31. The Kiss

Dillon

Libra had missed out on movie night and instead left Sophia, Jack and him to watch Good Fellas. He had asked Sophia at times throughout the evening what Libra was up to and all she had said was that she had a lot to study. Somehow Dillon felt like that wasn't it and that Sophia was lying to him but he had no idea why. When she asked Jack to follow her up to her apartment Dillon was officially concerned. He cleaned up the chips and drink they had eaten during the movie and tried to keep himself busy until Jack had returned.

When he heard the door slam he rushed to meet Jack before he headed into his room, he had to find out what was going on with Libra. Perhaps there was another elevator incident or Todd had come on to her again, whatever it was he wanted to know and help.

"Hey man, is everything alright with Sophia and Libra? She didn't show up tonight and then Sophia seemed a bit off..." he tried to stay with his calm voice but he was certain Jack could see the pleading and desperation in his eyes.

Jack only shrugged his shoulders and walked past him into the kitchen area to grab the leftovers of the chips in the bowl. He had yet to speak but Dillon had followed him and was waiting patiently for whatever answers Jack would give him. A thousand responses floated around in his mind and refused to leave until a real one would replace it.

"I'm sure it's just a girl's thing. Sophia only wanted to ask me to join her for a party she's going to tomorrow, she doesn't want to go alone and Libra couldn't make it."

His heart relaxed a bit and started beating close to normal phase again. Sophia felt embarrassed about going alone to a party and Libra was studying, he could handle that. Libra was a good student who liked to study so he bought that off the bat and he didn't know Sophia well enough to disagree with Jack's statement. But that still didn't answer the question why Libra hadn't at least texted to inform him that she wouldn't be coming tonight – she had before.

His mind was itching to find out more from Jack and thanked the Gods that they had become fast friends; otherwise this conversation would be slightly awkward. By now Jack could tell he cared for Libra and if he just explained that maybe he would let on if there was something he should be concerned about.

"Are you sure it's just that? She usually texts whenever she can't make it."

"Are you getting paranoid about Libra?" Jack asked with a grin on his face, "have you spoken to her about your feelings?"

He should've done that on their date but instead they had talked about becoming friends and now he had to settled with that since she had agreed to it. Then there was the issue of not wanting to scare her away by being too forward. Dillon had done the majority of the things he fantasized about doing to her but Libra was inexperienced and should be approached whenever she was truly ready – even though he wished that would come sooner than later. Admitting all of this to her would more than likely scare her away if he understood anything about her.

"We agreed to be friends first; I think she'll be more comfortable that way. I wouldn't want to lose her now that I've finally won her trust." He murmured.

Jack chuckled and put a hand on his shoulder for comfort, "I think you've been reading the situation all wrong, dude. Libra may be a rookie in many things but that doesn't mean you can't talk to her about it. You don't think she and I have these conversations about you, too? Stop talking to me and talk to her – the both of you!" He threw his arms up and said he was heading for his room to study.

Dillon became standing and eventually headed for his own room. Instead of studying he spent the majority of the evening browsing the internet and wasting time while thinking about what Jack had said. Libra and Jack talk about him which must mean she feels something. He exited Chrome and brought up his text conversation with Libra Jones. He read through their latest conversation where they had decided on what movie to watch for tonight, then he decided to contact her – blaming it on his fear of not being able to sleep if he didn't.

How's your studying going?

He sent it and continued his browsing to distract himself until she replied. Libra could either be very quick or not answer for an hour – he feared the latter today.

But soon a vibrating sensation reached his hand and the little icon informing him of Libra's text showed up. He took a deep breath and pressed on it.

I got most of it done at the library

So you just decided to bail on movie night and use studying as an excuse? I thought better of you.

I'm sorry if that's what Sophia told you, I just wasn't feeling well

What's wrong? Has anything happened or are you getting sick?

No sickness luckily, just a headache after a long day. Hope movie night was good.

Her replies seemed so cold and distant that Dillon's worry had now returned and had been turned up to the max again. The fact that she was lying about her excuse and that Sophia and Jack was covering for her told him this stretched beyond the scenarios he had concerned himself with – this was purely about him. He put his phone down for a moment and wondered when he had become this concerned about Libra Jones' feelings and how he fit in to her life, but somewhere along the ways of trying to get rid of his guilt he had started truly caring about her – and he couldn't just turn that off. It was time to be honest with her about a few things.

Movie night was shit without you and you know that. I wanted to hang out with you, alone.

You don't know what you're saying

What the fuck is that supposed to mean? Of course I do: I want to be with you alone.

Sophia and Jack are our friends

You know damn well I care more about you than anyone else

But yes they are our friends. But why can't we spend some time alone together?

Because we both know that's a bad idea

Only because you want what I want...

I don't know what you're talking about! Can we just drop this now? I'll come to the next movie night.

You know exactly what I'm talking about. Be outside of your door in two minutes and I'll show you. I'm already on my way up.

He dropped his phone on his bed and left his room without a sound. He wasn't going to wait around for Libra to accept her feelings; instead he was going to show her how good it would feel to embrace them. He smiled at Jack's words of having them talk to each other but it was the best thing to do. If he didn't tell her now he'd doubt that he'd ever say anything. Time would go by and eventually they'd be too busy with new friends to talk to each other and once Jack moved out there would be no reason for her to come by anymore. Not to mention what she'd do if she ever found out what he had done, then he would never see her again and that would be a certainty.

When he stepped out of the elevator he already knew she would be waiting outside her door and he was right. Libra was standing with her arms around her, wearing a long sleeved dress and black VANS to go with it. Her legs looked leaner than they usually did and he wondered if he was objectifying her too much lately and reminded himself that he wasn't in his room right now. Her hair was resting on her back and her eyes beamed with secrecy.

"What is it that you wanted to show me?" She fired off before he'd even said hello.

She was in a fiery mood and Dillon wasn't her to play any games, all he wanted was to show her how good it will feel to be honest, but he couldn't just do that right away. He knew that Libra needed to be humored with a speech first and he had just the right one – not planned or fake, he was going to speak whatever emotion carried him.

"The last person I wanted to see here, when I first arrived to campus, was you. I didn't even know it then but as soon as I saw you I knew I didn't want you there. But you were so different; the way you talked, moved and dressed and for some reason it drew me to you. I wanted a chance to win your respect and prove to you that the Dillon Holden you thought you knew wasn't the right me. Since the day I decided that I have done my best to try and lately I felt like we were getting to a good place, we'd even passed decent, but despite that I want more."

He waited a while to take in her reaction. He could hear her quick and nervous sounding breaths but she didn't look fearful of his words. She had spoken of confusion earlier and how it relayed to her feelings but she wasn't alone in her confusion. Dillon was equally as conflicted over this sudden change of emotions regarding her but he had decided not to fear them any longer – he wanted to explore them.

"I am just as confused as you are," he minimized the distance between them, "this was the last thing I thought would be happening but now that it has I'm not sorry. I want you." He held her in place by holding his hands on her hips.

Libra didn't move, didn't speak and didn't look at him. Instead she kept on breathing and curled her balled up fists inside her long sleeved dress as if she needed something to hold on to. If she turned him down now he promised to accept it and never try this again, he'd accept a friendship for as long as it lasted, but he had a feeling she wouldn't deny him. Instead he had a strong feeling that she wanted him to make a move because she wouldn't.

"I-I think this is a bad idea." She mumbled so low he barely heard it but he ignored her words.

"I don't think it is and even if it was I don't care."

"What if I do?" She challenged him.

Dillon moved his hands to her cup her face gently and for the first time tonight she looked at him. Her eyes glittered with nervousness and excitement and it made Dillon warm inside. It was now or never and he would hate for it to be never.

"Then push me away right now." He mumbled and then he leaned down and met her lips.

At first she barely moved and became sternly frozen in that pose for a few seconds but as Dillon moved his hands from her face down to her waist she relaxed and eventually parted her lips for his tongue to enter. He was pleasantly surprised how good of a kisser she was and damned himself for not finding that out sooner. They walked backwards until they her back hit the door and their breaths melted together for a second. All of him screamed to take it further and it took everything in him not to further his advances, but he wasn't going to ruin this moment by going too fast.

Her legs spread slightly and allowed his body in between, to which he moaned, and his grip around her waist hardened immediately. Behind her door Sophia was probably waiting for her return and her not knowing what was going on fueled his desire in the moment. Libra tasted like the sweetest cupcake and her body felt like silk wrapped around him when her hands finally grabbed a hold of him to pull him even closer. She had indeed wanted this as much as he had and it made him smile against her lips when he realized this.

"Get a room you two!" They heard two girls call out from somewhere in the distance which caused them to break apart.

Now a smile had reached her lips, one that she couldn't quite control. Dillon pulled her into his embrace and kissed the top of her forehead.

"Thank God," he whispered and closed his eyes to enjoy her warm presence.
