Jumping out from the hole I land perfectly on the snowy ground. Hearing the light crunch of the snow beneath my feet, I assume I'm at the base of Yokohama mountain as I'm pretty sure Archie said that the rest of the mountain was protected by their families spell.
Blegh, I hate feeling sick after going through these stupid holes!
After 2 minutes of resting, I finally could get up and move. Now then, let's find this barrier.
Starting off by following this convenient path that so happens to be here. I happily make my way up the path, occasionally skipping and watching the beautiful flower petals fall completely forgetting what I came here for until...
Bang!
I smashed into something and harshly landing on my butt.
I look up to see that I had just passed the red gate but there was nothing in front of me. "Ah, I must have hit the barrier. Great, now I just gotta get the crystal out and pour some of the magic into the seal...wherever it is." I gently muttered to myself while holding my chin and analysing where the best possible places for the seal could be.
Looking around, I notice a not so noticeable tree. Well, technically there was two of them, they were both exactly the same...
They felt the same.
Had the same trunk pattern.
Gave the same noise as I knocked at it.
They had the same leaves, and even the placement of each leaf was the same as the other.
And even the roots at the bottom of the two trunks were in the same placement.
"How strange." I muttered again, my eyes narrowing as I continued to observe the two trees. Walking around it, climbing up into it and lastly squatting down in front of it to get a better look at the ingrained message at the back of the trunk on the left side tree.
It had squiggly writing that I assumed is an ancient language that the Yokohama village spoke. Which makes sense to why it's here ingrained in a tree. But for some reason I felt this pull to it, and just as my thoughts were about to get lost. My pocket started to feel warm, that was where I had placed the crystal...
Is this the seal?
Taking it out I slowly hold it up against the writing and make contact with the trunk.
As I was about to say 'release', I felt as something was wrong. This isn't right, I remember hearing Archie say to me that Uncle had put trespassing spells in the mountain before too.
This was to easy.
Way to easy...
Getting up, I looked eyes with a random statue that had suddenly appeared.
"Great...I bet that if I continued with this tree I would've had to fight the statue."
Biting my tip of my thumb in impatience, What am I going to do now?
*sigh* What to do? What to do?
Hmmmm...
I GOT IT!!
Running over to where the barrier was I placed my right hand gently on the invisible wall and take a deep breath in.
'We got this...we got this...we-'
'COME ON ROSIE!!! WE GOTTA HURRY THIS UP! YOU ALREADY KNOW YOU GOT THIS SO GO DO IT!!!' Scarlett's voice rang through my head like an alarm bell.
"ow..." I whispered grumpily while rubbing my head, though I couldn't help the smile that was appearing as the feeling of reassurance and trust from Scarlett overflowed my heart...
"thanks Scar."
'You know it, I'll always be there for you. After all we are one of the same people even if our souls weren't binded. I still got your back...NOW GO SAVE OUR LITTLE ARCHIES FATHER!!!'
"You got that Scar, let's show these so called mercenaries who is the better thief!" I said smirking with confidence while taking a step back and holding up the crystal to the barrier.
"Release!"
After which multiple blinding white and golden light threads came exploding out of the crystal and shooting towards the barrier in unison. The power from the contact was enough to whip up dirt and smoke from all the laying rubble, I kept holding the crystal waiting for the barrier to finally reach it's peak before finally finishing my plan off.
As the barrier slowly started becoming more visible to the naked eye, I let my hand fall to my side along with the crystal, it was almost empty and if I used the rest the barrier would be fully broken. As I took a step towards the barrier again gently placing my right hand up to touch the glass like surface, I take one deep breath in before moving the remaining energy in the barrier through my hand and body towards the crystal that was lying in my other hand. After a few seconds I opened my eyes feeling refreshed, it was complete.
Now, Uncle wouldn't be in pain and suffer any of the recoil damage that would've happened if I just blindly broke through the barrier.
'Nice!' Scarlett again commented as she takes her ghost form and starts flying towards the sky and out of sight.
I stealthily creep around through the forest area as taking the stairs was rather troublesome as it would spell to them, that I was just seeking for trouble. I sat perched in one of the tall trees awaiting for Scarlett's voice but as I continued my watch, I came upon two of the mercenaries on look out.
I bent down lower while repositioning myself to be at their blind spots, watching them with narrowed eyes. As they got closer, I heard Scarlett's voice, 'Rosie, 5 o'clock to your right. The spring is 200 feet away from where you are. There's 4 men total, one of which is Archie's dad, you can probably guess who the other 3 are.'
'yep, I can. Alright, thanks Scarlett.
'The rest of the men are scattered all around the place, there's one 30 feet away to your left at an angle of 45 degrees and there's 2 more further out spaced around 50 feet from each other. I'm also aware that you found the last two, am I right?'
'you know it, am going to finish them off first, okay?'
' Alright, I've already scoped the area and found a perfect location for you to teleport to so get here quickly.'
'Don't worry, I'll be there in a sec.' I finished while jumping out and twisting my body midair to face the two mercenaries before quickly throwing two daggers from both me side leg pockets. Before flipping and kicking the colliding tree to leap through the space warp that I conjured up.
Slipping through I immediately dodged an incoming fire ball, I look at the direction the attack came from and noticed that the "one" was actually three men, two of which were hiding.
'Great, not only do I have to deal with my incoming nausea but I have to deal with these three annoying pricks.' I thought eyerolling, couldn't ask for something better to waste my time...
And just as I thought that the 3 men suddenly became 6.
"Oh, god one of these men is an illusionist." I sighed while complaining and defending against the 4 men attacking me with their swords and the other 2 who were firing flame balls at me every 5 seconds.
'Give me a break!' I'm done wasting my bloody time with these silly tricks. Speaking of which...
I guess things are really going to turn bloody, I thought as I sidestepped through all the guys attacks. Remember dodge every attack with beauty, ease and grace just like how Scarlett taught me too, we do have to make sure to infuriate the enemy as it's more fun that way.
'Wow! You remembered my lessons! Mama is so proud of you!!! They really do grow up so fast...*weep* *sniffle*'
'SCARLETT!!! Quit invading my mind!!!'
And before I could get off another yell at her, my mind was brought back to the troublesome three men who were currently my opponent.
I suddenly felt a mental attack.
No, they really did not try to do that. How dare they try something like this WHEN I'M ALREADY FEELING LIKE I WANT TO THROW UP!!!
Tch, how pathetic to do you think I am to try such a low level spatial attack on moa! (me).
Breaking from my thoughts I turn to look at the 2nd guy at the back. While cocking my head and raising one of my eyebrows, I look at him with disgust and spat out "Trash."
Before sending one of my own attacks towards him, it wasn't even that strong yet he struggled to fight it off, I watched his eye's widen in fright and shake.
His teammates looked confused and their sudden slip up made a great opening for me. Taking my back up dagger, I quickly weave my way to the first guy who had been mixed in with the other 3 guys and cleanly cut this neck. Without missing a single beat I ran up the illusionist and landed a swift kick to his gut sending him flying into one of the forest trees, following up with my thrown dagger piercing his heart. All done within a single moment, I relaxingly walked up to the last one and lifted his head up to face me, "you know, you really shouldn't have angered me by using one of my own tricks to get me to submit."
Seeing him cower in fear, I wasn't in the mood anymore to talk and quickly used my space magic to crush him into dust. Sad, I know I didn't really have any more of my daggers left and currently Scarlett isn't with me...so, I guess I'll be relying on my magic abilities for the last guy.
Soon after I had dealt with the last guarding mercenary, now all was left is to save Uncle and kill the 3 last mercenaries, sounds pretty easy enough.
Making my way to Scarlett, I open another one of my space holes and go through to release I was steadily falling from the sky, 'SCARLETT!!!'
'Yes? What's up Rosie?'
'Why am I in the sky? And falling at that fact!'
'well it's not my fault. After all you're the one who opened up that hole not me.'
Grumbling at the fact that I couldn't say anything back, closing my eyes, I called for the wind to circulate underneath me. Gently catching me and holding me up in the air as I got up to stand and repositioning the wind currents around the soles of my feet.
I fly around a bit getting a better view of where the two mercenaries were along with Uncle who was unconscious. I look for the leader as it was strange that he wasn't with them but that's when a loud cry rang through the air, my eyes immediately lock towards the centre of the Spring, the leader was currently fighting the Spring's guardian beast. Surprisingly, it was a large super sized mossy-stone tortoise, I crept closer to the two unsuspecting mercenaries as I use my air magic to over pressurize their lungs, causing them to burst and rain blood.
"Oops, I think I over did it...oh well as long as uncle is safe, it should be fine."
As I gently used my air magic to lift and carry uncle through my space portal which brought him safely at my place, I closed it knowing that both Rowan and Braylon would take good care of him. Now, my job was to stop this guy and make sure he doesn't do anything stupid enough to anger the guardian which could possibly wipe out Yokohama village in it's fit of anger.
How annoying...
A/N: I'm sorry with the late and random postage of chapters but I'm honestly reconsidering if I should really finish the story as were drawing nearer towards the end but my brain is trying to rack up ideas for story progression before hitting the end. I'm also thinking about dropping this book as for this year and next year, I'll be getting more busy with my studies. Though during the year I may continue to upload randomly and soon hopefully finish. It will take some time and I'm sorry for not following my previous intentions to fully committing to it.
I'm incredibly thankful to everyone and how much this story of mine garnered such attention and support from everyone. I really do hope everyone enjoys and has a great new year and I wish everyone the best of luck in health and in happiness!!!
