Chapter 313:

Liam’s eyes narrowed briefly before he faked a smile, concealing his irritation.

“That won’t do! Harlee and Collin are a perfect match.”

“Adamson, don’t worry. Once we bring Harlee back, I’ll have her mother speak to her.”

Liam subtly nudged Averie, who caught on quickly and supported his statement.

Everyone present was astute enough to see through the fact that Liam and Averie were putting on a show.

Collin excused himself and went upstairs, leaving Liam, Averie, and his parents to each plot their own schemes.

At 4:30 p.m., due to ongoing issues in Claelia, Kareem’s troops stayed behind to assist the border forces while maintaining specific identities.

Harlee and Kareem met up and made their flight on time.

During the journey, Harlee seized the chance to catch some sleep. Noticing she had fallen asleep, Kareem asked a flight attendant for a blanket and carefully covered her with it.

Harlee slowly opened her eyes and gave a sweet, youthful smile.

“Thank you, Kareem.”

Kareem was briefly surprised, then his expression softened into a warm smile, his eyebrows relaxing.

“Just sleep. I’ll wake you when we get there.” He affectionately tousled her hair, watching her with a tender smile.

With Kareem’s calming presence, Harlee quickly drifted into a deep sleep, her face soft and innocent, free of hostility. Kareem observed her sleeping peacefully, internally vowing to protect her with his life.

The flight lasted five hours. Upon landing, Kareem received an urgent call from his superior, directing him to report back to the military immediately.

“I’ll take you home first…” Kareem said to Harlee.

Harlee shook her head, interrupting him.

“No need, Kareem. Just go back to the military via the VIP channel. I can manage on my own.”

Kareem wanted to insist, but Harlee gently pushed him toward the departure gate, motioning for him to hurry. In the end, Kareem didn’t persist. The urgency in his superior’s voice meant he couldn’t afford any delay.

Meanwhile, Liam and Averie had arrived early at the airport to meet Harlee but wore expressions of displeasure.

“What does she mean by this? Did she know we were coming to pick her up and purposely avoid us?” Averie’s face contorted with rage, her eyes burning with hatred as if she wanted to rip Harlee apart.

Liam quickly intervened, trying to comfort her.

“Hold back such complaints. We’re here to persuade Harlee to come home with us. If you cause a scene…” His gaze hardened, and his voice turned sharp.

“Then we’ll get a divorce!”
