Chapter 47: ~46~Justin and The Teacher

OverprotectiveWords: 17894

Getting comfortable in bed was the hardest thing to do with a cast on. I couldn't lay on it since that would be painful. I had to have it raised a little so it was set beside me on a pillow. It was the most awkward way to sleep.

"Jason!" I shouted from the bed. It was already 11 pm at night, I had school tomorrow and I couldn't sleep. He was in the room in seconds. "What's wrong?" he asked looking around the room. "I can't sleep," I said gesturing to the cast on my arm.

He gave me a sympathetic look. "This cast is just so frustrating and I can't get comfortable-"

"Okay, okay. I'll give you some painkillers. Do you want me to sleep with you?" he asked. I quickly nodded. "Okay, give me a sec."

He left and came back in about a minute with water and some Tylenol. I sat up with much struggle and took the glass of water from Jason. "It's small, so you will be fine," he said when he saw me hesitating to take the pill.

I quickly put it in my mouth and almost drowned myself in water just to get it down. "See, it wasn't that hard," he said chuckling at me. I glared at him. "Easy for you to say," I mumbled. "Alright, now scooch over," he said.

I looked up at him. "But, I like the end of the bed."

"Too bad. I like the end of the bed too." We had a stare off before I reluctantly scooted over. He smiled and got in under the covers, covering me at the same time. Since it was my right arm that was in a cast I had it on the pillow next to the wall.

"Is Sally okay?" I asked once we were comfortable. She was sleeping in the guest room at our house since it most likely wasn't safe at hers. Jason didn't want her to be there alone. "She will be. I put a word in with the precinct. They will be looking into it more. I don't want you worrying about it though okay?" he asked. I nodded.

"You know, she told me what you said."

I didn't say anything. I knew exactly what he was talking about. "And I don't blame you for wanting to stop this, I really don't. But you shouldn't intervene, Lisa. I'm serious. You don't know what you might get yourself into. We would all be really devastated if something were to happen to you. I can't watch your every move, even though I wish I could, but please, just don't do anything. Just leave it up to us," he finished. "Okay?"

"Okay."

Jason draped his arm around my stomach and kissed my forehead. "Alright, now go to sleep. You still have school tomorrow," he said. I groaned. I was hoping that maybe, just maybe I would get one day off but no. Life just didn't work that way for me.

He chuckled. "Don't worry. I have already spoken to your teachers about it. You will be fine," he said. I highly doubt my anatomy teacher would give two pennies, but whatever. I nodded and could feel sleep start to take over.

I woke up to the sound of Justin's annoying voice. "Wake up Lisa!" he screamed into my ear. I balled my fist to prevent myself from lunging at him.

I looked up at him to see him smirking at me. "You have three seconds to leave my room," I said in the most intimidating voice I could muster. It probably wasn't much.

"Or what? What are you going to do one arm?" he asked teasingly. He was getting a kick out of this? "Jason told me to wake you earlier so you have enough time to get ready," he said gesturing to my cast.

I guess that is a good thing, but I would have still preferred to sleep a little longer. "Oh, and breakfast is already downstairs. Jason has to leave soon, so hurry up," he said leaving the room.

I looked over at my clock, which read 7:05 am. There was also a cup of water and some more Tylenol. I took them just as I did last night. Hopefully, that kicks in really soon because my arm was really hurting.

I got out of bed with much struggle. The cast on my arm was so unfamiliar and weird. It would take me a little while to get used to it. My mind immediately went to Sally and what she was doing. She was most likely still asleep since yesterday was rough on the both of us, mostly her.

I did my easiest morning routine first, which was brushing my teeth, hair, etc and even though it was easier it was still hard fixing my hair into a ponytail with one hand. I would have to ask someone to help me with that later.

Taking a shower was beyond a struggle mainly because I couldn't get the cast wet. After about 15 minutes I was done and got dressed very slowly. I don't know how I would survive this for 6 weeks.

When I went downstairs into the kitchen I saw everyone except Jason and Sally. "Where is Jason?" I asked. "Good morning to you too, sis," Dylan said taking a bite out of his apple. I sighed. "Good morning everyone," I said dryly.

"Uum what's going on with your hair?" Justin asked looking at me. "I couldn't fix it because of this stupid cast," I said sitting next to Jacob. Jacob gave me a sympathetic look. "Here, let me fix it," he said turning towards me.

I turned around in my seat so that Jacob could work his magic. "You know, I am still waiting to get my hair cut. It's way too long now," I said. "Seriously! I literally find hair everywhere. It's like a hair factory," Justin said.

I glared at him. "It's not even that bad. Most of it is probably yours anyway," I countered. He scoffed. "As if. My hair is not even that long. Jason just cut it again last week," he said smirking. "Well, why don't you blame Dylan? He is combing his hair every minute I am surprised he isn't bald."

"Don't bring me into this," he said still on his phone. "Okay. I will take you after school if it makes you feel that much better," Jacob said.

"Thank you," I said turning around after he finished with my hair. "So is anyone going to answer my question?" I asked looking around the table. "Oh, Jason had to go in early for work. Did you take the pills he left?" Jacob asked.

I nodded. "Can I take some too?"Justin asked looking up from his phone. We all looked at Justin. "You don't take pills for fun, Justin. Only if you actually need them."

"I do! I had a headache all last night."

"Probably because you stayed up playing videogames till 12," Dylan said. Justin's eyes widened slightly. "Yeah, you thought we didn't notice. You aren't very discreet," he continued. I must have been really been asleep because I didn't hear anything.

"Whatever. So is that a no?" Justin asked Jacob. "Is your head still hurting?"

"No."

"Then, no."

We finished our breakfast which was pancakes and eggs just as there was a knock on the door. "Is that Grayson?" I asked looking at Dylan. "Yeah, why?" he asked. I groaned. "Of course," I mumbled. Dylan opened the door and Grayson walked into the kitchen. He was dressed in jeans and a black t-shirt.

"It's time to go, everyone," he said. He snatched an egg from my plate and ate it. What is up with him taking my food? "You are so annoying," I said getting up from my seat. I went to the living room to grab my book bag, but it was taken from me.

I looked up and saw that it was Grayson. "Can I have it back please?" I asked impatiently. I do not have the time to deal with him this morning.

"No. Come in the car," he said walking away. I glared at his back and followed, but stopped. I had to at least see how Sally was doing. "I'll be there in a sec," I said. I walked down to the guest room and knocked. After a minute the door opened to reveal Sally.

She had bags under her eyes and tear streaks. I could tell she had just been crying. She quickly wiped her face and opened the door wider for me to come in. The first thing I thought of was to give her a hug.

I don't know what I would do if my brothers were taken away from me and were in possible danger all the time. The hug was a little awkward because of my cast, but I tried not to think about that.

"I promise you my brothers are going to get to the bottom of this," I said as she cried into my shoulder. All she needed right now was support and hope. After another couple of minutes, we both released from the hug.

"Thanks, Lisa and I am really sorry about your arm," she said gesturing to it. I shook my head. "That should be the least of your worries." And I sort of deserved it, I thought to myself. She gave me a slight smile but it didn't reach her eyes.

"You should get to school. The boys are obviously getting impatient," she said walking back to the bed. I rolled my eyes. They were honking the horn as if their life depended on it. I didn't want to ask why she wasn't at school, or why she wasn't going to school because of the current situation, but I would ask later.

"What are you going to do all day?" I asked. She shrugged and ran a hand through her hair. "I don't know. I guess Jacob will keep my company. I don't have anything else to do," she said. I did feel so bad for her. "You know I can stay home. I am sure Jason wouldn't mi-"

"No, Lisa, go to school. It's probably best," she said plopping onto the bed. I didn't know what she meant by that, but I started to leave anyway. "Afterschool, you can come with me to get my haircut. We can both get one. It will be like old times," I said trying to lighten the mood.

She gave me an incredulous look. "I can't be seen with you guys, remember? I don't even know if she knows I am here, and if she does...." She trailed off and it seemed like she was going to cry.

I mentally punched myself for forgetting something so important. "Right, sorry. Well if it makes you feel any better, I am going to talk to my Dad about it. He is supposed to come over tonight, so I will ask him. He should know something." she nodded not even looking at me. This was just heartbreaking.

It made me feel even worse knowing what I know. I left without another word and closed the door. I felt like crying all over again but decided against that. Along with Sally, I also needed to get my mind off of things.

I turned the corner to see Justin, Dylan, and Grayson standing there. "What are you guys doing?" I asked looking at them. They all looked suspicious. "U-um we were coming to get you?" Justin said more as a question.

I sighed. I didn't have the energy to deal with this. They followed after me as I walked to the car. "Are you really going to ask Dad?" Dylan asked. I nodded getting in the car next to Justin. "Alright then I will ask him with you," he said.

"Okay."

I knew there would be no debating. "Oh and remember Justin and Lisa, if you happen to see that weird guy and you think he is going to do something, go to the office and call Jason," he said. Justin and I both nodded.

I didn't know if he would still show up there since the encounter with Jacob the other day. I saw Grayson glance at me a couple of times, but I ignored it. I just hope this school day goes by fast.

"How on earth did that happen?" Aerial exclaimed. That was the first thing she said when she saw me. I must have explained the story at least 5 times. Instead of telling them the actual story, I just told them I tripped.

"So are you going to let people sign it? Because I want to be the first one," Sarah said. "Um, I think I should be the first one," Anna said. "Or I can be the first one," Lucas said. I was startled that he even contributed to the conversation.

"Um okay. We will let Lucas sign it first," Sarah said looking at him. He glared at her and pulled out a sharpie. I held out my arm for him to sign. He signed near my wrist and in the center. "There. Now you know that I don't dislike you," he said capping the sharpie.

I nodded and smiled at him. "That is good to know," I said. "Ok now that you guys are done flirting," Aerial said. I blushed probably as red as a tomato. Lucas simply rolled his eyes and glared at Aerial. "Have you forgotten? Lisa already has someone," Anna said to her.

Sarah's eyes went wide. "How come I didn't know?" she asked shaking my shoulder. "I am pretty sure I have already told you," I said. "Uum no. I think I would remember," she said. "Yeah, that's like a big deal when one of ours starts dating," Aerial said.

I smiled at the fact that she called me one of theirs. It made me feel better. What would make it even better though, is if Sally could have joined our group, then it would be perfect. I felt a twinge of guilt. I was laughing with friends and she was home crying.

"Hey, you okay?" Lucas asked. I looked at him and nodded. "Yeah, just remembered something that's all," I said. I struggled to get my heavy books out of my locker. You never appreciate the two hands you have until only one is functional.

"Here, I will carry your books, we go to the same first hour anyway," Anna said grabbing the books for me. I thanked her and we began our walk to first hour.

"You know what would be really good?" Sarah asked. "What?" Aerial asked, but it seemed she already knew what she was going to say. "We should have a sleepover. It can wait until Lisa's arm is better, but that would be really cool," Sarah said.

Lucas scrunched his face. "I am not going to spend a night surrounded by a bunch of girls," he said. Anna rolled her eyes. "You hang out with us all of the time," she said. "Yeah, that's different. I am not going to attend a sleepover though," he said.

"It's fine. It can just be us girls. Besides we will have a lot to talk about," she said smirking at Aerial. She blushed and looked away. I wondered what that was about? The bell finally rang signaling first hour.

"Hey, Lucas you wanna know some embarrassing facts about Lisa?"

I smacked Justin on the head. "Lisa, I don't care if you have broken your arm or your face, but I will not tolerate any violence in this class," the teacher said. I shrunk back in my seat. Great, now everyone was looking at Justin and I, and he was too busy laughing.

"I don't think he wants to hear that," I whispered to Justin. 7th hour was always the worst. Sometimes it was funny, and sometimes it was the most annoying class on the planet. We had 5 minutes left of class and it was the longest 5 minutes ever.

I really hated the fact that I had one class with Justin. Even if it was just one class. It was one class too many. "Yeah, I really don't," Lucas said writing down some more notes. "Maybe you should be a good student like him, and actually pay attention in class, instead of bothering me," I whispered.

I was trying to pay attention, but I couldn't. It's not like I could take down any notes since my right arm was broken and I am right handed. "Well, why aren't you taking notes?" Justin asked smirking. I glared at him. One more minute and I am done. Whether the bell rings or not.

"You know sometimes you act like a 3-year-old," I mumbled packing my things. The bell finally rang and Justin picked up my books. "Yeah? Well then you must be a fetus," he said. I decided not to reply to his comment. We were about to walk out of the class, but the teacher stopped us.

"I would like to talk to you two," he said. Justin and I exchanged looks. "What about?" Justin asked. "Please. Have a seat," he said gesturing for us to sit back down. If we were going to get another detention I would be really ticked off and I don't think they would give us a free pass again.

"I have noticed that you two have been really disruptive in my class lately," he started. Justin sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "Listen, none of the other students seem to mind, so what's the problem?"

"The problem is that you should be paying attention in class. Not sharing memories with each other," he said. I scoffed. It was nowhere close to sharing memories. It was more like tragedies that Justin likes to remind me of.

"Ok," Justin said slowly. "We both have a good grade in this class. So why are we here?" He seemed about ready to just walk out the door. "Well, unless you want detention every day for the rest of the school year, I suggest you change your attitudes in class."

My eyes widened at what he was saying. "Detention every day for a year!? Is that even possible?" "I know someone that can make it possible. So unless that is what you want, I suggest you both fix your behavior in class or I will have to call someone," he said.

I furrowed my eyebrows. Call who? The principal? Justin scoffed at him. "This is ridiculous. You are acting like we are the only ones in the class that speaks. Maybe, instead of picking on us, you can just leave us alone and bother someone who is an actual disturbance to the class," he said.

The teacher stood up from leaning on his desk and stood directly in front of Justin. Justin was very tall, but so was the teacher so they were almost head to head.

I tugged on Justin's sleeve. "Come on," I said trying to direct him out of the class before something happened. "No. Is there something that you personally have against me? Or are you doing this for fun?"

I looked between Justin and the teacher. Was Justin really about to fight a teacher? The worse part was that the teacher actually looked like he was about to fight back. "Um, Mr. Valdez?" Another student walked in with a notebook in her hand. She looked just as confused as I was.

This got the attention of the teacher and I dragged Justin out of the classroom as fast as possible. "Are out of your mind? Trying to fight a teacher. Do you know how much trouble that can get you in? Man, I knew you were stupid, but not that stupid," I scolded. He didn't seem the least bothered by what I had to say.

"Nothing was going to happen," he said and then he walked away.
