Chapter 171:
Fearing her daughter might get the wrong idea, Skyla offered an elaborate explanation.
As Harlee listened, she was lost in thought. She knew Skyla well enough to expect some tactics, like feigning sickness just to set her up on a blind date eventually. So, rather than being cornered into a decision later, she figured it might be smarter to enter a mutually beneficial arrangement with Rhys now.
After weighing her options, Harlee said, âAlright, I agree.â
Skylaâs face lit up with a wide smile.
âGreat! Iâll go tell Belinda now!â
With that, Skyla left the room, practically skipping with joy. Watching her mother leave, Harlee smiled. Once the door closed, she fell back into her bed. Nothing was more important than a good sleep.
âHow dare a rude country bumpkin like you show up at Galaxy Bar? This isnât the place for those financially struggling!â Liliana had bribed the Sanderson family driver to learn Harlee would be at Galaxy Bar tonight and showed up just to taunt her.
Harlee snapped, âWhile Iâm still in a good mood, get lost!â
Liliana, arrogant and defiant, responded, âHarlee, I suggest you reconsider your words, or I canât promise youâll enjoy your evening here.â
Galaxy Bar was under Gregoryâs control. Liliana figured she could easily ban Harlee from the bar. Yet, she had no intention of kicking Harlee out just yet.
Liliana stepped closer to Harlee. When she was just a fistâs distance from Harleeâs glass, she turned slightly, obstructing Harleeâs view from the glass.
As Harlee began to speak, Liliana discreetly dropped a dissolvable pill into her drink.
gðªðµð·Ïvððµð¼.cøm â check it out!
âOh, really? Clinging to that old man, are you?â Harlee teased, her lips twisting into a mischievous smile.
She had numerous photos of Liliana with Gregory. Ritchie, out of boredom, had looked into the Juarez family and uncovered Lilianaâs connection with Gregory.
He quickly relayed this to Harlee, who then secured some compromising photographs.
Harleeâs remark struck a nerve, and Liliana swung her hand at Harlee.
âHarlee, who do you think you are, talking about Gregory like that?â
However, Lilianaâs hand was caught mid-air.
Lilianaâs eyes flared with fury. Remembering the two slaps she had received at the Sanderson family house, her expression shifted dramatically.
âHarlee, Iâm warning you, if you hit me, you wonât walk out of here untouched,â Lilianaâs voice quivered.
Harlee forcefully released Lilianaâs hand.
âGet lost!â She refrained from leaving any marks on Lilianaâs face, aware that it would soon be all over the news.
Liliana, thinking Harlee was intimidated, regained her confidence.
âHmph! Next time you see me, you better take a detour.â
With that, Liliana flipped her hair dismissively and walked away.
The drug was already in place.
All she had to do was wait and watch her plan succeed.
