Third Person POV~
"So... Do you want to talk about it?"
"Talk about what?" Lily asked in an annoyed tone.
Two weeks had passed since the tribrids transitioned into vampirism, and to say she was happy to be back at the Salvatore school was an understatement.
"About what happened in History of Magic. Or we can start with what happened during your trip. Yesterday was your first day back, I understand it can be difficult." Dr. Goodfellow tells the girls calmly.
~Flashback~
History of Magic was the first class Lily had for the day. When she walked in, the room went silent. Small and quiet whispers began to spread around the room when she took her usual seat.
The blonde tapped her fingers against the obsidian topped table as conversations flooded her ears from all around her.
"She's back." "She looks different." "-she looks hot." "do you think Josie will try and kill her again?"
Only for the voice to stop once more.
Hearing the small gasps from students, Lily turned to glance at the door to see who entered, and froze.
The whispers started again as Lizzie and Josie moved into the room.
"I think it'll be the other way around." "Is the baby ripper gonna show her fangs?"
The blonde twin smiled brightly before walking to her normal seat. "I missed you so much." Lizzie said as she sat down next to Lily.
"I missed you too." Lily responded quietly.
"How are you? I mean you wouldn't be back if you weren't doing well right?" Lizzie asked as she looked her up and down to see if she was fine.
"I'm doing ok Lizzie." Lily said with a small smile.
Lizzie beamed before moving for a hug, only for her sister to move back.
The blonde siphon frowned at this. "Baby steps, Lizzie." Lily told her with an apologetic smile before focusing on the board as the teacher came in.
~Present~
"I don't know what you're talking about." Lily comments coldly as she looks out the window. She didn't want to be in the therapists office right now.
"So you don't remember what you did to those students?" Dr. Good fellow asks knowingly.
Flashback~
The whispers went on as the teacher spoke at the front of the classroom. Lizzie could see the aggitatedness of her sister, Lily would constantly tap the table with multiple fingers as if she was playing the piano.
After a few minutes, Lizzie glanced at the table when it made a small cracking sound. Little indents where Lily's fingers were taping were cracked into the table.
Lizzie subtly glanced around and saw students looking at Josie and Lily.
Gently, the Saltzman placed her hand on top of her sister's, effectively stopping the tapping. "Its ok. Just breathe." Lizzie whispered, but she watched Liky nod a little.
Hearing the snicker behind the two blondes, the fire alarms erupted, the spinkler system turned on, and the drinks that were in cups and bottles students brought to class burst.
Witches jumped up and screamed as they became drenched, some ran out the room, some tried to protect their things from the water.
Present~
"No." Lily shook her head and kissed her teeth. "Nothing... Really... out of the ordinary comes to mind at the moment... So." the blonde shrugged with an upside down smile.
The counsler nodded his head slowly. "And what about your trip? Let's get to that shall we?"
"Oh you know, my hour is, uh, up actually." Lily points to the clock. "Would you look at the time. Such a nice talk Dr. Goodfellow. Buh-bye."
Before she could walk away he stopped her, "As the guidance counselor, I can schedule more time, Lillian. However, as it happens I do have someone coming in the next few minutes, so." he pauses and smiles as he places his hands together on the desk.
"Take an hour, and see if you can recall some of those peaky memories aye? Then we can talk more."
Lillian rolled her eyes before vamp speeding away.
------
"-I had really bad headache." Lily heard as she opened the door.
The two froze when seeing each other.
"I thought you said to come back in an hour-" Lily stated as she used her thumb and pointed towards the hallway, moving to leave.
"Lillian, please stay. I thought it would be good for the three of us to have a chat." Dr. Goodfellow motions the girl back in the room.
As she slowly walks to the chair near Hope, the Mikaelson looks away annoyed. "Well, we can't really have a couple's session if we're not a couple, can you?" the silence made Hope look over at the Salvatore. "Right?"
The blonde awkwardly placed her hands in her pants pockets. "I don't know what we are."
"Well. She walked away because she's scared she'll suck me dry." Hope says dryly.
"You say that as if it couldn't happen. And I didn't walk away." Lily defended as she sat down.
"Your feet physically moved in a direction away from me. How was Europe this time of year anyway?" Hope snarks, and Lily narrows her eyes before looking away and huffing.
"I didn't walk away from the relationship permanently, I just need time to get more control."
"I heal faster than anyone, my family are the Original Vampires, I read their journals, and I will literally come back to life if you kill me. I should be helping you learn control-" Hope argued.
"-You don't want to be a vampire and we both know it." Lily interrupted. This made the original tribrid quiet and look away with a frustrated sigh.
"Yeah well, things are complicated clearly." Lily says as she gestures to herself and her lover.
"I don't have time for this. I was tracking a monster before I got here." Hope started.
"Cool. Have fun monster hunting. I have vampire class." with that, Lily vamped away.
-----
Lily jumped when her bedroom door burst open.
"Ok. I get that you want to keep your distance but I need your help." Lizzie says quickly as she waltzes in.
Lily points to the door with her mouth open, a confused look on her face.
Seeing this, Lizzie smirks proudly, looking back at the open door. "Oh. I've been siphoning that door everyday twice a day and I finally broke through the spell enough to let me through."
Lily sighs before closing her book giving Lizzie her undivided attention.
Lizzie drops the act and sighs sadly "Landon is writing the Salvatore Musical."
"I heard. I hear a lot now, like how you're playing mom." Lily comments with a smile.
"We were going to run Mom's number and... I just froze. I can't live up to our perfect mother." Lizzie looks down at her lap before continuing, "You know maybe Jo should have played her. They're more alike. Mature, patient, kind."
"Maybe now." Lizzie furrows her eyebrows at this.
"What do you mean?" she asks.
"Mom wasn't always so calm and mature. I remember reading it in my dad's journals."
"She became a vampire and it got better. Like one moment set her life on course." Lizzie said quietly.
Lily scoffed a laugh, "Believe me Lizzie it's not easy. Why do you think I'm on the other side of the room?" Lily asks from her seat on the bay window.
"But I thought you were doing well with mom." Lizzie says softly as she sits on the bed.
"I was... I am, it's just... London didn't have everyone whispering about me. It was easier, when no one knew me."
Lizzie frowned at this. "I get it. Trust me. That's why I brought this." Lizzie pauses as she goes into her bag and brings out a singing bowl.
Lily sighed. She knew what Lizzie was doing, but she also knew that they both needed this.
"Close the door." Lily commented as she moved to her carpet and sat down. Lizzie smiled and did what her sister said.
"Give me your hands." Lizzie said as she reached out. The tribrid sighed and slowly did as her sister said. Taking the handle, together they began to slowing trace the singing bowl.
Lily breathed uneasily, so Lizzie spoke up, "shhh, it's ok, just breathe... Focus on the feeling of the vibration."
The louder the singing bowl got, the faster it vibrated until eventually it cracked.
The blondes sighed loudly when they let go. "Thanks for trying Lizzie." Lily said softly as she laid down on the floor.
"Hey Lizzie?" hearing a hum in return, Lily continued, "I'm happy you're ok."
"I know you're still struggling, but I'm glad you're here. When I woke up and your were... It felt like some of the part of my brain that keeps me sane broke."
Before more could be said there was a knock at the door.
Opening the door, Lily's face went blank. "What do you want muppet." she asks coldly.
Landon smiles awkwardly. "I uh, thought we were meeting to write the musical."
"Excuse me?" Lily cocked her head.
"-uh, Dr. Goodfellow said you agreed to help me write the musical. You know all of these people for real-"
"Exactly. I don't want to help you write a musical about my family, Landon. And Dr. Goodfellow never-"
Lily paused in her sentence when a note appeared in front of her face.
Lillian, the uphold the schools accreditations we are having a musical. If you help Landon write it, you'll be able to chose a class and get credit for so you no longer have to take it.
After all, the Salvatire Musical deserves the voice of the reigning Salvatore.
-----
"-Wait, wait, wait... So Hope's family threw a ball for the entire town when they all got undaggered and Hope's evil grandmother came back to life?" Landon asks.
"Yeah, her dad even gave my mom the dress she wore, and it's a moment where Elena had to chose who to dance with, Stefan or Damon."
-----
Landon holds his head and Lily slams hers against the table in frustration. "There's just so much going on. I don't really know what I want the story to be about." the ex-phoenix says.
"Its about saying goodbye." Lily says quietly as she thinks. "I think I have an idea for the final song."
-----
Lily knocked on the door before opening it. Her breath hitched when she the Mikaelson, still beautiful as ever standing in front of an empty canvas.
"Hey... Look I know that we haven't been on the best of terms, but I wanted to talk to you about something." Lily said as she walks a bit closer.
Hope places her paintbrush down and turns to the blonde, crossing her arms.
"Dr. Goodfellow thought it would be a good idea for me to help out with writing the musical, and when trying to write about my family's lives it felt like I was missing something. And I was. I was talking to Dr. Goodfellow about what your family says. Always and Forever. And something just clicked."
Lily moved to hand Hope a piece of paper.
"I want you to read it. It'll be for the last song. You were right alright? I want to protect you, but staying away isn't protecting you, it's hurting you. I love you I don't want to do that-"
"You used a letter that my dad wrote me, that I let you read, as lyrics?"
Lily looked down when she heard Hope's tone.
"You knew I wouldn't have wanted my family in this musical. Why would you include them?!"
Lily's eyebrows crease at this, "No offense but your family is literally the Original family. Your dad is the Original hybrid, they're part of important parts of the story-"
"So what made you think it was ok to use my letter?!" Hope yelled and Lily looked away frustratedly.
After a few seconds of silence the blonde spoke, "I heard what happened in the library."
This made Hope look away this time and shift on her feet.
"Look, " Lily began in a softer tone, "I know what those books say, I've read them jut like you, just like those students. But I also remember meeting your dad."
Hope takes a deep breath at this, not bothering to move her gaze from the wall.
"I remember how much her cared for you. Even though he was upset he still loved you, did everything to protect you from the dangers of our world. But nobody else has. They just see him as the monster Alaric thought him to be. I used that letter to show that he wasn't the monster people thought him to be."
With that, the Salvatore was gone.
------
Lily was reading in her room when her door burst open again.
"You can't knock Lizzie?"
"I have an idea of how to fix you and Hope and it involves the musical."
Lily laughs, "I don't think Hope wants anything to do with that, and I did my part. I'm done."
"Just hear me out-"
"Lizzie, for the last time, I'm not going to be in the musical! It's hard enough keeping my emotions in check as it is along with hearing everyone's heartbeats and a new wolf temper only you and I know about. I don't want to be in a musical that is based around my dead father! I did enough helping to write it!" Lily tells her sister as she moves to leave her room..
"Look, I know that all of what you just said is valid-"
---
"-But the ballroom waltz was really important to my mom and your dad, Lizzie and I thought having you play your dad and having-" Josie tells the Mikaelson in her room.
Hope raises her eyebrows at this.
---
"...having You play mom just for this scene-"
---
"Would be really special since their love was kind of passed down to them." Landon finished the pitch to Dr. Goodfellow.
"I like where you are going with this Landon. Now if you can get Lillian and Hope agree, it might be the best part of the musical." the fae tells him and Landon puts on a dumb smile.
"Way ahead of you!" The Kirby boy yells as he starts to run down the hallway.
---
At the end of Lizzie's speech, Lily sat on her bed staring at her sister dumbfounded.
"...We would get mom's dress back out and alter it to fit you, and maybe a new dress for Hope, oh, maybe a nice suit.-" Lizzie begins to rattle off ideas.
"No." Lily says blankly.
"What do you mean no?" Lizzie asks
"I mean no." Lily dryly laughs.
"Go tell Landon to erase that part of the stupid play. I've got places to be." Lily says before speeding out of the room, leaving the door open.
----
Lily was painting when she heard the piano start.
"Why is it never me?
Never the one who gets found
The boys I like
Never seem to like me
Can you blame them, when she's around?
Elena's calm. She has a grace.
Me I'm just nervous energy all out of place.
Elena's smart
Knows what to say
I'm just fumbljng as my words get in the way.
She has those eyes
That smile
That perfect face
And then there me
I'm just ok
But maybe someone out there it looking for ok
Just hurry up and find me, ok?"
Lily walked behind stage and smiled when Lizzie finished her song. "Good job Lizziebear, "
"Perfect, you're here. It's your turn to play mom."
Lily questioned this. "Dr. Goodfellow made it a requirement for you and Hope since you both were lacking in school social skills this year." Lizzie smirked before dragging the tribrid off to get changed.
---
When Lily walked onto stage in the beautiful blue dress, the audience erupted.
Looking over, she saw Hope walk out in a white suit.
Her gaze was harsh for a moment before she smiled, "Caroline, " Klaus said as she approached the blonde. "Dare I say, you look beautiful in blue." Hope smirks dashingly, making Lily roll her eyes.
On the other side of the stage, Damon and Elena we're arguing before moving to dance.
"Of course. Shall we?" Hope holds out her hand, and the music began.
As the dance began, the duo was center stage for a moment next to Damon and Elena. "You look stunning, if it isn't obvious, " Damon tells his partner.
"I'm glad you came." Klaus says,
"Well it was either caviar or sympathy casseroles, so." Caroline shrugs.
"I heard about your father-" Hope starts, "Don't. Seriously," Lily stops her.
"Very well, onto more mannered subjects then. Like how ravishing you look in that dress."
"I didn't really have time to shop." Caroline answers.
"And the bracelet I gave you, what your excuse for wearing that?" Hope raises Lily's arm a bit higher to show the bracelet Hope had given her as a birthday present year's ago.
"You're quite the dancer." Hope smiles after a moment of silence.
"Well, I've had training. I happen to be Ms. Mystic Falls."
Hope smiles at that, "I know."
The two smiled a little again as they did the movements again.
A few claps were heard from the crowd of students that were enjoying the musical.
-----
"-I am not letting you sacrifice yourself like this." Kaeb said.
"I already did. I died Damon. But I just wanted to say goodbye. I don't have long."
"How could you be so stupid?!"
"I was trying to be like you, Brother."
Lily watched from behind stage as the ending played out.
"-I love you Stefan. I will always love you." Lizzie started.
"You can rest.
And be at peace
You don't have to worry what becomes of me.
Because of you, I'm who I am today.
Don't worry love, I'll be ok.
You don't have to fear, I'm going to be ok."
The Salvatore looked away and wiped the tear that left her eye.
She went off into her own thoughts. She was only broken out of the trance when she heard her lovers voice.
"They promised always
They said forever
But in the end I'm left alone.
I've tired running but time always finds me.
And it will take and take
And what you low is never safe.
And everyone you need one day will go
So when you said forever, and you wonder that I ran, "
Kaleb moved a little so Hope was looking at Lily.
"But I think I'd rather lose you
Than have never held your hand.
So if forever, is just tomorrow
I want it face it with you by my side
And if our always is just one more day
Thats one day more you've changed me life.
And I don't want to love you afraid,
Of the day that my hearts bound to break.
So if forever is just tomorrow,
Than tomorrow I'll love you
Always."
The blonde smile before running out to the stage, pulling the Mikaelson into a kiss.
Fireworks erupted around the two as the audience clapped.
"I missed you." Lily whispers as they break apart, the blonde holding Hope's face gently. "I missed you too, " Hope says as she wraps the blonde into a tight hug.
-----
"You wanna go first or should I?" Hope asks as the two sit at the dock looking at the misty water.
"How about at the same time?"
"I'm sorry." the two said in unison.
"Thank you for saving the show. I might not have directed it, but helping Landon write it was actually insightful. The story is about learning to say goodbye."
Lily paused before speaking again, "I'm not the same person I used to be. Not... By a long shot, and- I need to say goodbye to who I once was once and figure out who I am now. I don't know who or what that person is, but I do know-"
Lily turned and looked Hope in her beautiful ocean blue eyes, "-that I love you. So just bare with me?"
Hope smiled and caressed Lily's cheek lovingly. "I love you too... And you were right. About my dad. You made everyone see him the way that I did. Thank you."
"Always. Hope Andrea Mikaelson." Hope giggled a little. "Always." Lily reassured placing a kiss on the Mikaelson girl's knuckles.
