Chapter 16: tracing tracks

bloodredroses | poetryWords: 1360

every substance loses power,

sustenance of our twenties.

train tracks guiding to a place

hidden in a forest.

flowers braided into our hair,

sneakers full of dirt.

trance state of mind

on a saturday night.

lines I won't explain,

the words these verses contain.

if you had been there,

you would have felt so arrived, just like me

that you couldn't really have left again.

maybe I'm too late in time

and you've been here before.

we're dancing on the earth you form

and look up into the night sky,

your stars are shining.

maybe you're too late in time

and I've been here before,

I'm the flames at the fireplace that you still need to find.

but maybe we breathe the same air

and you're on the way.

or maybe... you're already here with me.

don't take me too serious,

the words and verses I contain,

I shape into sentences

that I draw in lines I won't explain.

I don't intend to be mysterious,

if you trace my tracks and look closer

you already know.

28.05.2023 - I wrote this one literally in the middle of the night. It's funny: I guess for the most part I didn't even know what I was feeling/thinking, up until I wrote this. Suddenly things just made sense to me.

But it's really often like that, right? That writing makes things so much clearer...

Anyway, I'd love to hear your thoughts on this poem and thank you so so much again for reading!
