Chapter 30: CHAPTER 28

"Mr. Walters agreed to meet him in his office at Walt Games." said Ashley Bollet yawning over a cup of tea. "So Axky came over to see him."

Paula and Vicky nodded. They had seen him leave home that evening. Paula half wished Axky hadn't taken up the job at Walt Games. Now that she thought about it her sixth sense had been yelling danger for months now. She cursed herself for ignoring the feeling, though at that time she assumed it was because she suspected Vicky was secretly sleeping around and doing drugs...but then that was untrue.

Right?

Damn it Paula. One problem at a time.

"Axky was here before time, around 8:45. Mr. Walters was waiting for him anyway so he went straight in." continued Ashley. "I showed him in and left. I didn't see him for at least another hour. I recall being very hungry when he came out. I'd say it was past ten by then."

"Past ten?" repeated Vicky her eyes wide. Levi had broken up with her around that time. At 10:26 pm to be precise. Why did he end it? How could he end it? But then again Vicky's sixth senses had been screaming warning signs to her for a few days now. But she thought she was being paranoid over nothing and attributed it to her lack of dating experience. In hindsight, Levi had been acting distant and was avoiding her. Hell the coward had even broken up with her on a Friday night over the phone.

Damn it Vicky. Stop worrying about that selfish idiot. Dad said he was a prat anyway. You honestly should have listened to him.

"Mr. Walters left with him. He had a plane to catch early this morning so I assumed Axky went home and Mr .Walters went to his hotel. I didn't get any further instructions or a dismissal from Mr. Walters so I left for the day. Honestly they didn't even look at me. I felt kind of stupid for waiting around for them when i just could have gone home." finished Ashley.

"That's it?" demanded Paula bringing her face close to poor sleepy Ashley's. "Didn't Mr. Walters even call before he left the country?"

"Um no." said Ashley looking frightened by Paula for a minute. Her sleepy lids opened and she widened her eyes to take in Paula's complete face. "Oh my God! Paula Fannington is in my hotel room! I can't believe this! I thought you looked familiar. Why are you married to that weirdo? I heard you cooked for the Queen last year. What is she like? I find your recipe for Christmas lunch to be the best personally, though my husband thinks your Thanksgiving dinner special is way better. Forget that! Oh my God! Can I take a picture with you, I'll put it up on Instagram and ----"

Paula groaned. Of all times to be a celebrity.

"Hey Ms. Bollet?" asked Vicky a frown gracing her soft features. "Can you tell me if they were in a hurry? I mean my dad and Mr. Walters? Did it seem as though they were rushing to do something?"

"Rushing?" repeated Ashley, deep in thought. "Now that you mention it, Axky was kind of racing out the doors. But I thought it was because Mr. Walters terrified him. He tends to do that sometimes."

"No he most likely was rushing off to do something. No one terrifies my husband." clarified Paula. "What are you thinking Vicky?"

"I smell a rat." said Vicky. She gave her mother a meaningful look before adding. "Mom, I think we are done here. Could we leave now please? I'd like to check some stuff."

Paula nodded. "Thank you Ms. Bollet. if you recieve any communication from Mr. Walters please ask him about my husband. Kindly let me know if you get any information. Here's my card."

Jack parked the motorbike beside the police station at three thirty am and sighed. They had all been looking everywhere for over two hours and hadn't found a trace of him. So Axky had just lodged a missing person complaint at the station.

The junior policemen seemed to think it was just another case, but as soon as the Superintendent heard he quickly placed Axky as an advisor to their cyber cell.

"Don't worry son, we'll find him. Our detectives will be here first thing tomorrow morning and we can start investigating."

But tomorrow morning wasn't good enough for Jack. He controlled the urge to light up a cigarette. Brielle had made him give it up years ago but now he was really craving one.

Axky where the hell are you?

Getting kidnapped isn't supposed to be your specialty. Brielle is already pissed.

I told you to learn self defense in high school.

You absolute idiot, if you sensed danger couldn't you have informed me? Or Paula or anyone?

"I am so worried about him. God damn it!" he said kicking the dirt at his feet in frustration.

Oops I did it again!

I'm breaking your heart!

Britney Spear's youthful voice rang out of his jeans pocket as he cursed loudly. It seemed someone always changed his ringtone to embarrassing pop songs. Now what a lovely tune it would be if he put something like metal music or ...

Oh baby baby...

Damn it Jack pick up the call!

"Hello?" he asked surprised to see that the call was from Vicky.

"Hey uncle Jack?" she said sounding oddly excited. "I found a new lead and I know someone who can help. The thing is um..."

"What is it Vicky?" he asked sensing Vicky's hesitation.

"I um ... well... um..." she paused.

"What is it honey?" came Paula's voice from the background. "You can tell us."

"Um... I've been um... kind of... in a ...um ...relationshi--- no... just dating! A guy." she said with difficulty.

There was a sharp intake of breaths from both sides of the phone. Paula held a hand over her throbbing forehead and Jack looked absolutely murderous.

"Did he do something to you Vicky?" demanded Jack. "Do you want me to break his face? I told the police about Axky so now I am pretty free---"

"NO!" said Vicky quickly. "I mean, he's really nice and all, um when he wants to be. He didn't hurt me, but he did break up with me...I sort of need your help because of that."

"You want my help to patch you guys together?" asked Jack disbelievingly. He'd do everything he could to keep them apart but requesting the opposite from him? No way.

"I say it's great you broke up." said Paula sounding relieved. "I recommend waiting till you are older..."

"Mom, uncle Jack, this guy I was dating, he can help us find Dad." said Vicky before she had a chance to get frustrated. "I've found enough evidence that points to him being heavily involved in what Dad and Mr. Walters were doing. It's just if the police get to him first he may not confess and we won't be able to find Dad. I want to talk to him, and ask for his help."

"But he broke up with me and he probably won't want to talk to me. I know his address and I know his mum is asleep right now. His window is a little high ---" started Vicky. "If you will come with me Uncle Jack, I think, no I know, he will help us."

Jack sighed. He wondered if Axky knew his precious daughter was going off to see a young boy in the middle of the night. Ah well, at least she was smart enough to request adult supervision.

"Alright Vicky." he said finally. "Put on your coat, I'll be there in fifteen."

"Thanks Uncle Jack!" she chirped happily. She would get to see Levi again.

"As soon as we find Axky, you young lady have a lot of explaining to do." said Paula in a deceptively sweet voice.

Vicky gulped but nodded. She could handle her mom, Paula was usually very lenient but she knew all too well that her dad would totally flip when he found out Vicky was dating the very boy who had called him an Old Man.

Really did Levi have to be such a prat?

(P.S. expect an office romance from me soon. If anyone is interested in making a cover please PM me :) Thanks )

Thanks for reading!
