Chapter 51: 43. dinner

MOHABBAT-E-DIWAANGI ( Book 1)Words: 10634

As the celebrations came to an end and the excitement of exchanging gifts faded, the house settled into a peaceful yet joyous atmosphere. The clock struck 8 PM when Revti, with a warm smile, asked the newlyweds to perform some rituals. They stepped into the home temple, where the soft glow of diyas lit up the idols decorated with fresh flowers. The air was filled with the soothing sound of mantras, making the moment feel sacred and welcoming for the new bride.

After the rituals, it was time for dinner. The dining hall was filled with the delicious aroma of freshly prepared food. A grand feast awaited them—more than fifty-six dishes, each made with love and care to welcome the bride. The long dining table was beautifully set, shining under the golden light of the chandelier. There were rich curries, fragrant rice, soft breads, sweet desserts, and so much more, each dish representing the family's joy and tradition.

As everyone entered the hall, their eyes sparkled with excitement. The elders took their seats first, smiling with pride, while the younger ones eagerly looked at the feast before them. Tonight was more than just a meal—it was a warm embrace for the bride, a way of telling her that she was now part of this family, surrounded by love, traditions, and endless care.

As the night carried on, Aadish and Avantika, still in their grand wedding attire, sat at the dining table, surrounded by family. The intricate embroidery of their outfits shimmered under the soft glow of the chandelier, a reminder that they were still wrapped in the essence of their special day. No one had bothered to change; the joy of the wedding still lingered, making every moment feel magical.

Just as everyone was about to begin dinner, Rudra, the ever-energetic younger brother, stood beside the couple, his eyes twinkling with excitement. With a wide grin, he leaned down, pressing a quick kiss to Aadish’s cheek before exclaiming, "Bhai sa, aaj hum bahut khush hain! Aapne itni pyaari si Bhabhi maa hume laa kar di… love you!" (Brother, today I am very happy! You have brought us such a lovely sister-in-law… love you!)

The room instantly filled with warm laughter and affectionate awws from the family, cherishing the bond between the brothers. But Aadish, ever the composed one, frowned slightly, shooting an irritated look at his mischievous little brother. His sharp gaze did little to affect Rudra, who simply grinned wider, clearly enjoying his moment of playfulness.

Avantika, on the other hand, felt the warmth rush to her cheeks. The unexpected affection and attention left her flustered, her face turning a soft shade of pink. She lowered her gaze shyly, feeling a mixture of embarrassment and quiet happiness. The night was not just about feasting and rituals; it was a celebration of love, bonds, and the beginning of a new journey—one filled with laughter, warmth, and endless teasing.

"Rudra, chup chap idhar mere paas aao… aaj toh apni Bhabhi maa aur Bhai sa ko tang mat karo bache… dekho, tumhari Bhabhi maa abhi se itni gulabi ho rahi hai…" (Rudra, come here quietly… don’t tease your sister-in-law and brother today, child… look, your Bhabhi maa is already turning so pink…) she said, amusement clear in her voice.

Laughter echoed around the table as everyone took in Avantika’s blushing face. Aadish’s gaze instinctively shifted to his wife, and the moment their eyes met, time seemed to slow. Avantika, already flustered, felt her breath hitch as she found herself trapped in his intense stare. The world around them faded, the teasing voices of the family becoming nothing more than a distant murmur.

"Aadish…" Ansh called out, but there was no response. The couple remained locked in their silent exchange, lost in a world of their own.

The family chuckled, watching the newlyweds caught in their moment. The teasing, the laughter, the warmth—it all blended into the air around them, making the night even more special.

Revti slowly stepped forward, gently taking the couple’s balayiya (a traditional gesture to ward off the evil eye), a soft smile playing on her lips. Without thinking, she absentmindedly murmured, "Bilkul humari tarah ek doosre se obsessed hain ye bhi, hai na Ansh?" (They’re just as obsessed with each other as we are, right, Ansh?)

The moment the words left her mouth, a loud cough echoed across the room. Ansh, the usually composed father of four grown men, choked on his water, his eyes widening as he looked at his wife in shock. Never had he seen Revti speak so freely in front of their children about their own love.

Realizing what she had just said, Revti's face turned crimson. Embarrassed, she turned to Ansh with teary eyes, her lips quivering in mortification. But before she could say anything, the other three brothers burst into laughter, thoroughly enjoying the rare sight of their mother flustered.

Flustered and desperate to shift attention away from herself, Revti quickly turned to Avantika, shaking her lightly. The sudden touch startled her, breaking the intense eye contact between Aadish and Avantika. It was only then that the newlyweds realized they had been completely lost in each other, oblivious to the world around them.

Aadish cleared his throat, looking away, while Avantika lowered her gaze, her cheeks burning. The room filled with knowing smiles and teasing chuckles, making the moment even more unforgettable.

As the dinner continued, laughter and teasing filled the room, making the night even more special.

"Aaj toh Bhai sa bhi kam na blush kar rahe, Maa sa… aap toh bas Bhabhi maa ki baat kar rahi thi," (Even Bhai sa is blushing today, Maa sa… and you were only talking about Bhabhi maa!) Armaan teased with a playful smirk as he handed them a plate of sweets.

Aadish, maintaining his composure despite the teasing, took a piece of sweet and turned to Avantika, offering her the first bite. The moment felt intimate, unspoken emotions passing between them. As Avantika shyly accepted, her fingers brushing his for a brief second, the family watched with adoration.

Meanwhile, Rudra—who had been holding back for far too long—couldn’t wait another second. Without caring for the sweet moment unfolding before him, he dug into his plate, eating as if he had been starving for years. His exaggerated hunger made everyone burst into laughter, lightening the mood even more.

After some time, as the family enjoyed their final bites, Revti turned to Om with a gentle but firm voice.

"Om, beta, inhe unke kamre tak chhod aao… filhaal toh mujhe sirf apne samajhdar bete par hi bharosa hai," (Om, son, take them to their room… for now, I can only trust my sensible son with this task.)

Om, the ever-responsible elder brother, simply nodded with a knowing smile. Aadish rolled his eyes at his mother’s words, while Avantika lowered her gaze, already feeling shy about the upcoming moment. With the family still chuckling behind them, Om led the couple toward their room, leaving behind an evening filled with love, laughter, and the warmth of family.

"Finally…" Avantika sighed as soon as they stepped into their room. Relief washed over her as she realized she could finally change out of her shaadi ka lehenga (wedding outfit). It wasn’t unbearably heavy, but after an entire day of rituals and multiple outfit changes, exhaustion had settled deep into her bones.

But just as she was about to loosen the dupatta, her eyes widened—almost popping out of their sockets. The room before her was… breathtaking. Not overly cheesy, not dripping in traditional desi decorations, but perfectly arranged in a way that made it clear—this was their first night’s room.

[Essssssssssss… ye gande gande khayal tumhare… ashlil janta… hhhhhhuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhh!!!] (Ughhhh… you and your dirty thoughts… shameless people… huhhhhhhhhhh!!!)

Avantika's face turned warm as realization hit her. She gulped, her hands suddenly frozen mid-air as she processed everything. Meanwhile, Aadish simply stepped forward, removing his safa (wedding turban) with ease, completely unaffected by the decorated setting.

Avantika, however, was still stuck in her ashlil janta thoughts, blinking rapidly at the beautiful setup before her.

"So, Mrs. Avantika Aadish Rajawat… exhausted?" Aadish asked, his deep voice laced with amusement as he placed his hands gently on her shoulders.

Avantika, too tired to even pretend otherwise, let out a small pout before leaning forward, resting her head against his chest. "Yes, Mr. Rajawat… itni bhi jaan nahi bachi ki ab change karu," (I don’t even have the energy left to change now...) she murmured, her voice barely above a whisper.

With that, she completely surrendered her weight onto him, trusting him to hold her up. Aadish, unfazed, simply wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close, as if trying to merge her into himself. His grip was firm yet gentle, his embrace warm, capturing her in a way that made it seem like he was holding onto his very soul.

"Vani…" he called softly, but there was no response.

"Bachha…" he tried again, his voice even gentler this time as he tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

Still, no reply.

Frowning slightly, Aadish carefully shifted her away from his chest, only to find her already fast asleep. A small sigh left his lips, but instead of being annoyed, a tender smile played on his face. She looked so peaceful, completely lost in her dreams.

Cupping her cheek with one hand while supporting her with the other, he whispered, "Vani, bachha, uth jao… bas yeh change kar lo aap," (Wake up, love… just change out of this first.)

She stirred slightly, her eyelids fluttering open just enough to look at him. "Mr. R… bas 5 min sone do na, pakka uth jaungi," (Mr. R… just five more minutes, I promise I’ll wake up...) she mumbled sleepily, her voice barely audible.

Aadish let out a small chuckle at her adorably drowsy state. But he wasn’t giving up. His voice softened even more as he spoke like a true husband, "So, Mrs. R, please change… at least for me? Yeh jewelry aur yeh kapde chubh jayenge aapko," (These heavy clothes and jewelry will make you uncomfortable.)

His concern laced with affection made Avantika sigh. Even in her half-asleep state, she could feel his care. Slowly, she blinked at him, her lips parting slightly as if debating whether to argue or obey.
