I had returned home.

To my parents house.

I had locked myself indoors and to my greatest surprise, I wasn't in tears, but I had missed them all, Mason and most especially, my kids. One thing I was sure of is that they were all in good hands. Definitely he'd be the good father he had wanted to be to those kids.

*****

There was a slight knock on the  door and mom walked in.

"Is this how you plan on moving on?" she asked with a smile as she moved towards me.

"If you really want true happiness, you should go after it now, before it's too late. You're not getting younger and time's not gonna stop ticking for you" she said as she sat on the bed.

"I visited" she told me.

My face brightened the moment she said so, and I stared at her concerned.

"They're fine. They all miss you. The house was so quiet, the kids remained in their room and Mason in his. Josi is there, she's looking after them. She claims he hasn't made it out his room since you left. You're both suffering, leaving yourself to suffer and it's bad enough you can't see it"

I stared at her. Was that her advice to me.

"I and your father, we desire true happiness for you. After you had Ellie, we were gonna talk to you, but we saw you were happy with that man. If you weren't, with the constant argument about being official, you'd have walked away, but no Avey, you stayed. It was more than for the kids, it was for your happiness, you love that man. You left, and here you are sulking like a child who's lost his candy. If he's not gonna make things right, be the matured one and do something, you belong with your family" she said getting up the bed as she began walking off.

"I'm tired of having you lay around doing nothing"

It's been how long now since we split up? A week and I had skipped work for that long. Well mom had said all she could in three days and had nothing more to, so she left me.

My phone rang and staring at the screen, it was Mason. That was the first time ever he called since I left him and I was curious as to what he wanted to say.

"What do you want?" I asked placing the phone over my ear as I picked his call.

He didn't greet or say anything, but what he did tell me made me jump up on my feet in haste.

"Be fast" he concluded.

*****

I had rushed to the hospital Mason said they were at wearing a baggy shirt, skinny jeans and heels.

Ellie, something had happened to her and she was at the hospital. I was worried sick, really I was. Hoped she was okay though.

"What happened to her?" I asked the moment I walked into her ward.

Mason paused to stare at me, he tried to give a smile, but couldn't.

He looked pale, his eyes like he hadn't slept in days. So moving on was this hard on him.

I didn't realize.

If he was going to feel like this if he lost me, why couldn't he make things right?

I had better things to think of. I needed to worry about my baby, not a grown ass man.

"How long has she been here?" I asked.

"I was driving here when I called, she was unconscious when we got here"

"Unconscious?" I asked in terror as Mason gave a short nod as reply.

"Jason?"

"He's home, left Josi with him, he would be fine" he answered me.

I instantly began to walk away. I moved outside the door and held my phone over my ears as I called Josi.

"Yes, bring him over. His sister is not with him, he's gonna be worried" I told her.

"Thank you Josi" I said ending the call.

"What did they say is wrong with her?" I asked.

"I didn't let them. Didn't want to know alone. Avey I need you by my side. I need you just so I can function well. She's fine, our baby's fine Avey, she's just asleep. I needed to get you here to me..." he voiced out in a rush.

"What?" I asked in surprise.
