I had succeeded in locking myself all weekend. I couldn't cry any longer, I had wasted enough tears.
Monday had arrived and I was waiting on my lawyer's call. Finally, it came in.
"Miss Avey, he cancelled my appointment with him" he said.
I gave a pause in anger but as I was about speaking, there was a knock on my door.
It got opened and mom walked in. But she was not alone, Mason came in with her from behind.
"What is he doing here mom" I asked angrily.
"I'm off... Have fun!" she said walking away with a smile.
"What are you doing here?" I asked in anger.
"You didn't have to get your lawyer involved. Lemme guess, he was to come meet me to discuss child support huh?" he asked me as he walked close to the bed.
"Yes! After all, it's your child" I let out almost in anger.
"That's if the parental suggests I'm the father" he argued.
"Wow! I haven't been fucked in two years since my last relationship and all of a sudden, we happened, and I'm having a baby, but here you are claiming it's a bastard child. Maybe a paternity test would help clear your doubt" I told him.
"I know..." he had said after a long silence.
I stared at him in surprise.
"What do you know?" I had asked.
"That it's probably my child"
"I just couldn't think straight after I found out I had messed with your family..."
I instantly interrupted him:
"Why do you mean mess with my family?"
I sounded angry.
"Calm down" he had called out to me.
"I'm calm, and I'm listening" I told him.
"I want a kid. Don't want any of the commitment attached to having a wife..."
"So what, you were looking for a desperate loser to help with your baby?" I asked in annoyance.
"I'd have approached her, offered a sum of money for her to give up the child months after its birth. I was looking for someone, someone with a little bit of prestige, someone who wouldn't sleep with just anybody and so, I can always be sure of the paternity of my kid..."
"There's no way I'm giving up my child" I angrily told him.
"I'm sorry, you don't have to. You're obviously worth more than I'm willing to offer. So, come stay with me, lemme support you during this period..."
"All for what?" I asked with a loud scoff.
"Not to take the child away, I promise"
"Please go, I need to concentrate" I told him.
"On what?" he questioned.
"My life" I had immediately yelled in anger.
"I'll leave. But remember my offer. At least, let the kid grow up with both parents in his life" he said walking off.
That's how it all happened.
Three months into my pregnancy, I moved in with Mason.
A month later, we began kissing.
He loved our kid, couldn't wait for him to come. Everything, all that he did was just for our kid.
His girlfriend, she left after she figured he cheated and got me pregnant.
Turns out he had lied.
She didn't cheat, in fact she wasn't.
She just was not ready for a baby yet.

Finally, the baby came, a girl. A beautiful girl. I cried so much the moment she was dropped in my hands.
That precious innocent look on her red face. The bright look on her face, her folded lip as I watched her gently cry, yet so quiet.
She had brought this light, that's what it was in our lives.
I and her father, we getting along pretty well already. At first, I had thought it was cause of the baby but I figured it wasn't. He loved me and it took him exactly nine months to figure that out.
We named her 'Ellie' which means light.
