Chapter 414:
âSir, our agents couldnât approach closely, so we only captured this blurry image.â
Hale crushed his cigar with force, squinting as he snatched the photo.
A single look ignited a predatory gleam in his eyes.
He slowly lifted his head, casting a menacing, blood-red stare at the man in black, his lips twisting into a sinister smile.
The man in black stiffened, feeling as though death was eyeing him, and he held his breath.
âWho gave you permission to present such inadequate information?â With that, Hale slammed the desk, seized the gun, and swiftly fired it with his unmistakable grip.
Before the man in black could react, he was lying in a pool of blood.
The sound of the gunshot summoned two men into the study. They bowed respectfully to Hale and promptly removed the body. Two more entered, efficiently cleaning the blood from the floor.
The entire sequence lasted only ten minutes. The room was restored to its pristine state as if nothing had occurred.
Hale fixed his gaze on the person in the photo, his eyes burning with a dangerous, destructive intensity. In a swift motion, he ripped the photo into pieces and threw them into the trash.
âDoes Harlee hate me? Why hasnât she come for me yet?â
At that moment, Matteo stepped slowly from behind, his voice rough yet carrying an unmistakable authority.
âHale, itâs time to move on.â
âYou donât understand, Matteo. She will come for me.â Haleâs eyes reddened as his deep, cold voice slipped from his thin lips.

His gaze was heavy with gloom.
Harlee shouldnât hate him! They were meant to be together, more suited to each other than anyone else! As for the man beside her in the photoâ¦
Humph, she had simply been distracted momentarily, which was why she hadnât come looking for him.
When they first met, Harlee destroyed the Dark Night he had casually created. Wasnât that a sign of love, hidden beneath a veil of hatred?
Hale looked up at Matteo, his tone even.
âMatteo, Iâm not feeling well.
Could you help me kill someone?â
Matteoâs expression was unreadable, his eyes shadowed with chill.
âHale, how long are you going to continue this recklessness? Iâve already set a trap for her in the rainforest.
Donât push your luck further!â
The man who has caught Harleeâs attention was no ordinary individual. Matteo had already crossed Harlee, and bringing in a man of her caliber would only escalate matters.
Matteo looked at Hale, who shared the same mother but had a different father, his expression filled with helplessness. If only he had known Hale would become like this, he might have persuaded their mother to keep Hale close.
In that case, Hale wouldnât have been left to wander for twenty years, becoming so deranged! Haleâs gaze dropped, his eyes shadowed by long lashes, occasionally flickering with a dangerous twinkle.
