Lily's POV~
When I wake up, I see that Lizzie is already awake and just starting at the ceiling, so I do the same. After a few minutes, I finally speak, "Do you think today will be worse or better than last year? Because if it's anything like last year, I don't want to leave this room." at this, she sighs. "I can't imagine how it could get worse than you getting buried alive again Lil." she tells me before getting up and getting dressed.

Lizzie and I decided to be attached at the hip today so we sat next to each other as the assembly started.
"I know you are all worried. Believe me, no one is more worried than I am. My daughter Josie is still missing. But even as I speak, we're doing everything we can to find her. Jed and the wolves are attempting to track her. Kaleb and the vampires have compelled local police for any help they can provide. We will find her and bring her home. That said, I just want to reiterate, under no circumstances should any of you approach her. While she is our family and friend, she is under the influence of black magic and... Not herself. Your safety and Josie's is my top priority. I promise you, I will break through to her, and bring back the Josie we know and love safely. But first, we just have to find her."
At the end of Alaric's very long and can I say, depressing speech, the big doors open, making us all turn to them. And then we see Josie, looking... Dark. "I'm right here, dad." she says and then basically flies down the stairs. "That's a neat trick." I whisper and get slapped by Lizzie, "Lily! Now is not the time." she says and I mumble a small sorry.
"Well don't look so shocked. Did you really think I would miss my birthday?" Josie says and then glances towards Lizzie and I. "Oh, I'm sorry. Our birthday." Josie corrects herself and tucks a piece of hair behind both of our ears, making me grab her wrist. But when I do, my hand starts to burn, "Ow!" I yell and pull my hand away fast and watch the burn heal. "So... What did I miss?" she asks completely ignoring Lizzie and I, which I think is kind of a good thing.

"How are you today? I know that last year was kind of rough, you know with your dad and all." Hope asks me as we walk to the main part of the school. "Um, I... Don't really know. You know with everything that's been going on I think I'm still processing that it's my birthday..." and then I pause, not sure if I want to say what I'm thinking, but Hope, knowing me probably more than I know myself right now, sees that I still have something on my mind. "But..." she says, encouraging me to continue, so I do.
"But even with everything going on, more so, in fact, with everything going on, I'm... A little more than shocked that my mom isn't here. I know the last time I saw her, or even spoke to her, I didn't leave on good terms but you'd think that after being stuck with a serial killer in a prison world, and this whole thing with Josie, and today being our birthday that she'd come home at least for the day." And when I finish, we see Josie hugging MG, but when I see he starts to desiccate, Kaleb and I speed over and pull him away.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" Kaleb yells at my sister as he pulls MG away and I stay in between the vampires and my sister. "Oh wait your turn, Kaleb. Plenty of hugs to go around. Right, Lily?" Josie says and before I can process what she said, I'm pulled into a hug, but I can feel her siphoning me too. "Jo... Josie stop, that hurts." I say and try to pull away. I can hear Kaleb and Hope trying to get Josie to let go, but then everything goes black.
Third Person POV~
The moment that Josie pulled Lily into a hug, Hope had moved to stop her. But after both Hope and Kaleb trying to pry Lily from her sister, Josie drops her. "Oh my god. Oh my god, Lily?" Hope starts as she kneels down to try and wake her girlfriend. "Oops." Josie says and walks away. "Thank god. She's still breathing." Hope says once she's checked on the Salvatore.
After putting a still unconscious Lily in her room and having Lizzie stay with her, Kaleb and Hope went to Alaric's office. "So that's your plan? To lock Josie in the box?" Kaleb asks as Alaric hangs up the magical facetime with Professor Vardemus. "Which you know she is fully capable of controlling, right?" Hope states as she closes the door.
"Professor Vardemus assured me she wouldn't be able to do that at this difficulty level. Plus, the box will keep her safe until Caroline and I can figure out a way to help her permanently." Alaric tells the two teens and Kaleb isn't having it. "Yeah, but what if she hurts someone before you do? She just tried to desiccate MG." Kaleb tells him and Hope nods her head but before she can voice her opinion Alaric speaks. "And that's a good sign. Because she is fully capable of doing much worse, if anything, I see that as a sign that she can still be reached."
"Yeah well, I looked into her freaking black eyes and I'm not sure about that Doc." Kaleb retaliates and Hope steps in so no yelling starts, "Look, we want to help Josie, obviously, but we need to keep the school safe. MG wasn't the only person she attacked today. She drained Lily of almost all her magic, she almost killed her own sister." when Hope sees a worried look on the headmaster's face she puts a hand out and speaks again, "Don't worry, Lily is fine. Thankfully. Lizzie is with her waiting for her magic to build back up so she'll wake up."
"But we need to be treating this as a monster problem. If Josie almost killed her own sister, what's she gonna do to the rest of us she doesn't care about." Kaleb tells Alaric, but Alaric doesn't get it. "I just don't see it that way." he says and Hope looks at Kaleb with an I Knew It kind of look. "We know." Hope says and Kaleb speaks right after, "Gonna have to sit this one out." with that, Hope opens the box ad Alaric gets sucked into the game.

Lizzie jumps in her spot on the bed when Lily shoots up quickly. "Jesus. Why do you always do that!" Lizzie says as she calms her heart rate from the jump scare. "Ow. Ugh, what the hell happened?" Lily asks as she rubs her head. "Josie tried to drain all of your magic from your body. Luckily she let you go before you actually died because if she didn't you probably wouldn't be breathing." Lizzie tells her sister, not bothering to sugar coat it. "Lucky me." Lily says in an annoyed tone.
"You know, you suck at predictions." Lily starts as she gets up and decides to change into something reflecting her bad mood. "What do you mean?" Lizzie asks as she watches her sister speed around and stop once she's in black leather pants and a lacy red crop top with dark red lipstick and curled hair. "You said that this year's birthday wouldn't be as bad as last year's. So far, it's been about the same. Crazed family member trying to kill me, and you. So I think we can check premonitions off the list of things you can do."
At this remark, Lizzie rolls her eyes but smiles nonetheless at her sister's antics, until she realized something. "Hey Lil?" after hearing a hum in response from her sister as she picks out some black heels Lizzie continues, "Josie siphoned almost ALL of your magic. What does she need all your new tribrid magic for?" at this, both sisters lock eyes in worry and confusion at why Josie would need her magic.

"Okay that settles it. Our sister is definitely a monster. Who else would decorate our birthday party with black?" Lizzie tells Hope as the two blonde siblings sit down next to her. "Shouldn't you be in like, witness protection, or something. Both of you." Hope says the last part looking to her other side at her girlfriend who just smiles. "If she still wants to kill me, the safest place I can be is right here next to you two. So spill. I want in on whatever plan you've got cooking up." Lizzie says and Hope hushes her a little.
"Okay, just, keep it down. We don't want her to know that we're up to anything." Hope tells the two and then Dark Josie appears behind them. "Up to what exactly?" this makes all three girls go a little tense. "Come on guys, this is all so unnecessary. If you have something to ask me, go ahead. I don't bite." Dark Josie tells them and makes a small biting motion towards Lily and Hope subconsciously grabs the girl's hand.
"Then I will. Where is Josie?" Hope asks and Dark Josie looks at her with a smile, "I'm right here, silly." she answers and Lily speaks up this time, "She meant the real Josie. You know, my sweet sister who likes fairy tales, and board games, and cuddles. Not the one that tries to drain all the magic out of me. Which by the way, not cool, and uncalled for."
"So you mean weak Josie-- she's gone I thought I made that very clear. Thanks to you, selfish sissy." Dark Josie says, looking at Lizzie. "You're right, okay? Can you just come back? I'll try and change." Lizzie tells her twin and it doesn't work. "You always try to change. And it never sticks. So pass." Dark Josie tells her and Lily speaks up to defend her sister, "Hey, Jo, that's not fair. Lizzie has done really well this year, if anyone has been selfish this year it's been me." "Good point! It's both of you. Thank you, Lily, for admitting you're also at fault. I'm glad you know. Any other questions?" Dark Josie says as she stands up.
"You said you came back here for a reason. Because deep down, you know that we can bring the good inside of you out." Hope says and Dark Josie just sighs, "You're right. I do have a reason. And now, I have to ruin the surprise." at this, Dark Josie snaps her fingers and a sign falls, saying Happy Merge-Day. Josie turns to see her blonde sisters jaws dropped. "Merging isn't even possible, we're not 22." Lizzie says as she looks at the sign.
"Yeah, see, turns out that's just a guideline. Kind of like driving a car, or smoking cigarettes, nobody wants you to do it before you're old enough. But. You. Can. So, I'll see you both tonight, Hope you can come as well, finger foods at around 7:30-ish and then the merge at 8:00. Oh, and don't be late, Lizzie. Or else I will have to do something drastic." after she said this, Dark Josie walked away.

Lily dials a familiar number into her phone and puts it to her ear as it rings. When the other person picks up, Lily doesn't give them a chance to talk before speaking. "Look I know we haven't talked in a while, and the last time we did I didn't leave things on the best of terms, but I figured you would still be here for us when we needed you." "Lily? God, it's so good to hear your voice... I'm trying to find a way to help Josie, and find a way to stop the merge-"
"Josie is trying to merge with Lizzie today?! So the merge is happening! You can't stop it and neither can I! And you certainly can't stop it when you're on the other side of the world now, can you! We need you here mom! Not some half version of you that we see once a year! So get here and help your daughters!" at this, Lily hangs up and goes to her sister's room.

"Okay, I grabbed your medium-sized suitcase. We can get you more clothes if you need them when we're on the road. That is like the best part about compulsion, you can get anything you want for free." Lily tells her sister as she opens a suitcase on Lizzie's bed.
"I thought you said you wanted to help." Hope tells her girlfriend's sister who is pulling clothes from her dresser. "That was before I knew Josie wanted to merge. Aka force a battle of wills where the winner literally absorbs the loser. Meaning me." Lizzie states as she packs the last of her things, seeing Lily sped around the room and packed the rest for her.
"Please just hear her out. We can't help Jo without you." MG says and Lily stops and looks at him. "Yeah, actually. We can. Lucky for you, Josie has two sisters. Which means, Lizzie leaves, and I stay." she tells them and holds up two pairs of car keys, "My car or yours?" she asks Lizzie handing her the keys. Lizzie just pulls Lily to sit down next to her on the bed. "Five minutes Mikaelson. And this plan of yours had better include a nuclear warhead."
"I'm making a potion-" Hope starts but the blonde sisters speak at once, "Oh! Fizzie, refreshing. Not a nuke!" "Lizzie. Lily. Please." Hope says gently and both girls just cross their arms. "Okay. Tell me about this potion." Lizzie says and Hope continues, "It'll create a fortified locality within your psyche when you merge." "I'm sorry- when she merges?" Lily stops her girlfriend. "Well, there's really no way around that part. But if this works it'll create a safe space in your mind, divide Josie's consciousness and yours when you absorb her." Hope explains and the siblings look unimpressed.
"And after we detox her with a dark magic cleanse, we'll be able to put Jo's mind back into her body." MG tells them and Hope speaks again, "And ugh, both of you will be normal, ish." "Okay, you said when I absorb her. Does this stupid plan only work if I win?" Lizzie asks and Hope nods a little, "Technically yes." "But... We believe in you." MG says and Lily shakes her head. "No fucking way." "Well there's your first mistake, right there, okay? I am my biggest fan, and even I know that Lord Josiemort is going to squash me like a bug." Lizzie says in a panic.
"That's why I'm here." MG says and Lily yells, "To clean up her bug guts? Are you guys completely insane?!" "No. To train her." he responds and starts doing small punches and cheers for whatever daydream is going through his head. "Seriously? The merge is a mental battle, MG, not ninja worrier, or whatever is in your head." Lizzie tells him and he stutters back "W-well we can train your brain too. I'm all about mind over matter."
"No. You really can't. It's called the battle of wills for a reason guys. The person who is stronger and wants to win more, lives. And the other, gets absorbed and dies. And because of how much black magic Josie has, and the magic she took from me, means she is more powerful so there's a good 80/20 chance that she'll kill Lizzie. And I sure as hell, am not letting either of my sisters die. Especially on our birthday." Lily states and Hope agrees with her. "No, they're right. We need to find a witch that can help Lizzie."
"No need. If I need to find out I have what it takes to win this thing, I know just the witch." Lizzie says and walks out of her room to find Alyssa.

"Lily! Pack a bag. We're getting the hell out of here." Lizzie tells her sister as she burst into the Salvatore girl's room. "Already packed. My car or yours?" Lily asks as she grabs her bags and both sets of keys. "Yours is faster. Let's go." Lizzie says and they both walk out.

"Lily's car is gone and so are they. Lizzie and Lily bolted." MG says as he walks into Alaric's office where Kaleb and Hope are looking at Alyssa's dead body. "Is she?" MG asks as he looks at the body too. "I knew Josie was dangerous- I just didn't think that she was capable of something like this. I mean, she didn't actually kill Lily, I thought she wouldn't kill anyone else." Hope says as she looks between MG and Alyssa. "It's my fault. If I could've just, gotten through to her." MG starts but Kaleb stops him.
"Like I keep saying. There is no getting through to her." Kaleb tells the two. "We are not giving up on Josie. The only way to protect the school is to bring her back." Hope tells them, refusing to give up on her friend. "Tell that to Alyssa, Hope." Kaleb tells her monotonly. "If we give up now she'll have does for nothing. So we have to stick to the plan." Hope tells him before turning to MG.
"And you need to bring Lizzie and Lily back. Lizzie needs you, MG. We all do." Hope tells him in a soft voice when she sees his indecisiveness. And with that, he speeds out of the room to find the two sisters. Kaleb scoffs as he moves to a bookshelf. "What are you doing?" Hope asks as Kaleb opens up a secret room. "What you won't. Putting together a plan B in case this goes sideways." he answers her as he grabs a crossbow.
"I can't let you do that." the tribrid tells him and he looks at her and rolls his eyes. "Oh yeah? What are you gonna do to stop me, Hope?" he asks tauntingly, after glancing at the desk, Hope looks back at him and answers, "This." and with a wave of her hand Kaleb's mind is trapped in the box with Alaric's.

As Lizzie and Lily lean against the car, waiting for the gas to fill up, MG speeds next to them. "It's an expensive car. You might want to go with the good stuff." he says, making both girls jump. "I am, you stalker." Lily tells him in an angry tone. "You might want to stop sneaking up on people when they're running for their lives." Lizzie tells him in the same tone her sister used as she takes the gas pump out.
"Let me guess. Locator spell?" Lizzie asks and Lily mumbles under her breath "I knew I should have cloaked us." "Witches gonna witch." MG tells the two, meaning that it was, in fact, a locator spell. "Well. Let's have it." Lily starts and Lizzie continues, "My grandio speech to go back and face my sister. But just know that I've had that conversation with myself, and Lily, a thousand times. I know that we're being selfish, but what am I supposed to do? Let you drag me back to the school so that I can die?"
"Okay, that's not why I'm here. Hope doesn't want anyone else to get hurt. The way I see it, that includes you two as well. Especially you two. So if you're running... I'm running too." MG tells the two and Lily sighs. "Well then we picked the wrong car to take. It's a two-seater, but maybe with a little magic, we can make it bigger on the inside like they do with the tents in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire when they go and watch the Quidditch world cup." she tells them with a small smile before going and getting in the driver's seat, doing the spell she said she would do.

"What are you doing in here?" Athena asks as she walks into Landon's room and sees Hope sitting on his bed. Hope looks at her with a confused expression, "What are you doing in here?" she asks and the baby vampire rolls her eyes. "Well since your girlfriend rejected me and basically told me to stay away from her or she'll kill me, I've been getting to know Landon after you crushed his heart like a grape. Now, your turn." Athena tells the tribrid defensively.
Before Hope could respond, Landon walks in. "Um... Hi... What are you doing in here Hope?" he asks as he sets a tray down. "Hey, do you have a second to talk, I kinda need a favor." Hope says but Landin doesn't answer her. "Um... um, where's Raf?" he asks as he sees his best friend no longer in their room. "He said he was going out." Hope tells him as she stands. "Okay, that weird." the Phoenix says as he points to were the magic tray was laying on Rafael's bed.
"Why? Is something wrong?" Athena asks, showing a somewhat caring tone. "Um... I don't know. Maybe. Um... You said you needed a favor?" he says, giving his attention to Hope. "Yes. I do. I need to figure out a way to protect Josie and the school. I kinda need your help with plan B." she tells him and he looks at her with a raised eyebrow, "What's wrong with plan A?" he asks, but before Hope could answer, the Necromancer came onto the intercom.
"Oh my God." Hope says as she recognizes the voice.
After the Necromancer announces Josie and Lizzie into the ring and Lizzie doesn't show, Josie takes the microphone. "Well. My selfish sisters didn't show up. Who am I gonna kill? Should it be... Vampires? Maybe... Witches... How about some werewolves?" Josie says as she looks at all the students who back up in fear. Just then, Hope walks in and flips into the ring. "Why not try all three?" she asks with a raised eyebrow and Josie fake pouts. "Sadly my sister isn't here... I guess you'll have to do." but this left the room confused since Josie only indirectly spoke about her slightly younger sister and didn't say her name.

"Are you sure that you're up for this? It isn't exactly what the Green Flashlight would do." Lizzie asks MG as he sits in the back of the now spacious sports car. "First of all, it's the Green Lantern, and you know it. Just you know way too many Hobbit insults to not be a secret Tolkien fan. A-and second, I'm done playing hero. Alyssa died... And I couldn't help her." MG says, and he starts to get quiet.
"Does Superman always save the day?" Lizzie asks and MG and Lily speak at once, "Pretty much." "No." when the two look at the new tribrid she shrugs, "What, he doesn't." she answers and MG starts to talk again, "But that's a comic book and this is real. I was stupid to think that I could make a difference." After a few seconds, Lizzie speaks up, "If you tell anyone that I read nerd porn, I will deny it. But if I hypothetically did, I would gather that the true test of a hero isn't being strong when it's easy." and then Lily finishes, know what her sister is getting at, "It's being strong when it's hard."
"If you both really believe that then you wouldn't need this map." MG tells the blonde sisters. "Well duh." Lily starts and she glances at him. "I have google maps." she says as she raises her phone in the air.
"Well we're not heroes either. Heroes are selfless and that cape doesn't really fit us well." Lizzie and Lily shrugs a little, "Eh... it fits me like when Mjölnir fits Captain America. Only sometimes."
But her comment goes unnoticed by the two in her car. "Then why haven't we left yet?" MG asks and glances at the two. "Damn it. Life was so much easier when I only cared about myself. And you lied to me. You definitely came to convince us to go back so that I can face Josie." Lizzie says in an annoyed tone. "When I told you that I would with you, I meant it. I just trusted that both of you would make the right decision." MG told the girls and they both yelled, "Double damn it!"
Just after that, Lily changed gears and looked her passengers, "Seatbelts, and hold on. It's about to go from zero to NASCAR real quick." she tells them before speeding off at, at least 100 miles an hour once the tires got on the road.

Just as Josie dropped Hope, Lizzie grabs onto Lily and siphons her, stopping the tribrid from falling to her death. "We should have mentioned this earlier, but black really isn't your color." Lily states as she speeds over and grabs Hope's hand, pulling down and away from the large spike she was hovering above. "You're late to your own funeral." Josie states and Lizzie retorts quickly, "No. I'm right in time to kick. your. ass."
"Are you okay? She didn't hurt you did she?" Lily asks her girlfriend quickly, looking her up and down for injuries. "No, I'm fine, Lil." Hope says softly, trying not to smile at the girl's cuteness as she worries given that it's not the best time.
"This stupid potion of yours is going to work right? Because it tasted like feet." Lizzie asks as she walks over to the two with MG. "It will, if you win. Thank you guys for coming back." Hope answers softly, not wanting to scare either of the blondes. "Like we had a choice." Lily states and Lizzie finishes, "Dirty trick, sending Jiminy Cricket after us." "You two would've done the right thing if I was here it not. Now, siphon me. You gotta be at full strength." he tells Lizzie.
Lizzie pulls MG into a kiss and siphons him as she does, making both tribrids raise their eyebrows. when Lizzie pulls away, she grabs Lily's hands and siphons her as well, knowing her magic would be stronger. "Just to be clear, that was for you, and not me. Just in case I lose." she tells the vampire and then she hugs her sister tightly, still siphoning her as she does, "In case this doesn't work out I want you to know that I love you. So, so much. And I would never forgive myself I ever hurt you, so I'm sorry if I ever did."
Lily hugs her back, trying not to crush her with vampire and her new wolf strength as she hugs Lizzie tightly. "I love you. Please don't die, I can't lose you too." Lily says as Lizzie pulls away and stops siphoning her. Hope quickly moves her arm out behind Lily as she gets a little light-headed from how much magic Lizzie took. But she didn't care. If it helped her sisters stay alive she would give them all the magic in her body until it was dust. "When this is over follow MG and I out okay?" Hope whispers to the Salvatore and Lily looks at her with a confused face. "Just do it." Hope says and glances at Josie, meaning she couldn't talk about it in front of her.
"Alright Sister Satan. Let's dance. But I'm not getting my merge on until I know that the rest of the school is safe." Lizzie tells her twin, and Josie snaps her fingers making the doors open. "Everyone out." she says and Jed makes everyone start walking out of the gym. "For the record! This huge act of selflessness fully cancels out all of my previous misdeeds!" Lizzie yells at the crowd making Lily laugh a little.
"Enough of this foreplay. It's time for the main event." the Necromancer says as he holds out a knife for Josie to take. "Oh, darling. The scent of death on you has gotten stronger! Killed lately have we?" he says as he looks at Lily, who glares and crosses her arms. "I can't believe I'm letting this happen!" she whisper yells as she battles with herself to not grab Lizzie and speed away again in order to keep both of her sisters alive.
"You have no idea how long I have been waiting for this." Josie says as she brings back why they're there and cuts her hand. "Apparently not long enough to think of something clever to say." Lizzie states monotonly as she lets Josie cut her hand as well before joining hands. "Sanguinem desimilus-" the twins start and Lily shakes her head. "No. Screw this, I am not losing either of you!" she says and shakily moves to speed at her sisters but Jose holds out her hand and uses magic to keep her other sister in her place so she can't stop the merge.
"Now, where were we?" Josie says before she and Lizzie begin the spell again. "Sanguinem desimilus, sanguinem generis fiantus. Sanguinem desimilus, sanguinem generis fiantus. Sanguinem desimilus-"
"You really think she can win?" MG asks Hope as they watch. "No. That is the entire reason I didn't want her to do this! Josie has who knows how much black magic in her. And now, thanks to you, she's going to die!" Lily yells at him angry at him and herself. As Lily turns and watches her sisters, the chanting gets louder and wind starts to move confetti everywhere, and the lights get brighter, so Hope whispers to MG, "If she can't, let's pray plan B works."
After more chanting, all the wind stops and the lights turn out. Soon after, Lizzie and Josie fall to the ground, and the spell holding Lily breaks, so she moved over to Lizzie as quickly as she can, her body still weak from the loss of magic. Lily doesn't even notice Alaric and Kaleb coming in, or MG grabbing Hope and speeding away. She's just worried about losing one of her sisters. She only notices her adoptive father when he takes Lizzie from her arms. "Dad-" she says in a shaky and teary voice as he caresses Lizzie's face.
"Don't cry, dad. One less mouth to feed." Josie says as she stands up, and Lily starts to cry. "No! Y-y-you promised this year w-wouldn't be like last year Lizzie... You h-have to wake up." she says as she sobs. And then all Lily sees is darkness.
(A/N)- I know, I know, I've been gone a while. The last part of the online classes killed me, I kept trying to take this test and it kept having issues so I would fail and then have to retake it. But, I am officially no longer in high school! Yay! Sadly though, last week I wanted to finish this chapter but had to adult. Ew. But now my car is insured and registered so yay.
As you may have noticed, I threw in one of my other OG characters that most of you hated bc she flirted with Lily. Athena! I wanted to throw her in a little bit every now and then and maybe have her in it more, idk yet, but I figured, though I don't like Landon, he deserves a love interest too, and now he won't be all over Hope. Hopefully.
