Chapter 23: 23.

Storm ≛ Tony Stark ≛Words: 9307

The portal that ripped through the Earth's sky pulsated as multiple leviathans and more Chitauri in chariots descended on the city. The Avengers looked up and deflated as their battle was far from over. Tony landed on the street in his suit and stood next to Sue, the two turning to each other for a moment before looking back to Steve, who turned to address the plan.

'Alright, listen up,' he started. 'Until we can close that portal up there, we're gonna use containment. Barton, I want you on that roof, eyes on everything. Call out patterns and strays. Stark, you got the perimeter with Storm-'

'Me?' Johnny cut in.

'Of course, you!' Sue looked at her brother who pointed a dumb finger at himself. 'What good am I in the sky?!'

'Who is this flaming man?' Thor asked, having not been introduced to Johnny since his arrival. 'Is he a witch like the disappearing wench?'

'Wench?!' Sue cried in horror.

'Hold up there, Jesus,' Tony said through his suit with his hand up at Thor. 'No one calls Houdini a wench when I'm here-'

'Please!' Steve yelled and the group went silent. The man shook his head at the immaturity. 'Can we get back to the plan?!'

Sue scoffed as Johnny crossed his arms over his chest, flames licking at the muscles that bulged from their captivity. Tony looked away from Thor, the demi-god unaware of Tony's tongue that stuck out mockingly from behind his mask. Steve let out a sigh and grabbed the bridge of his nose in frustration.

'Right, Johnny, Stark, anything gets more than three blocks out, you turn it back or you turn it to ash!'

'Wanna give me a lift?' Clint asked Tony.

'Right. Better clench up, Legolas.'

Tony went behind Clint and took hold of his arms, flying up into the sky to get the man onto the top of a building. Johnny was engulfed by his inferno and jumped away from the group, heading in the opposite direction to begin scouting the perimeter with Tony. He left a small fire on the floor where he stood and Sue turned her foot into it to put it out.

'Thor, you've gotta try and bottleneck that portal,' Steve started again. 'Slow them down. You've got the lightning. Light the bastards up.'

Thor swung his hammer to rotate it and pull him up and away to get in his position.

'Sue, the subways are rammed right now. I need you down there and make sure no Chitauri are hurting anyone. You can get onto the streets once everyone's safe,' Steve instructed to her and she nodded, heading off to the closest subway station.

'You and me,' Steve turned to Natasha. 'We stay on the ground. Keep the fighting here. And Hulk...'

Bruce whipped around and stared down at the man. His shoulders heaved and his chest was puffed out in preparation to do some damage.

'Smash.'

Bruce grinned and leapt upwards to climb the nearest building. Chitauri didn't stand a chance as they attempted to penetrate Bruce's green skin with their weapons but were crushed by his fists. They came down on them with their mighty strength and Bruce roared as he watched them explode. The Chitauri were thrown to the ground and squished into walls, their green blood leaking and splattering everywhere in a bloodbath.

Sue ran down the stairs that led down into the station. She swung around on the handrails and found Chitauri snarling after civilians that ran in fear. With her hands at the ready, Sue consumed three soldiers in balls of blue. Their legs were forced into their chests as they levitated in the air, trying to break free of the bubbles that surrounded them. Sue shrunk the bubbles and the Chitauri let out a collective scream as they were sucked into themselves. Body parts and blood splattered onto the walls and on the civilians, who stared in horror at the disgusting goo on their clothes.

'Ew,' a twelve-year-old boy cringed at the green on his hands and face.

'Sorry...' Sue let out before more creatures crawled down the stairs from behind her. She whipped around as the people ran further into the station, leaving Sue to hold a forcefield at the entrance. They fired their blasts, but she held it steady, her legs spread a part and her fingers stretched wide on her outstretched hands.

The battle went on in the station and Sue was feeling herself fatigue at the amount of power she used. She fired spikes, spheres, disks, even just forces of power at Chitauri that tried to infiltrate the station. It got to a point where she threw her head and shoulders down, willing the near invisible force to fly off her in a wind of attack. The Chitauri were thrown against the wall and the necks broke at the strength of the attack.

'Sue? How are you going?' she heard in her ear. She knew Tony was monitoring her vitals and could see her fatigue. She put her finger to her ear and noticed how much green blood covered her glove and arm. Not only green, but red of her own aswell.

'I'm okay...' she said through her pants. 'This is proving to be quite the workout.'

'Your workouts must be weird.'

'How's Johnny?'

'I'm awesome,' her brother's voice intervened.

Johnny singed Chitauri flesh as he produced blasts of fire from his hands. He took out chariots and ignited groups of the army. He spun in circles as he flew through buildings, keeping an eye out for his team below. Bruce was seen throwing Chitauri around like ragdolls and Johnny helped him out by sending an inferno down to the ones that attempted to sneak up on him.

'Can I ask what the big, green thing is?' he said into his earpiece as he flew off with chariots on his tail.

'That could've been you, you know,' Sue said in his ear. 'Just be lucky it wasn't gamma radiation that hit us.'

'Yeah, cos cosmic's way cooler,' Tony's voice came just as his suit flew over the top of Johnny. The man looked over his shoulder as Tony circled around to fly parallel to him, the two keeping the same speed.

'You touched lips with my sister, Stark,' Johnny said, his voice travelling through his earpiece. 'You better hope you've got a fire extinguishing unit in that suit of yours.'

Tony smirked inside his suit and flew past Clint on top of a building, lining up some chariots to be taken down by his arrows. Johnny sent streams of fireballs down to soldiers on the street, helping Steve and Natasha who fought diligently. Steve's shield clashed into chests and ripped through armour, but he took hits that hurt. Natasha took hold of a bayonet from a Chituari and used it against another, dealing with her own injuries.

'Sir, Miss Storm's suit is telling me that she's been injured,' JARVIS's voice said in Tony's suit and his eyes looked to the body that was outlined on his screen. A red part of the waist was highlighted, and he looked to the map that showed where she was in the city.

Sue clenched her side as she sent a transparent spike through a Chitauri's eye. She had just climbed the stairs out of a subway station when she was caught off guard by a blast colliding with her side. The suit was ripped open and exposed the burn that sizzled into her skin. Blood dribbled out from the rawness and fell down her hip, the suit's technology not built to take a blast so close.

'Sue!' Tony flew down and let his boosters cut out as he touched the floor. His mask flew up as he walked over and exposed the few injuries he acquired on his face. He looked down to see where Sue held her hand and saw the wound through her suit.

'It's fine,' Sue let out and winced at the sting. 'Not getting tired, are you?'

'Not a chance.'

Tony and Sue stayed together for the next hour. They moved into the street that Thor and Steve worked on, Clint somewhere up high firing arrows down to help. Johnny was seen flying over head every now and again leaving flames in his wake. Bruce was heard smashing and roaring at leviathans that attempted to be the biggest monster of the city.

Natasha flew on a chariot she highjacked, using the alien weaponry she worked out how to use. Johnny saw her take down other chariots and followed behind her, watching her back and turning Chitauri to dust that tried to sneak up on her. Loki attempted to take them both down but let out a cry when Johnny's fire ball encountered his shoulder. Bruce soon took him through Stark tower and gave him a well-deserved beating.

'Duck!' Tony yelled at Sue, and she did as she was told. He fired his repulsor at the Chitauri that went to charge at her and it squealed as its stomach was blown through. Sue put her knee to the floor in a crouch and threw a sphere to the right of Tony, watching it barrel into the alien about to fire its weapon at him.

The pair fought side by side with Thor and Steve not too far away. Thor's hammer roared past as it collided with the head of an alien heading for Sue, before it retreated into his hand. Sue nodded his way in appreciation before forming a barrier around him in return, sending it outwards to throw the pouncing Chitauri back into the buildings surrounding.

'I'm in your debt, witch,' Thor bowed his head and Sue sent a grin his way.

'And I to you, Barbra Streisand.'

Thor pinched his eyebrows in confusion at the reference. Sue disappeared for a moment before materializing next to him, making him jump in surprise. He grumbled at her grin before sending his hammer through a group of charging Chitauri. Sue looked up and saw Tony fly through a leviathan and explode it from the inside, scattering its form everywhere.
