Rodney felt as if his face was slapped hard. He lost.
He knew that he had failed miserably, and he could sense Ryanâs sarcasm.
That feeling was too f*cking awful. He would rather lose to Jessica than Ryan.
Maybe it was because Ryan was his brother, or maybe⦠It was because Ryan kept helping Freya.
There was also an ambiguous relationship going on between them.
âRyan, you utilized your position to cover the truth. Look whoâs talking. â Rodneyâs pretty eyes had a furious, icy gleam. âProtecting criminals and oppressing your brother. Is this your principle?â
âYes. Iâm not as selfless as you are. You even have it in you to send your wife to prison, â Ryan mocked.
âSheâs no longer my wife. Since the day she became a kidnapper, she had no right to be my wife,â
Rodney shouted angrily, âYouâd better be careful at all times. Donât let what youâve done today become a tool thatâs used to make you fall from the top in the future. There arenât any permanent loopholes in this world.â
âYouâre wrong. Youâre the only one talking about the kidnapping. Do you have witnesses?â
Ryan shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly. âIf youâre talking about those people from Snowden who rushed inside with you that day, are you sure theyâre still willing to be your witnesses? Or did Sarah see with her own eyes that the person who tortured her was Freya?â
Upon listening to those words, Rodney clenched his fists.
His handsome face gradually lost its usual radiance in the dark parking lot. He looked dispirited as well.
âRodney, people are always aiming to go higher. When youâre the person who holds the major right of inheritance in the Snow family, everyone will be flattering you. When you lose that right, everyone will avoid you. You mustâve experienced that feeling before.â
Ryan gave him a rare gentle gaze. âNevertheless, this is a good ending for you. Havenât you been feeling guilty toward Sarah all along? You think that she sacrificed her happiness to let you return to the Snow family back then. It looks like everything is back to square one. You two can finally be with each other. Sheâs still alive. You can treat her well for the rest of your life.â
However, perhaps Sarah would not treat Rodney as well as before if he lost the right to inherit Snow Corporation.
Ryan did not say those words out loud. Some truths were better discovered by Rodney himself.
The moment Rodney saw Sarahâs true colors clearly would be the moment when it was too late for him to regret.
Nevertheless, by that time, Ryan would not let Rodney have the chance to woo Freya back.
âHappiness?â Rodney looked as if he had heard a joke. âHer limbs are disabled and her face is disfigured. How can she be happy? Ryan, I never thought you would be so cruel. No matter how much you hate Sarah, sheâs still human. Donât you have any compassion?â
âIsnât having you by her side her greatest happiness? After all, she loves you so much, â Ryan said sincerely while hiding the mocking in his eyes. âOtherwise, if you were to inherit Snow Corporation and Sarah marries you, sheâd think that she doesnât deserve you because sheâs a disabled and disfigured woman, right?â
âShut your mouth.â
Rodney could not bear to continue listening anymore. He was like a firecracker that was ignited. âStop pretending, Ryan. Youâve schemed and done so much. Isnât it because youâre coveting Freya? Ha, youâll never have her. The prime ministerâs son wanting to marry his sister-in- law and godsister will be a joke to the whole of Australia. No one will accept that.â
