Chapter 658 Poor Thing âMommy, even though Mr. Landis wasnât Xavienâs and my father, he saved me in the end.â Determination shone in Claytonâs eyes. âIâm not strong enough to find the perpetrator. So Mommy, can I ask for a favor to help avenge Mr. Landis?â
Natalie had always taught Clayton and Xavian to be grateful and repay those who had helped them.
As such, she wasnât the least bit surprised when she heard Claytonâs request.
âIâll help you,â Natalie agreed with a firm nod.
Claytonâs lips tilted into a smile as he thanked Natalie.
âThank you, Mommy.â
Franklin, Sophia, and Xavian released a relieved sigh when they saw Clayton leaving the study with a smile.
Natalie watched the kids waiting for Clayton outside the room with a gentle gaze. She was glad that the kidsâ were united during hardships.
After having dinner together, she spent some time with them.
Even though they were each doing their own stuff, they were comfortable with each otherâs presence.
The kids began to tire out from reading, so they obediently lined up to the bathroom to wash up before getting into bed.
Natalie tucked each of them into their beds and gave each of their heads a gentle peck before turning on the night lamp and leaving the room.
When she got back to her room, she saw Samuel had already washed up and was sitting on the bed in his black robe.
âYou were with the kids the whole time?â Samuel lifted his gaze from the document in his hand and focused it on Natalieâs face as he spoke.
âYeah.â Natalie nodded with a smile. âMaybe it was because I missed Franklin and Sophia growing up when they were younger, so I wanted to be by their side now. I want to be there for them from now on.â
She had just reached Samuelâs side when he tugged on her wrist and pulled her onto the bed.
âSamuel, what are youââ
âShouldnât you spend time with me now that the kids are asleep?â Samuelâs dark gaze locked onto hers. âWeâve lost five years together. Shouldnât you spare some time for me too?â
âI didnât even know you and hadnât even liked you then. So you canât actually say that weâve lost five years,â Natalie said, blinking her eyes innocently.
âIâm sure I will still fall for you all the same if I have met you then.â Samuel pressed a kiss to her hand. âYou have to come up with some way to repay me for the five years we lost. Especially the nights.â
Samuel stressed the word ânight.â
Natalie could feel her face heat up at the innuendo.
This guy just canât keep it in his pants.
Every time she heard rumors about him being celibate, she had wanted to correct them. After all, he was the total opposite when he was in bed. He wouldnât stop until she was screaming and begging for mercy.
Seeing the blush on her face, Samuel stopped teasing her and pulled her against his chest.
âDidnât you ever feel the connection that you could be Franklinâs and Sophiaâs biological mother when you were with them?â he asked.
âI did feel some indescribable connection when I was with them.â Natalie muttered, âI just... didnât dare to think about it deeper. I was scared that it was all my imagination. If my hopes fell short, wouldnât it be pitiful?â
Natalieâs voice turned airier as she spoke.
Samuel didnât expect Natalie to be upset at his random question.
He tightened his arms around her and said, âIâm sorry, Nat.â
