What to do...
What to do...
It's been a week since we've been helping the village defend against the demonic beasts. As expected they weren't much of a threat as they started out quite low levelled but as the days progressed larger groups of demonic beasts started attacking.
Groups which were lower level demonic beasts started changing to ones of mid level, it was beginning to become a problem as the groups grew larger.
The Blue Moon mercenary group joined in "defending" and it was...ah...
Very stressful?
Once they started joining us everyday we started to build a contest to see who could take the most out and to be completely honest, it was rather entertaining.
Most of the time it was Braylon and Rowan doing the most clearing as I was busy fiddling with my pencil as I drew up ideas in my notebook. I've grown a habit of drawing my plans and ideas on paper before bringing it to life, you could say that it was just like a blueprint you would see back in the modern world. Inside it held all my detailed drawings for the barrier and the device that would be used to stimulate it and beside each drawing was a short description either about it's purpose or further explanation of it's design.
Sadly, I guess my efforts were deemed as useless as it seemed that in the eyes of many I was just being useless while my team mates were doing all the work.
I didn't mind the constant snickering and insults from the villagers and the Blue Moon group, as Rowan, Braylon, Archie and the village head knew about my plans and were pretty positive about it.
It was rather funny to see how surprised the village chief was when I had explained my idea along side the plans for it.
It also seems like Archie has grown rather fond of me lately, he's been following me around wherever I go with his usual bright smile.
I decided to let him help me with the project as he seemed to be really interested when I first discussed about it with his father, I never knew someone's eyes could shine at the mention of a word until then. It was again really adorable, Archie was such a naïve, smart and cheerful boy and it was hard not to like him.
I don't really know the exact reason why Archie has left such an impression on me, maybe it was due to the fact he reminded me of someone back at the Organization.
I had treated the boy back then as my little brother as we both were from the same orphanage, it like we only had each other. It was just us against the world yet sadly he died when they took him to the lab...
Looking at Archie's smiling face I couldn't help but to suppress the sadness I felt in my heart as I didn't want him to see. I want him to continue smiling just like Little Ollie did before he passed...
Maybe my silence went for to long as I heard Archie tug my sleeve and ask if I was okay. It's been awhile since I remembered Oliver, but it didn't feel bad.
Maybe the memories I had locked away from fear that I would break down could finally be accepted.
"I'm alright, Archie. Are you bored?" I asked softly, as I went to pat the top of his head gently.
"No! I'm not bored! I have Older sister here with me so nothing's boring." He exclaimed with his signature grin.
This boy...he's been calling me older sister for awhile now, he seems to really care for me and now I'm feeling the same way. I want to protect him, in hopes to repay Oliver who I failed to protect.
Playfully exaggerating my actions as I put on an upset face with my hand grasping the right side of my cheek as I let small cry, "Ah! What should I do now when I have such a charming little brother? I feel as if I'm being to spoiled by you, when I'm meant to be the one doing the spoiling. *sigh* what to do, what to do?"
Archie starts laughing as he sees my act, I smile at his happy expression before joining in. I've been really happy and playful lately whenever Archie was around, it was as if I was exactly his actual older sister.
I guess our extremely joyous relationship was pretty evident as almost everyone commented saying how sweet it was and that we looked as if we were a real sister and brother pair. I would even catch the village chief's gentle smile whenever I was talking and playing with Archie, I guess Archie and Uncle was rather lonely all this time.
Uncle had told me about Archie's mother and little sister who sadly had passed 2 years ago, the experience effected Archie so much that he wouldn't leave his room for weeks and refused to talk or see anyone. He had only recently gotten better, but he was still reluctant to talk to other's but strangely the day I appeared it seemed that Archie didn't show any hesitance or reluctance. It looked to be as if the old him, before the accident was back, no-more was the distant, lonely boy that he had become for the 4years instead he was laughing and smiling with pure happiness.
That's when Uncle had asked if I could be his, Archie's Older sister. I was shocked at first but then agreed, Archie felt special to me. I'm not to sure how to explain it but the first time my golden eyes laid upon his bright blue eyes I knew deep down that he was special, well to me at least. And I was more than happy to accept him as my little brother, like who wouldn't?
Today, I was accompanying Rowan and Braylon on their patrol around the village, I wasn't scared about Archie's safety as he was with me and the two boys. So, we let him tag along though he had to stay by the side of either one of us at all times, so that we could protect him from any danger.
While we walked around talking about the village and the demonic beasts, as we continued walking we could the faint voices of many men.
"Hey, you know that little girl who's accompanied by those two guys?"
"yeah, what about her?"
"She's pretty pathetic, not only does she ignore us but she also uses those two guys to do all the dirty work."
"She's a sticking noble. What else do you expect from a girl?"
"all she has is her pretty face, I wonder if she would taste nice, ehehe."
"What are you saying? That girl probably has sold her body already there's no way she'll taste nice."
Their foul talk ended up in our ears, my first thought was to kill them for speaking this way when Archie was here. I bent down to Archie's level of sight and said gently, "Archie, don't listen to that talk alright. It's completely disgusting, okay?"
My actions were caught by both Braylon and Rowan as they both noticed how unbothered I was at the group of men's "discussion". After confirming a nod from Archie I saw his grim face and asked, "Are you okay? Are you uncomfortable hearing them?"
"No. I'm angry that they insulted Older sister. They deserve to be eaten by the demons!"
Shaking my head disapprovingly, I started scolding him, "Now, now Archie. That's not very nice to say at your age."
I couldn't have him saying these things at his age, maybe when he's older but not now. He's my precious little brother who must grow to be a fine man not a devious one. Expecting for all this to be forgotten I let a helpless smile show on my face as I looked at his sullen expression.
But suddenly Braylon's voice came from behind me saying proudly, "That's right, let us big brother's deal with this matter. Okay?"
What was I hearing? What are those two planning to do I thought giving them a confused and questioning look. I was even mouthing 'What are you thinking?' but they just ignored me and turned their backs.
"Okay!" Only then after Archie's yelled, was I broken from my trance.
"W-what?" I managed to mutter looking frantically at the direction the two headed. "What were those two thinking, it's just words..."
Seeing my frantic yet crushed appearance Archie started pointing at Rowan before saying, "Older sister, you shouldn't be sad. That older brother there, looked very mad before when you ignored those men and asked me if I was okay first. Older sister should care about herself more." Archie said pouting, as he stood with his pointer finger stuck up and his other hand placed at his hip.
A soft smile grazed my lips as I asked, "Are you lecturing me, Archie?"
"Yep! Who else would if not me!" He cried with energy that left me dying of cuteness.
Hearing his happy response I was left bursting with laughter completely distracted from my complex thoughts, Archie was seriously to cute and loveable for this world.
Our harmonious time was then broken by multiple screams of terror and plea's of mercy.
"ARGH!!!"
"STOP! PLEASE!
"MERCY! MERCY!"
"what did you say rat?" I knew that uncaring voice if I ever heard one, it was Braylon...*sigh* I'm guessing he's rather enjoying this isn't he as I watched him pick his ear and acting deaf while angering the pleading men till some even spat blood.
I looked over at Rowan who was lazily sitting atop multiple bodies of what looked like Blue Moon members looking like a demon king... and just mentally facepalmed at the two knuckleheads.
It was then a large explosion went off and the whole area filled with smoke and dust, clouding my vision as I protected Archie from the force of the explosion.
What were those morons thinking, blowing up the place!
ARE THEY BLOODY CRAZY!?!?!
After the smoke and dust started calming down I looked over quickly trying to decipher where they were.
"Rowan? Braylon?" I lightly called, moving my head in panic.
Oh, dear. Where were they?
But as the cloud of dust and smoke finally settled it showed a clear scene of two figures amongst a group of something.
When my gaze finally fixed itself, I was left stunned. Were the two stood was multiple bruised and beaten members of Blue Moon. I wouldn't be surprised about that but what made me stunned to the point of wanting to facepalm myself was that the two walked over the lying bodies without care. And if that wasn't enough Braylon was even stepping on of them while pressing their face into the ground without mercy with a sinister smile spread across his face.
"COOL!!!" Archie exclaimed cheering while I was left disheartened at his cry of happiness, my poor baby what did they do to you.
I then snapped a glare at the two who were calmly walking towards us. How dare they teach him such things at this young and innocent age. Catching the message in my glare, Braylon sheepishly smiled before putting his arms up saying, "It wasn't my idea."
I looked skeptically at him with judgement and fake disgust in my face as I asked, "If it wasn't yours then whose?"
"His." He said simply with a shrug while pointing at Rowan.
"Huh? Rowans?" I cried, turning my head to look at him with wide eyes my mouth slightly opened in shock. What this prideful prick? How could he have such thoughts, he's not even a brute nor knucklehead like Braylon so...HOW!??!
He seemed to notice my complicated expression and look away not saying anything.
"Big Brother's are so coool!!!"
"them cool?"
"yes."
"tsk, I'll show you cool."
I said running between and past the two while a light smile spread across my face leaving behind a small whisper, "Look after Archie will you."
Before jumping up to attack a high level demon serpent which had been attracted by the explosion. With a dagger in hand I sliced my palm open so that blood flowed out, clutching my hand I then chanted, "May the blood that flows in my veins hear my call and assist me in battle." After which I opened my fisted hand allowing the blood to spill, hitting the ground the whole ground under me and the serpent had changed into a pool of blood, more specifically, my blood.
(A/N: yes, I know it's a lot of blood, but that's why magic exists, her blood is replenished while her blood magic activates, so she doesn't loose any blood what so ever).
The serpent took no time to attack and immediately launched itself at me, standing still I casted my arm up towards the head of the serpent. And as if the blood was answering my call, multiple sharp needles formed from the scarlet blood aiming for the serpent's head and body.
As it dodged each attack, it opened it's mouth larger as it drew closer and closer, I stood still waiting before lifting my hand up vertically causing a large thick wall of blood to rise rapidly from the ground hitting the serpent from it's underbelly and flinging it high up in the air.
I didn't wait for my next attack, I just lifted my hand again and multiple spikes formed all across the bloodied ground beside the spot I stood at. I watched calmly as the serpent fell to it's awaited death, I was like the angel of judgement at that moment. Waiting for the serpent to fall and be pieced by the spikes before letting it be devoured by the pool of blood to the point were not even it's bones would be left.
I turned my back as I witnessed it's last struggle and went back to where the three boy's stood. Braylon looked terrified, while Rowan just avoided my gaze while covering his mouth. I was left confused at the two's reaction and was about to ask what it was about but a sudden cry from Archie distracted me from asking.
"Older sister, that was so cool!!! You're the most strongest person I've seen and even better then the two older brothers."
I crouched down smiling at his childish yell, "that's right your sister is cooler and better than those two older brother's of yours."
Seeing my smug face, Braylon just sighed while looking wronged and upset.
"You tell us off for teaching him bad things yet you do something even worse just because you were jealous. Seriously, isn't this too unfair." Braylon muttered while sulking, which caused us all to laugh.
