"Bring it on,"
With a groan, Selena let her eyes blink open once, twice, before the vision finally cleared. However, as soon as the memories came back, her eyes became wide open and she turned her head to look at her mate.
Xavier was still there beside her, holding her in his arms tightly, but not too uncomfortably. However, unlike what Selena had expected, Xavier was wide. He was looking at her with a small smile on his lips as he played with her hair.
"I have linked Ryan to postpone the meeting until we say so. The warriors are ready as soon as you are," he mumbled, not wanting to interrupt the peaceful silence. Yet, they both knew that they didn't have the privilege to enjoy such moments.
They understood the need to not waste time. Selena smiled back at Xavier and with a quick kiss got up to take a shower before the meeting. Soon after she entered, Xavier too followed her in.
Within fifteen minutes, both the alphas were ready and headed towards the meeting room on the ground floor.
Xavier didn't know much about the plan Selena had in mind, so he too wanted to attend the meeting. Selena had mind-linked Ryan, letting him know to assemble the assigned warriors. They didn't want to waste any more time.
"I still feel we should have taken the support of the other packs," Xavier muttered.
"The packs that are your allies are comparatively smaller and definitely not as strong as us. Calling them to fight these hunters," Selena shook her head, "It will be a suicide mission for them. It was a good idea to have placed our wolves in your closest allied pack. I am sure the Blood Moon Pack is happy to help."
Xavier nodded. Selena knew the look of uncertainty that Xavier was currently sporting. Nobody ever looks eager for war.
'Eh, except for psychopaths maybe.'
Selena scoffed on hearing Izzy but shook her head when Xavier looked at her with confusion and a bit of amusement.
"I have written a letter to the Werewolf Council," she said trying to change the topic, "with your pack stamp on it."
Xavier raised an eyebrow and looked at her, "And what did you say?"
"That if we lose, it will also mean that they are far stronger than we thought and cannot be taken down by a single pack and that they need to unite all of the strong packs and attack them together. I also have another letter, which I have spelt to be delivered to them via magic if we die, telling them all of the secrets of these hunters."
"Smart move," he nodded, "I still feel like having more manpower would have been a good decision."
"Too late," she shook her head, "It will be more of a liability to protect them. Plus, their alpha if smart wouldn't send them, they need their warriors to protect their own pack. And the stronger packs which are further away, they won't reach in time. Add to that the fact that you don't have many allies."
"Yeah well, this hunters' group is an exception. We don't have this large a group of enemies, and I have never needed help."
"Arrogant."
"You love it."
With a smirk, both of them finally entered Xavier's office together. With the strong vibe they gave off, they looked like a couple on a mission, and sure they were.
Selena saw that Evelyn and Jayce were there too. It made her happy to see that Xavier considered the fact that since he was supposed to be her beta, it would be smart to place him under her command.
She clapped her hands and rubbed them together, "Okay guys, we are the game changers who are going to take the advantage into our hands. I hope you boys and girls are ready."
"Yes, ma'am!" they all replied with determination, making her smile in pride.
"Good," she nodded, "let's get to it then."
She closed her eyes and held her hands over the empty table. With her eyes closed, and her mind completely focused on the task, she was able to draw a blueprint of the hunters' den with her magic.
A few of the warriors gasped and Xavier felt immense pride over how far Selena had come with her magical powers. Her training with Lorcan had sure helped her develop into the witch she was born to be.
However, the pack alarm rang loudly just as Seth burst into the office, "They are here! We are under attack!"
"What?" Xavier Xavier said in a voice so calm, it sent chills down the spine of some of the warriors. During any adversities, angry Xavier was one thing, but calm Xavier... the whole pack knew it was the calm before the storm, "I thought we..."
"They changed plans," Selena whispered, she looked at the group of warriors and at Xavier, "We have to improvise. If they have attacked we have to get going right now."
"Hey, be safe," Xavier said as he pulled her in. They both felt the other's heart beating like a drum. This kiss, they both knew it might just be their last.
Selena too kissed him back with as much passion as she could conjure. The warriors looked away but they didn't care. "Kick ass, and don't die."
Saying this Selena headed out from the back of the pack with her group of warriors. It was time.
____|~.~|____
After making sure that Selena and her group of warriors left from the backside of the packhouse unseen by the hunters, Xavier, Ryan, Connor and Aiden were leading their defence against the rogue attack.
When they all exited the packhouse, the first thing that registered in their head was chaos.
One thing they didn't expect was that these rogues seemed stronger than the previous ones that had attacked. Ryan and Aiden jumped into the scene to help their pack mates as soon as they got out of the packhouse. However, Xavier and Connor stood at the gate, fighting only the rogues that attacked them or tried to enter the house, and observed the current situation.
'Gamma Roy, are the wolves safe in the bunker?' Xavier linked Roy.
'Yes, Sir,' Roy instantly replied, sounding a little out of breath, 'All the non-warrior wolves are safe in the bunker and there are five of the top warriors around that area making sure no one enters there.'
'Good,' Xavier nodded, his eyes turning black. 'Wolves!' he opened his link to all the warriors, 'Let's show these fuckers why they shouldn't have messed with the Ferocious Shadows,' He finished with a growl as the presence of Zion seeped into his voice.
As he stepped down from the porch of the packhouse, two wolves with blood-red eyes approached Xavier with a look of disgust. Xavier growled with silver eyes as he held one of the wolves' opened snout in his hands, ripping him in two, spilling blood on his clothes and face.
The other's wolf's hesitation on seeing this gave Xavier the advantage as he kicked the head of the wolf, misbalancing it and followed that step by breaking its neck. He spat the blood that had found its way into his mouth from the first rogue and jumped onto his next target.
Aiden and Ryan were fighting side by side, watching each other's back. The number of rogues that had attacked was more than the number of warriors fighting in the pack. However, the thing that worked in favour of the pack was that the rogues were not very well trained and were fighting recklessly. For most of the warriors, their strength and fast movements enabled them to take on two rogues at the same time.
Xavier was on a killing spree. He had been butchering through any rogue that came in his way. The pack members hadn't seen their alpha this furious ever. Xavier turned around and tore apart another one of the rogues before his eyes fell on Connor.
He was fighting one of the rogues in his human form. The fight had already resulted in a few scratches on Connor which were bleeding already. When the wolf flew towards Connor, the soldier used his hand to swipe at it, making it fly away a few feet from him.
However, as Connor and the wolf were having a stare-down, Xavier noticed another rogue creeping up on Connor from the side. The alpha was quick on his feet as he kicked the wolf that was struggling at his feet, making him unconscious before he soon stopped breathing. Xavier turned and gave his full attention to the scene in front of him.
Just as Connor started running towards the wolf, Xavier did too. Both of them jumped and shifted at the same time, making the two, majestic and huge black wolves crossing each other in the air. Connor jumped on his initial target, tearing his throat apart with his teeth as Xavier did the same to the other wolf with ease.
The two black wolves acknowledged each other with a single nod and jumped on the other targets.
As much as the leaders and the warriors were easily killing the rogues, no one could deny that the rogues surely had some elevated strength that had caught them by surprise. The pack warriors were more tired than they had thought they would be at this stage.
The rogues had attacked from the north. The more they advanced, the more they spread. As a result of this, the backside of the pack was almost completely clear. Aiden and Ryan were leading the warriors in the west while Xavier and Connor lead the northern and eastern sides.
After nearly forty-five minutes, Xavier noticed that only ten or such rogues were holding up and his warriors had them in control. He shifted from wolf to human and looked around to assess the situation.
None of his warriors had lost their lives, so he was very proud and happy about it. But he also saw how tired his wolves were getting. This worried him to a certain extent.
Xavier turned to look at the packhouse to see if the building was harmed in any way and was greeted by two of his warriors, along with Seth, bringing out two men with them, who looked terrified.
Xavier's eyes darkened with silver peeking through as his lips set in a straight line, his eyes switching between the two men, "What is this?"
"We found these men trying to enter the pack from the back door. They had gotten inside and were trying to find something when our warriors found them," Seth reported.
The two humans were now trembling. With their guns in the hands of the werewolves, these males were completely in the mercy of the beasts they so love to hunt down.
"Well, well, well," the two men looked behind Xavier, "You guys began the party before I came? What did I miss?"
They stared at Lorcan as they made their appearance, and their trembling increased further when Lorcan's eyes turned a light shade of violet.
The last of the whimpering and whining of the rogues died down. Roy gave a victorious howl to let everyone know that the last one of the rogues were dead. Xavier's glare on the men kept getting stronger and scarier.
The warriors, too eager to see these men punished, pushed them towards Xavier's feet, making them fall on them.
"Don't kill us, please, don't... they sent us to..."
"To murder my pack member by sneaking up on them?" Xavier countered with a raised eyebrow.
Lorcan smiled, "Why is it that you are actually here?!"
The men remained silent but still trembling.
"It is very much unlikely that they would send just two men to sneak in the pack safe house to kill so many wolves. No way are that that stupid," Xavier said and Lorcan took a step forward.
With a single flick of his fingers, there emerged a fireball in his hand. Lorcan took another step forward and brought his hand closer to the face of one of the hunters.
The other one was already bawling his eyes out, scared, and this one, he knelt still, scared that even the slightest movement will lead to his skin burning.
"Don't you have anything to say?" Lorcan moved his hand as if to throw the fireball up. The blazing ball of fire then started revolving around the two hunters, moving around them in the pattern of a horizontal eight, not really burning them but making them feel the angry heat.
Both of them remained silent except for a few whimpers and sniffles.
"Fucking speak already!" Ryan shouted as he landed a punch on the face of a guy.
"Tchk... too bad you think their motive to be more important than your own lives." With that, Lorcan's eyes turned bright violet again, and the fireball grew in size right in between the two men, making their skin bristle.
"No, no! I will tell you," the other one pleaded, the one who got punched was still dead silent, "They sent us here to..."
A loud bang interrupted the hunter and one area filled with complete smoke. The werewolves near that area started coughing, holding their throats as if it was burning.
"Distraction," Xavier said and at the same time, Ryan said, "Wolfsbane."
Xavier's breathing was started to grow faster and harsher. His anger was ready to take over his complete being as he started realizing that just as they had expected, the hunters had actually made a full-on plan to take on his pack.
With a loud, rage-filled growl, he killed the one who was speaking first, by a single swap of his hand, he had severed the head of the human. The other one momentarily raised his head to see what happened. His mouth opened and an inaudible gasp left his mouth as he saw his friend's lifeless and headless body fall on the floor.
The man screamed and fell on the floor, hyperventilating. He was crawling backwards, while still looking at his dead partner when Connor stopped him from behind. Connor lifted him up by his collar and looked at Xavier.
"Did you mind? I kinda wanted to get my hands on these pieces of shit," he grinned evilly.
"Go ahead," Xavier shrugged. As the alpha turned around to talk to a warrior about clearing the area because of the Wolfsbane bombs, Connor's hand entered the chest cavity of the hunter. While looking straight at the hunter's eyes, Connor pulled out his heart and threw his lifeless body aside.
A loud bang sounded before Connor could even move and the warrior on his left grunted and fell on his knees. A red spot speared over his heart which kept growing bigger and bigger. The warrior looked up at his alpha and opened his mouth to speak but blood spilt through the side of his mouth. A single tear escaped his eyes and he fell forward lifeless.
"Marcus!" Xavier exclaimed and rushed to his side.
"They came with fucking snipers?!" Lorcan shouted in alarm and looked towards the woods.
"Damn it!" Xavier growled, "Somebody make sure the doctors are available!"
"Shit is about to hit the fan," Ryan muttered, his eyes on the woods too.
"Bringit on," Connor growled, getting ready.
