Chapter 17 Not Surrendering The four men in black were only briefly stupefied before they returned to the fray with even more savagery.
Finnegan quickly avoided their attacks before stretching out his left foot to tap on one of the menâs calves. A crack echoed in the air, and that man collapsed onto the ground, grabbing his calf and crying out in agony.
Oscarâs gaze darkened.
He could fight in the same way Finnegan did, for he was trained under a master fighter.
However, he could not wrap his mind around how Finnegan, someone who was forced out of Jadeborough by Killian back then, could become a master in fighting as well.
While he was thinking about that, Finnegan had swept his leg in an arc and flipped the other three men onto the ground. In no time, Oscar was the only one left standing.
Oscar narrowed his eyes. âYouâre talented, but unfortunately, youâve met me.â
âCome on. Give it a try.â
Finnegan lifted his arm and beckoned Oscar to come.
The action, similar to the beckoning of a dog, infuriated Oscar. With an angry cry, he dashed toward Finnegan before lifting his leg up to swing it downward.
Not only did he want Finnegan to find out what pain was, but he also wanted Finnegan to kneel before him and beg for his forgiveness.
Yet, Finnegan suddenly raised his leg faster than Oscar did-higher, too-before slamming it down on Oscarâs shoulder. The sickening crack of the clavicle reverberated in the space, and Oscar fell to the ground in the position of a split. Cold sweat instantly beaded on his forehead as pain, fear, and shock crashed into him like a tidal wave.
Why canât I even withstand a blow from him?
âWho in the world are you?â
Instead of answering him, Finnegan spun on his feet to land a spinning kick on Oscarâs chest. Oscar flew backward. When he crashed to the ground, he spat out a mouthful of blood as two of his ribs broke.
However, Oscar still managed to not make any sound of pain.
He just stared at Finnegan and questioned, âWhat kind of power do you have?â
Finnegan walked over to him before looking downward at him. âYou said you wanted to break my legs earlier, didnât you?â
Before Oscar could say anything in response, Finnegan lifted his leg and cruelly crushed. Oscarâs right hand under his foot. Pain surged up his arm, and Oscar could not hold back hist scream of pain this time.
Finnegan did not stop there. He proceeded to crush Oscarâs other hand and legs, rendering. him completely immobile.
The rest of the men in black shuddered when they saw the ghastly state Oscar was in.
Oscar managed to force his pain away for a second as he roared, âFinnegan Larkin!â
All Finnegan did was amble past Oscar and say, âTell Tristan when you go back that the Chomsky family has thirteen more days left. Theyâre welcome to continue targeting me.â
Oscarâs subordinates only dared to approach Oscar after Finnegan was out of the alley. âOscar, what do we do?â
Nothing but hatred was in Oscarâs eyes. âTake me to the hospital first.â
When peace returned to the alley, Alisha drove to the entrance of the alley. She had not gone. back to the hotel right away after sending Finnegan there.
Staring at the gloomy alley, she called her grandfather again. âGrandpa, Tristan just sent Oscar to mess with Mr. Larkin, but Mr. Larkin crippled him. So, who in the world is Mr. Larkin? Why is Oscar, an Amber Realm fighter of Preliminary Rank, no match for him? Moreover, why are you trying to butter him up?â
After a moment of silence, an elderly manâs voice traveled out of the speaker. âHeed his words and do your best to sleep with him. Youâll find the answer when itâs time for you to know it, so donât ask that many questions now.â
With that, the call ended. Alisha huffed, âStupid Grandpa. Still, it looks like I have to be serious about sleeping with him.â
âWhatâs going on?â
Tristan was astounded when he saw how severely wounded Oscar was.
Oscar gritted his teeth and replied, âMr. Chomsky, weâve underestimated Finnegan. Iâm no match for him. Iâm quite certain heâs an Amber Realm fighter of Postliminary Rank.â
âAn Amber Realm fighter of Postliminary Rank?â

Modern martial arts were divided into four realms-Ether Realm, Terra Realm, Enigma Realm, and Amber Realm. Furthermore, each realm had four ranks-Preliminary Rank, Intermediate Rank, Postliminary Rank, and Absolute Rank.
Oscar, an Amber Realm fighter of Preliminary Rank, was already capable of fighting a hundred people by himself. Thus, the thought of how Finnegan might be an Amber Realm. fighter of Postliminary Rank was instilling shock into Tristanâs heart.
There were not many Amber Realm fighters of Postliminary Rank in Jadeborough.
How was he going to defeat Finnegan?
Oscar then said, âBut donât worry, Iâve sent my men to contact my senior. Heâs an Amber Realm fighter of Absolute Rank, and heâs going to be coming to Jadeborough to avenge me in a few daysâ time. Iâm sure heâll be able to defeat Finnegan.â
Hearing that, Tristan became at ease. âIâll leave this to you and your senior, then. Iâll definitely. reward you handsomely after the dust has settled.â
After that, Tristan hastily made arrangements for Oscarâs surgery.
He then said to his trusted subordinates, âI never thought Finnegan would be this powerful. Weâre ceasing all operations until Oscarâs senior is here. Also, carry out the relocation and demolition at Wharf Street according to the rules and regulations. The compensation will start from twenty-three thousand for every square meter. Weâll use this to make Finnegan let down his guard a little.â
âGot it.â
The next morning, Finnegan woke as usual for breakfast outside.
Just as he sat down, Alisha came over and took the milk that Finnegan had yet to drink. After a few days of interaction, she had already grasped most of Finneganâs character, so she was no longer as cautious as she was previously.
Finnegan glanced at her and muttered under his breath about how she really helped herself to anything she wanted. Then, he asked, âAny news?â
âAfter seeing Oscarâs state last night, Tristan has ordered his men to halt their plans. He event got Tristan Properties to expropriate this region with twenty-three thousand per square meter.â
Finnegan inhaled sharply. âHeâs surrendering already?â
âOf course not.â Alisha put down the cup of milk. âItâs just that the ruckus you made about the demolition has caught the attention of some government officials. Moreover, Jadeboroughâs underworld isnât helping him out, so Tristan canât continue his plan with his initial low price. As for why he has ceased his men from attacking you⦠Iâm guessing that he must be waiting for Oscarâs peers.â
âOscarâs peers?â
Alisha nodded as a somber look crept into her eyes. âOscar was a disciple of a member of the Ten Illustrious, Golden Hades. Although Golden Hades might not necessarily stand up for his disciples, his other disciples are apparently Enigma Realm fighters. The Goldberg Five are the ones you must be wary of the most.â
At that, she sneaked a glance at Finnegan, only to find that he was not at all fazed nor surprised by her words. âAre you not scared?â
âIf I was, I wouldnât have sought revenge from the Chomsky family.â
Alishaâs curiosity about Finnegan grew when she heard the confidence in his words.
She almost had to physically hold herself back from asking him more about that. She then asked, âMrs.
Miles called me earlier, asking if you can treat Mr. Miles.â
âSure.â
Alisha was taken aback, having not expected Finnegan to answer that quickly. âYouâ¦..â
Finnegan chuckled. âMr. Miles is also known as the top philanthropist of Jadeborough. I wonât be so unreasonable to let a philanthropist die just because of the insensible Sasha. Come and pick me up when itâs close to evening time.â
Hearing that, Alisha nodded slowly. After telling Finnegan some other stuff, she left.
Once Finnegan was done with breakfast, he bought some food for his parents and his sister.
However, just as he reached the entrance of his house, he heard Rhiannon shouting, âYou your family are shameless! Get out!â
