Chapter 334:

Lindsay brushed her cheek against his hand and said, “Understood, Wade. You’re the best!”

Lindsay waved Wade off, glancing back repeatedly as she slowly faded from view. Then, she swiftly changed direction to follow the path Harlee had taken.

Wade’s expression shifted subtly as he watched Lindsay go. The nearest parking area in that direction was at least five kilometers away. Was she really planning to drive herself home? At that moment, a sense of unease stirred within Wade.

He pulled out his phone and quickly sent a message to one of his models.

He reasoned that if secrets existed within an engagement, it was only fair that both parties had their own secrets.

Harlee stood amidst the onlookers, observing Lindsay’s visibly distressed demeanor.

Harlee knew Lindsay well enough to suspect that Lindsay was pursuing her just to drop the act and ridicule her openly.

Harlee wasn’t one to endure mockery passively. She felt a strong urge to confront and rebuke.

Lately, she had antagonized too many people, so she chose not to escalate matters further for the Sanderson family’s sake. Next time, she might retaliate anonymously, just to even the score. With a mischievous grin, Harlee shook her head and decided to walk away.

Lindsay’s expression darkened. She had missed a golden chance to embarrass Harlee! But there was no cause for despair.

Harlee taught at Baythorn University, didn’t she? Surely, their paths would cross again there!

Back at the Hilton family estate, Angela had secluded herself in her room since returning from the hospital, adamant about not seeing anyone except Lillie.

Any servant bold enough to enter her room without permission found themselves promptly ejected.

Angela was well aware that if her friends witnessed her bruised face, they would ridicule her forever. Thus, she couldn’t give them that satisfaction.

Lillie stood at the door, knocking gently.

“Angela, it’s me.”

Angela hurriedly opened the door and ushered Lillie in, saying, “Mom, how did you manage things at school?”

Lillie responded with a comforting glance. She detailed how she spread various rumors at Baythorn University, each version more scandalous than the last.

“Now Harlee’s reputation is ruined! Even as a lecturer at Baythorn University, she’s still a woman whom no one would want to marry!”

Angela’s lips curled into a wicked smile after hearing that.

“Harlee, just you wait. I will not only ruin your reputation but destroy you completely!” Angela vowed.

Angela and Lillie enjoyed their scheming, oblivious to the fact that their reckless behavior would eventually lead to the downfall of the entire Hilton family.

Gossip about the Green family calling off the engagement spread wildly. Some whispered it was because Harlee disrespected her elders, others murmured it was due to her supposed illness and inability to bear children, while more suggested her aggressive nature and lack of ladylike grace were to blame.
