"...please let me make things right"

When Selena and Xavier reached the packhouse, they both headed straight to the office. The atmosphere was rather awkward. Xavier opened the door of the office for her as she walked in with him right behind her.

Little moves like these that Xavier did reminded her of the time before all this drama happened, of the time when he showed that he cared.

Xavier's eyes followed his mate as she went to stand by the window.

"We have called Lorcan," Selena said, still facing away from him.

Xavier lowered his eyes and stepped forward, not stopping until he was right beside her.

"He's here already?"

She nodded, "He came with another witch, his girlfriend I think."

"Damn, he finally found someone."

Selena didn't answer.

They both stood there silently, still staring at the woods. Xavier stole a few glances at her. Selena could feel his eyes on her, but not knowing what to say or what exactly he wanted to say, she decided to not acknowledge it.

The tension between the two of them was making both of them extremely uncomfortable. All Xavier wanted right at that moment was to hold her, kiss her, and show her how extremely sorry he was for everything that they went through.

'DO THAT THEN!!' Zion screamed, the wolf hadn't touched his mate in forever, he was losing his senses.

'No!' Xavier screamed back internally, 'I can't just kiss her out of the blue.'

'Why not, she's our mate,' the wolf whined.

'She is, but I messed up, I need to apologize.'

'Then apologize, moron,' he whined again, 'just get me my mate back.'

Xavier sighed and completely turned sideways, now facing her. The movement was so abrupt that it caught her but surprise and she too turned to look at him, resulting in both of them staring at each other in a comical way, with their eyes wide open.

'Uh... what's happening?' Izzy asked, just as confused as all the four consciences now present in the room.

"I am so sorry," Xavier blurted out, making Selena raise an eyebrow.

"Did something happen?" she asked confused, concern lacing her voice.

"A lot of things did," Xavier whispered and his eyes softened, "I gave in to things that I shouldn't have. I believed a video over something that you told me; I took an impulsive decision, hurting a lot of people who are important to me." He took her hand in his.

Selena tensed slightly but she didn't pull her hand back, she stared right back at his eyes.

"I shouldn't have impulsively demoted you, I should have given you the benefit of the doubt, you didn't deserve all these."

"Xavier..."

"No, please let me."

She closed her eyes, allowing him to continue.

"My pack, my grandparents built this pack from nothing. It means a lot to me. To know that my mate might be a danger to it," he paused, his eyes rapidly moving all over her face, "it was a terrifying thing to even imagine. I didn't know what to do."

"So you gave up on me?" She asked, after a long time without concealing the hurt tone.

"No," he replied instantly, bringing in his other hand and placing it on her cheek and took a step forward, "I never gave up on you."

Selena stared at him. She didn't utter a single word.

Xavier took the silence as his cue to continue, "I was constantly looking for any evidence that I could find but there was nothing. Turns out..."

"They had witches, yeah, I know."

Xavier sighed, "I know that I hurt you..."

"Yes you did," she interrupted

"I know," he breathed, "I hurt you, a lot, and you didn't deserve even a single bit of it. I messed up. But even after all this, I still wanna ask you, please let me make things right? Let me make up for my mistakes... give me another chance, please?"

For a few seconds, Selena just stared at him. There was sincerity shining in his eyes but she had been burnt once, and trust didn't come easily once it was shredded. But was she ready to give up on her soul mate? Was she ready to unleash madness on both her and Xavier's souls?

She even tried to hear what Izzy had to say but the wolf was dead quiet, not even a whisper of what was going on in her head.

"It won't be easy," she whispered, a single tear escaping her eye. This is all she wanted for herself, her mate by her side. Even if she's not sure about trusting him with her heart, how could she let go when she loved him? Trust will build again eventually... right?

"Doesn't matter how hard," he whispered.

Xavier rubbed off the stain left by the tear on her cheek and left his hand there. He leaned in, resting his forehead on hers, feeling the heat of her skin. Both of them remained like that; their eyes closed, just enjoying being in the presence of their mates.

"Don't make me regret this," Selena whispered. Her voice was barely audible but Xavier heard her.

"Over my dead body," he whispered back. Selena finally moved her hands and rested them on his hips. Xavier shivered slightly, letting Selena feel how much control she had over him.

"Goddess, I so wanna kiss you," he breathed, their noses touching.

"Then what are you waiting for?"

Neither of them needed any more time to waste. Xavier held her firmly yet gently as he took her lips in his.

Selena melted under the kiss as Xavier bit her lips before swiping his tongue over it to soothe the pain. It seemed like it had been ages since he had kissed her.

Selena too was completely enchanted. It was after a long time, that she felt complete, finally back with her soul mate, and Xavier felt the same way.

There was no fight for dominance in the kiss. They were both gently just caressing each other, trying to show the other one everything they felt.

The mate bond makes people feel sexually attracted towards each other, it makes you feel overprotective and possessive, but it doesn't bring in love. Love is something that is completely up to the mates.

"I missed you," Xavier muttered when they stopped to take a breath.

"I missed you too," Selena whispered with a slight blush on her cheeks.

Selena looked up at Xavier, and smiled at him, making him smile too and pull her back for another kiss. His hands roamed down her back until it reached her waist and he pulled her tightly against him.

Selena moaned, loving the feeling of his hands on her skin and held his shoulders tightly, scared to let him go, almost as if he'll vanish if she loosened her grip.

They both were so very engrossed in the kiss that none of them heard the knock on the door. They didn't hear the click of the lock when the door opened, neither did they sense the presence of the other being in the office.

"Woah..."

Xavier slowly let go of her lips, holding on until the last minute with his teeth. They were both busy taking deep breaths to fill their complaining lungs. They stood still, neither of them pulling away, as their foreheads touched again.

"Lorcan, impeccable timing as always," Xavier said a bit harshly, but the man took no offence.

"Love you too, bro." The warlock smirked. He walked in happily and seated himself on one of the chairs.

Xavier sighed and kissed Selena's forehead, "You wanna stay here?"

"Sure," she answered.

Xavier squeezed her waist before pulling his hand away from her, letting her move to her favourite spot by the window. He thought about getting another work table and chair by the window for Selena in that room if she'd like.

Selena could feel the eyes of her mate and she couldn't stop the irregular beating of her heart. Xavier heard it and when Selena turned to look at him he smiled at her reassuringly and lovingly before he turned to face his old friend.

"Heard you got a girlfriend?" he asked. When Lorcan smirked, Xavier continued, "How is she?"

Lorcan's smirk turned into a lopsided grin. "Amazing," he smiled dreamily.

"Nice to know," Xavier nodded. Selena took a seat beside Lorcan as Xavier took the single seat on the opposite side, "Now, where are my parents?"

The question might have come off as rude, but Xavier made sure to use a genuinely curious tone.

Lorcan answered the question, "They are in the town which is away from us."

Xavier nodded, "Okay, can you take me there?"

"Not right now, I had to use my powers earlier today and my energy is a bit low, let's try again tomorrow."

Xavier wanted to ask him again, but he knew better than to push him. He nodded his head, making Lorcan jump over to the next question.

"So you guys kissed and made up?" he smirked.

"Shut up," Xavier groaned. Lorcan however didn't miss the gentle smile on his face when he saw her blushing.

"Okay then," Lorcan stood up and brushed his shirt, "I am gonna go enjoy with my girl. I suggest you two do the same, there's a lot you need to catch up on."

Saying this, Lorcan clicked both of his fingers, removing himself from that room.

Xavier raised an eyebrow, "Couldn't wait huh..."

Selena stood up too, "Hey, I am gonna go talk to Connor about something..."

"Can that wait?" Xavier interrupted her.

"Uh... yeah I guess, why?" Selena asked with a frown.

Xavier stood up and walked till he stood right in front of her, "Because I am calling a meeting, and it is important that all of you are there too."

Selena nodded with understanding and turned to leave the room but Xavier pulled her back by her arm, surprising her, and as a result losing her footing and falling against his chest.

"Thank you," he spoke genuinely, and Selena smiled at him she nodded her head and Xavier leaned in to place a kiss on her cheek. "You blush a lot," he noted.

"Shut up," Selena groaned and pushed him off slightly as she walked off, Xavier chuckled as he followed her out, they both headed downstairs.

"So you two are okay now?" Connor asked and Ryan and Ileana smiled at them.

"We spoke, and we are trying to move past it. Sure it won't be rainbows and butterflies right away, but..."

"But I hope neither of you mess up again, I know you can hold a grudge. I am just glad that you chose to give him another chance." Connor smiled reassuringly.

"Me too," she smiled.

"We all are," Aiden said as he joined the group.

Selena's smile fell slowly as she saw the prominent dark circles under his eyes, "Aiden, you okay?"

"I just need to get some sleep, which I would have if that stupid scent didn't haunt me day and night," he grumbled.

They all looked at him with sympathy but it didn't last long as Xavier came to the podium. All the pack members had accumulated there and Xavier was ready to start the meeting.

Some of the wolves, the teenagers mostly, had huge smiles on their faces but the older wolves looked sceptical. Xavier chose to ignore it for whatever cause, but Selena frowned, she didn't have a great feeling about this.

"This meeting is held with the intention of letting you guys know that things are gonna be very tightly monitored from now on. As you all know, the hunters were able to attack us inside our own territory, somehow they always seem to know our border patrols and everything. So some rules are being brought into action from now on."

His eyes roamed the entire hall and stayed on Stacy for more than a few seconds.

"No one leaves the pack after dark. If you must, there should be at least two warriors accompanying you. Nobody leaves the territory without informing me, Selena, Ryan, or Connor."

"Yes alpha," a few people replied.

"We are glad you are okay, sir," Seth, who was standing in the front of the group, said with a smile, making Xavier smile back.

"I am glad to be back, Seth."

He looked up and once again, looked at Stacy.

"Stacy, would you mind stepping forward?" He asked stiffly.

Stacy's eyes widened as she slowly took the steps until she stood ahead of everyone, "Yes?"

"Would you like to tell us why you were sneaking out of the pack and where you were going?"

"What?" she asked looking stupefied.

Xavier's face remained impassive. "A lot of my wolves have seen you going out of the territory, sneaking out mostly, and they also commented that they couldn't get your scent, do you wanna explain why?"

"What, are you gonna call her a traitor too?" One of the men screamed from the back.

Xavier instantly had his eyes on the wolf who stood there with his chest puffed out, looking all ready for a fight.

"Excuse me?" Xavier asked, trying to keep his calm.

"You blamed your own mate, made her go through hell, now you are doubting one of your friends?"

"Ethan, how much about the current situation do you know?" Xavier asked.

"Enough to know that we are not safe under your rule."

Everyone gasped. Selena raised an eyebrow and then narrowed her eyes on the man whom she recognized as one of the brutes who took advantage of her downfall to show his machismo.

"You made your own mate, our Luna, go through hell. How do we know that you care about us?"

Xavier stood still, trying to figure out how to approach this situation, as a lot of other people also seemed to be agreeing with him.

"If you have so much respect for your Luna, then why did you take part in making her life hell in this pack?"

Theshouts silenced as everyone's eyes fell on the said Luna. Selena was fuming, her glaring eyes constantly focused on Ethan and her anger could be felt in thewhole room.
