The door opened again few seconds after Ellie left and Mason walked in.

I stared at him glued to the floor with his eyes on me with a wild smile.

"Hey!" I greeted as we both began walking towards each other meeting midway.

"You look..." he said with a pause not knowing the right word.

"I know" I said with a smile moving closer to him.

"Did the portrait get here?" he asked painting a light kiss on my lip giving time for me to reply before he continued.

"Yes!" I answered amidst his kisses.

It was delivered earlier in the day. A portrait of both his parents. He did not invite a lot of people, didn't want it to be big. Just family, friends and I had invited just my mom and dad.

"It's really amazing" I told him still in between kisses.

Soon, I stopped talking and followed with whatever he was doing. The kiss, it had gotten intense, and I knew it was going to lead to one thing or the other. So, I stopped us before it did.

"Go to the bathroom, have your bath and get dressed. Your guests are arriving. You don't wanna be late to your own occasion" I told him breaking our kiss.

"Common..." he called.

"I'm serious..." I said placing my hands on his chest.

There it was, I felt it in his leather jacket, like a jewellery box.

He had immediately moved away the moment my hands fell on his chest.

"What's that?" I asked smiling.

"Nothing" he replied smiling back.

"I love you..." he said to me as he walked off with a smile.

All around the house was filled with several guests. I knew most of them, yes, but still, I had no business with them.

For me, there was just mom and dad alongside Josi.

It was seven already and whatever Mason had planned was just a two hour thing.

"Where's your husband?" mom asked me.

I stared at her and I could tell she just wasn't asking for the sake of asking.

"What now mum?" I asked with a tired voice.

"I wanna know when he's gonna treat my daughter right. I have two wonderful grand babies and I'm so happy. But I want more than this for you all" she voiced out.

"Well if he comes around, you tell him. But... I did feel a jewellery box in his pocket" I said with a low smile.

Mom stared at me in surprise smiling too.

"I know, we can't be too sure, but I'm sure it is now" I told her.

That moment, Josi walked up to us.

"Your husband has been looking around for you" she told my mom.

"Really?" she asked as she quietly walked off.

"Did I hear of a jewellery box?" she asked me smiling.

"Let's not get too happy now" I told her smiling as I walked over to where we sat.

"I couldn't keep up with the kids, especially Ellie and her mouth, so I left them to be on their own" she told me.

"Oh, it's fine" I told her.

"It's really great what he's doing for his parents" she said with a deep sigh after a long period of silence.

"It's okay Josi" I told her with concern.

"No, it's nothing" she said.

"I'm really happy you have something to hold unto, the kids, Mr. Mason, your parents. If you ever question things about life, look back on all of this" she told me.

She had nothing, no family, except this little one I shared with her.

"I know... Thank you" I told her smiling.
