Chapter 388:
He knows the rainforest area best.â
In Room 901, Patrick was pacing nervously.
He kept checking his phone, regretting not getting Harleeâs contact details when she instructed him to wait for news.
In the room with Patrick were two undercover international operatives, known as Kendall and Stanton. Kendall and Stanton were tasked with coordinating with Rhys. Their official cover was that of ordinary global travelers, with their true identities only known to their national superiors.
This time, Kendall and Stanton had to reveal themselves because Rhys was in danger, and his involvement was crucial to their mission. Therefore, despite the risk of blowing their cover, they were determined to rescue Rhys.
Kendall abruptly rose from the sofa, his intense gaze piercing enough to unsettle anyone.
âDo we really need to wait for this Miss Sanderson? I know Uwhor well. I can lead you through the rainforest. What difference does it make if she joins us?â
Stantonâs expression was somber as he looked at Patrick, his eyes showing displeasure at the idea of waiting for Harlee to join them. Patrick hesitated, his mouth opening slightly, unsure how to respond. Their anxiety was palpable.
After three days without any word from Rhys and not knowing or trusting Harleeâs capabilities, their frustration was understandable. Yet, Patrick trusted Harlee.
âLetâs give it ten more minutes before we decide,â he suggested.
Kendall frowned, visibly irritated.

âYou really want to wait for her and bring her into the rainforest with us? Patrick, have you lost your senses? Remember, Mr. Greenâs safety surpasses everything! Any of us can face danger, but not Mr. Green!â
Stanton agreed and said, âPatrick, itâs already been three days. We canât wait any longer.â
While Patrick was unaware of Harleeâs true capabilities and thus couldnât argue effectively, he stood his ground. Reluctantly, Stanton and Kendall agreed to wait another ten minutes.
As the seconds ticked away and the ten-minute mark approached, there was still no sign of Harlee.
Disappointment began to cloud Patrickâs eyes.
He wondered if this meant Harlee didnât really care about Rhys. With a heavy sigh, Patrick knew he could delay no longer.
He grabbed the gun from the table, preparing to leave.
As he opened the door, he collided with Robbie, who appeared slightly awkward. Patrickâs demeanor shifted to relief when he saw Harlee standing behind him, dressed casually.
Harlee adjusted her baseball cap and met Patrickâs gaze, her expression unreadable.
She gestured toward the trio behind her and introduced them in a steady voice.
âRitchie Diaz, Tonya Santos, Robbie Herrera.â
Patrick quickly stepped aside, warmly welcoming them and saying, âPlease come in.â
As Harlee and her group entered, her expression was cold and detached. Ritchie and Tonya also entered with composed faces, while Robbie cheerfully greeted the room.
âHello.â Aside from a brief nod from Patrick, the others barely acknowledged Robbie.
Robbie, accustomed to being overlooked, didnât mind and happily stood behind Harlee.
