the diner. Come with me maybe he'll hire you right now and you can start tomorrow."
"Do you really think she should work there?" Vincent interjects and I look towards him. His eyes filled with all kinds of emotions that I can't make anything out.
How does he do that?
Go from crystal clear to extremely foggy.
"Of course," he nods "she'll be at the diner. It's safe, don't worry."
Worry?
Why would he worry?
"Why wouldn't it be safe?" I ask.
"There's a bar," Vincent answers.
"You only have to worry about it if you get a late shift," Alex explains. "The bar opens at nine, but most of your shifts will be earlier."
"Sounds good to me," I nod. "Besides I can take care of myself."
***
"You told me about yourself," Alex says as he drives. "I should tell you more about me."
"You don't have to," I turn away from the window to look at him.
"I know," he nods "but I want to."
"Okay," I nod. "Tell me about your family."
"I don't have one," he says and I furrow my brows in confusion. "I grew up in the system. Jumping from foster home to foster home."
"You don't have to talk about it Alex," I shake my head.
"It's how I know how to play so many sports," he ignores me. "Each foster home taught me a new sport. It's all I've ever been able to do well, so I stuck with it. I'm hoping to get a full ride somewhere on any sport it doesn't really matter much to me which one. My grades aren't all that good, it's why Taylor's tutoring me."
"So when did you move in with Vincent and Josh?" I ask.
"Last year," he answers. "Josh's uncle met me at a basketball game and he helped me get out the system. He told me about his house and asked if I wanted to live there. Of course, I said yes and he somehow managed to get me here."
"That's really kind of him," I smile and he nods.
"Yeah," he chuckles. "I don't know what life would be like without his help."
"Me either," I say and Alex smiles at me.
***
"This is Elliana," Alex introduces me to a tall older looking man. He has neat combed back white hair and dark brown eyes.
"Hi Elliana," he speaks and I can hear a slight accent in his voice. "Are you here for the job opening?"
"I am," I nod. "I don't have much work experience, but I'm ready to learn."
"That's what counts," he chuckles. "I trust Alex's judgement and if he recommends you than you must be good."
"Does that mean I'm hired?" I ask and the man nods.
"Yes," he grins. "My name is Julio and I own the place. I only have two rules and that's to be on time and be respectful."
"I can do that," I grin and he nods before walking off.
"What do you think?" Alex asks as he gestures towards the diner.
The places is called Beeps and when you walk in you can clearly see the division between the bar and the diner.
On the left hand side of the door is the bar with old western decoration feel to it. The floor is painted to look like old wood just like the tables and the bar. At the moment all the lights on that side are turned off because it's closed.
On the right side is the diner and it has a 80's decoration feel to it with the black and white tile floor. The table booths were a bright red as well as the chairs and the bar where people order.
"I love it," I throw myself on him to give him a big hug.
"Shorty," he says annoyed. "Don't hug me. I got girls here and I don't want to give then the impression that I'm not available."
"You're so annoying," I push him.
"Hey sweet cheeks," a voice says and I turn to see a short eleven year old boy with dark brown hair, light freckles, and big brown eyes holding a large chocolate shake.
"Hi sweetie," I smile and Alex chuckles.
"My name is Gale," he says, a big smug look on his face "but you can call your man any day. "
"You're adorable," I chuckle.
"I heard you're working here now," he sips his shake. "I guess I'll see you around sweet cheeks."
With that said he walks off trying extremely hard to look cool and casual as he does.
"Isn't he just so cute," I laugh.
"Yeah adorable," Alex rolls his eyes.
