Chapter 386:
From afar, Patrick spotted Harlee, his eyebrow arching, ready to greet her, but then he paused, recalling Rhysâ current situation.
He hesitated.
Harlee also noticed Patrick, her look thoughtful, as if she were piecing something together.
After a brief pause, Patrick decided to approach and acknowledge Harlee.
As Rhysâ most devoted subordinate, he felt obligated to help forge a connection between Harlee and Rhys.
After all, Harlee was the woman Rhys had feelings for.
Striding over, Patrick respectfully introduced himself, saying, âMiss Sanderson, Iâm Patrick.â
Harlee casually took a long sip of her drink and asked in a slow, deliberate tone, âIs there a problem with Rhys?â
Patrick was taken aback, momentarily frozen.
Could she read minds? Had she figured out Rhys was in trouble just from his greeting?
Unsure whether to speak, Patrick remained silent for an extended moment.
Harleeâs expression subtly shifted, her smile steady but her eyes more intent. So it was as she suspected. She wasnât certain Rhys was missing, but Patrickâs anxious expression and his absence from Rhysâ side were telling. She hadnât really expected her guess to be accurate.

Forget it.
He knew he had to take the risk.
He couldnât stand by and watch Rhys get into deeper trouble.
Without hesitating any longer, Patrick detailed the events of the past three days.
He started with how Rhys made daily visits to the Sanderson family villa back home just to see Harlee.
Harleeâs expression subtly shifted. She had always been aware, even of Rhysâ quiet protection and care for her.
But⦠Never mind. That could wait. She needed to focus on resolving Rhysâ immediate trouble.
Harlee raised an eyebrow, signaling for Patrick to go on.
After ensuring Harlee was fully attentive, Patrick explained slowly, âThis trip to Uwhor was for a confidential national cooperation project. Officially, we were representing the Green Group in talks with someone named Matteo Walker, but our real mission was to investigate an organization known as Dark Night.
Dark Night is an assassin group that covertly supplies drugs to local gangs. Their drugs are undetectable by ordinary means, targeting mostly youths between 18 and 24.â
âMoreover, Dark Night has been eliminating many of our anti-drug officers. Mr. Green said if we donât expose Dark Night and collaborate with special forces to dismantle them soon, the spread of drugs will reach catastrophic levels.â
Harleeâs face hardened. She was indifferent to why Rhys was working with the government but was alarmed that Dark Night was causing trouble again.
Five years earlier, when Harlee first came to Uwhor, she had run into people from Dark Night. Using her hacking skills, she had obliterated their operations and issued a stern warning under Matteoâs name to stop their activities. She was surprised they had reemerged after only five years.
