Chapter 14: CHAPTER 13

"What kind of a project is this?" said Levi pushing away the paper in disgust.

Vicky bit the inside of her cheek to keep herself from squealing. Things were going much better than she thought. Levi would be compelled to spend time with her, maybe she could help him be less of an arrogant prat, and maybe accomplish what she came here to do in the first place.

"Well, movies, literature and food are more often than not accurately indicative of the beauty of various cultures. Old Javier here is just trying to liven up Spanish class." said Samthon with an infuriating smirk.

Levi looked so frustrated for a moment, Vicky thought he was going to explode.

"It-it won't be that bad." she said quickly. "Look, we we don't have to do anything you don't want to. Maybe we can work work on on parts of the project separately?"

She winced at herself stammering, but glad she hadn't blushed when she looked at Levi.

He stared at her curiously, his dark eyes searching her own, for something Vicky didn't recognize. His brow was furrowed in concentration, and his glasses hung gently on his nose, a few unruly locks of hair falling to his face. Vicky resisted the urge to brush her fingers over his smooth shaven skin and tuck the strands behind his ears. Her stomach lurched as he inched slightly closer to her suddenly on the small bench, his eyes never leaving her light brown ones.

"You know Vicky," he said huskily, setting her heart rapidly thundering in her chest. "More than all of this, I have a somewhat personal theory I want to test." he said seriously.

"Which one?" she asked her breath hitching as Levi's mouth came dangerously close to her left ear.

"You'll know soon enough." he whispered, his breath ghosting against her skin, sending shivers down her spine.

Vicky was glad she was sitting down. Heaven knows her knees had turned to jelly already.

"Wh-what?" she managed.

He laughed softly as the bell rang. "You blush so easily." he commented, suddenly moving away from her. Why did the space feel so empty and her skin so cold when he did?

"See you Vicky." he said standing up and walking out of the classroom without turning for a second a look.

Vicky let out a breath she didn't know she was holding, feeling lightheaded and giddy all of a sudden. Gosh, was this how everyone felt when they were in such close proximity to someone they liked?

"So Vicky," came a voice. She turned to her left startled to see Samthon sitting on the bench beside her. His light blue eyes gazed into hers, his face so close she could count his eyelashes...

"Whoa---" she said holding on to the desk to avoid falling over.

"Hey you okay there?" he asked putting a hand on the small of her back to steady her.

Vicky's heart thundered in her chest as she tried to catch her breath. Samthon had such lovely tanned skin, such kissable lips and perfectly golden hair...he smelled so nice and ...

For the love of God, Vicky get yourself together! You can't get all hormonal with every guy you see!

"Yes, yes." she stuttered avoiding his gaze and staring at the pen marks on her desk.

"I was wondering if you'd like to go to go out with me." he said with a dazzling smile.

Despite the adrenaline surging through her veins, Vicky frowned at that. Unless she'd been mistaken, wasn't Samthon trying to set her up with Levi?

Levi and he were supposed to be best friends weren't they?

"No." she said firmly.

"And why not?" he said, eyebrows furrowing. "What's so great about him? He's painfully ordinary if you ask me. No special talents, no money, he's not even that good looking."

Vicky looked at him sharply, her eyes bright.

"I don't know what you are playing at." she said looking straight at him, an unexpected trembling bubbling up in her chest. "But you can stop with the games."

Samthon raised his eyebrows. "I don't get what you mean."

Vicky snapped at that.

"Levi is not ordinary. He's the most amazing person I've met, even if he is a jerk sometimes." she said, the words rushing out before she could stutter. "It doesn't matter to me even if he is gifted with plenty of money, I'd still like him the same. And he is very handsome, if you ask me."

Samthon was grinning at her, white perfect teeth blaring at her before he burst out into maniacal laughter.

"You absolute idiot." he said as he dried the corner of his eyes. "I thought you were a bit dull, but not this stupid."

Vicky contemplated kicking him in the groin, but the angle from where she was seated wasn't a good one. She stood up quickly, whirling around with her leg raised, ready to explain to him once and for all that she wasn't going to take any shit from anyone---

A cool palm landed on her shoulder, effectively lowering her leg. She spun around quickly, to stare straight into David's face. He was glaring at Samthon, his mouth stuck in a straight line, the lip ring glinting under the tubelight.

"You are late for class Vicky." he said succinctly, pulling her arm and leading her away.

Vicky nodded as she followed him out. What had come over her? Why did she need to be so defensive about Levi anyway? It's not like he even cared...

"We are so late." commented David, licking his lips nervously leading her downstairs.

Class...class...which class did she have today? Vicky struggled to remember.

They landed in front of the gymnasium, as David pushed open the large door.

The first thing Vicky saw, was a shirtless Levi wiping his neck with a towel. He was wearing navy blue shorts that flaunted his sculpted thighs and an ensemble of knee high socks and sneakers.

It was only when she averted her gaze that Vicky realized he was playing basketball, with the rest of her class. There didn't seem to be a teacher nearby, perhaps it was a do-as-you-like session today.

She was standing in the shadow by the door alone as David seemed to have disappeared from beside her. Where was he?

She looked around, unable to find him, before her eyes landed on Levi again. He was done drying himself, and was about to put on his navy blue tank top, when he spotted her.

And smiled.

Then he turned around to join the game, grabbing the basketball pass from a ridiculously good looking Samthon, hell knows how he got there before them, before jumping up and sending the ball in through the basket.

He didn't celebrate the score, instead he turned towards Vicky, still standing by the door.

And winked.

Vicky gripped the door handle tight, thinking she would melt any moment now. Were all these good looking boys trying to kill her?

A/N: I'm sorry! Forgive me please? Pretty please with a cherry on top? with whipped cream and strawberries and chocolate cake?

What did you think of this chapter? Why do you think Samthon did what he did?

And what do you think about Levi's wink?

Thanks for reading!
