"Hey!" I called as I turned to Mason.
"Did I wake you up?" he asked.
"I tried my best to be quiet" he added.
"No, it's fine" I replied sitting on the bed.
"What's wrong?" he questioned.
"What did you do at the kid's school today?" I asked folding my hands.
"Nothing, the kids were so happy I dropped them. The teachers, they were all surprised I made it today"
I wanted to give a smile remembering how happy the kid's were after school. But I had something else to be angry about.
"Ellie's presentation was today, the one you helped her prepare for. She asked if I could watch her present and I did. I had to risk my first appointment today but it was worth the smile on her face" he said smiling.
"Her teacher talked to me. She asked of me, your wife and you went ahead to tell her I'm not your wife. As usual, you call me that crazy thing you call me all the time, the mother of your kids. Really, is that all you take me for? A tool? The mother of those two?" I asked in anger.
He stared at me, not remorseful at all, not even a bit.
"So you're gonna get angry cause I called you the mother of my kids?" he asked me.
"They're our kids" I pointed out for the umpteenth time.
He gave a scoff accompanied with a smile as he walked away.
I watched him go, like that, with anger. That's all I felt. Anger.
Just like my mom would always say, it would all pass away. Very soon, he'll realize what he's missing and hopefully, it wouldn't be too late.
But for how long would I wait for his stupid realization?
I've been in wait ever since I had Jason and it's been four years and counting.

"How did work at the clinic go?" he asked the moment I got in the sitting room.
I had just emerged from upstairs where I just finished with my bath.
"I called for Josi, she's upstairs with the kids already" he told me.
Josi is our babysitter. We got really lucky with her. They'll never be any complaint cause she takes care of them the right way. We could be gone for a whole day and not worry with Josi.
"I just got back from work. I'm tired and so, probably you should just go alone to the party" I told him as I turned to walk off.
"Babe you promised. Besides, Carrie has longed to see you"
Carrie is Ned's girlfriend.
"But I'm tired" I told him.
Since yesterday's incidence, I haven't really been myself. I made it home late thinking I'll miss Mason and he'd be gone. But turns out he wanted to wait.
"Ok. I'm sorry for yesterday. Is that better?" he asked as he walked over to where I stood.
"I'm really sorry" he said this time facing me with his hands around my waist.
I stared at him with an angry look around my face and as my face softened, I realized I couldn't remain angry at him.
"It's fine" I voiced out with a groan smiling at him.
"I'll go get dressed" I said landing a light kiss on his lips as I walked off.

I had walked into the play room where Josi would always be with the kids as always.
"Mum!" both Ellie and Jason called in their voices as they rushed to me.
I took them in a hug as I smiled at them both.
"Jo!" I called staring at Josi who immediately got up the floor where she sat playing blocks with the kids.
"Thanks for agreeing to watch over them"
"It's my pleasure Miss Avey" she told me smiling.
"You really look pretty in that dress" she said smiling.
"Thanks" I appreciated smiling too.
"Mom!" Ellie called as I stared at her.
"When are you gonna be back?" she asked.
"Very late" I replied.
"Why can't we come with"
"Aw! Baby, you know very much well that if it wasn't late you both would come with"
It was true. Mason would definitely want them to come with us if it wasn't a late night thing.
"I have to go now, your dad's waiting" I told as I kissed them both on their cheeks.
"Bye mom" they chorused.
