Lily's POV~
I woke to Hope trying to wiggle out of my grasp. Tightening my hold on her, I cuddle closer to her, resting my head in the crook of her neck. "Stop moving, you're a great pillow." I say groggily. I can feel Hope laughing lightly. "Lil, I have to get up. I'll cuddle you later." she says quietly and tries to move again.
This time, however, I start kissing her neck, making her freeze in her movements. "Five. More. Minutes." I say in between kisses, and finally, she gives in and sinks back in bed, making smirk before nuzzling my face back into her neck happily. "God you're such a tease." Hope comments, but by the tone she used I can tell she's smiling. "Yes. But I'm your tease." I reply and cuddle into her more, if that's even possible.
After the five minutes, I let her go. Hope gets up and goes God knows where, and I fall back asleep for a little while.
--------------------------------------------------------------
When I wake up again, it's cold in my room. Looking out the window, my eyes almost pop out, "It's snowing?" I ask myself.
Changing into black boots, jeans, a Salvatore shirt, and my back leather jacket along with a scarf, I go outside. Right after I walk out the front door, I'm pummeled with a snowball. Looking to where it was fired from, I smirk. "Oh... It's on Kaleb." I say before vamp speeding and throwing a snowball at him. I burst out laughing when it hits him in the face.
After about 15 minutes, I'm winning. I've hit Kaleb and a few other students more than they've hit me.
When I hear the door open again, I turn to look, and I see Hope coming out, but I also see Kaleb throw a snowball at Pedro, but he ducks. Speeding over to Hope, I move her out of the way just as the snowball was about to hit her. "Hi babe." I say with a smile and give her a small peck on the lips. "Uh, hi, uh, what's happening? Why is it snowing?" she asks me as she looks around at people making snowmen and riding sleds.
When I shrug, she walks over to Kaleb. "Kaleb, what the hell is going on?" she yells at him, and he walks over. "Don't be a Scrooge, Hope. It's Christmas." he answers with a smile. "No it's not it's October." she answers with a confused expression. "Christmas in July. Sort of." I tell her whilst nudging her. "Christmas is a state of mind. It's a feeling in the air. Now-" he pauses and wraps an arm around Hope's shoulders, "You feelin it?" he asks, and I respond before Hope can, "Definitely. Merry Christmas everyone."
--------------------------------------------------------------
Hope's POV~
"Definitely. Merry Christmas everyone." when Lily said that, I turned to her with a confused expression, only to see her smiling happily. She turns to me, kisses me quickly and then smiles again, "cheer up babe. It's Christmas." is all she says before walking back inside. "Wha- Lily wait!" I say before going after her.
"Come on, this obviously another monst-" I start to say only for Lily to interrupt me, "Another monster here from Malivore, yes I know, but, this monster didn't bring zombies, or stupid riddles, or people back from the dead, or gross slugs that invade our brains or a weird 80s game world with a homicidal Minotaur. This monster, brought a holiday. One that I love. So... I'm enjoying it at least until the monster shows up. Then we'll have to kill it, and Christmas in-almost July, is over."
As I'm about to respond, Dr. Saltzman walks towards us. "Dr. Saltzman, I need your help-" I pause in my sentence once I see him and Dorian laughing in ugly sweaters. "What are you wearing?" Lily asks next to me with her nose scrunched up. "Dorian had an extra one. Lucky me right?" he answers, but before either of us could respond Dorian speaks up, "No Ric, we'rethe lucky ones. Because Dr. Saltzman is gonna spend Christmas with us!"
"Hard pass. I'm out. I'm going to see my sisters." Lily says immediately after we get told about Dr. Saltzman staying here. Before any of us can try and stop her, she's gone.
--------------------------------------------------------------
"Lizzie!" I say walking into the twins' room. "Ugh, we get it Hope you're back. Now disappear again." Lizzie says and all but face plants back into her pillows after lifting her head to look at me. "Ah, you're still a bitch. Thank god." I say and walk further into her room. "What?" she asks whilst sitting up, and I just hug her.
"What's happening?" "I don't know. It's like everyone in the school is happy except for us, too happy. Like scary happy. Merry, even. They all think it's Christmas. And the snow probably doesn't help." At this, Lizzie gets up and looks out the window. "It's snowing? How?" "Uh, another monster I'm guessing."
"This is terrible news. It's freaking fall. Not winter. What am I gonna wear?" Lizzie states, walking to her dresser. As if on cue, Lily walks in with an outfit in her arms and she hands it to her sister. "I had a feeling you'd freak out. Over an outfit so here's one of mine." she says before coming and sitting next to me on Lizzie's bed. "That I guess, or something to travel in. I'm gonna need you to hit the road." I respond.
"You want me to quest for Frodo Baggins, don't you? I thought the monsters weren't after him now." when Lizzie says this, Lily groans in annoyance and lays down on the bed. "We don't know what they want or who they're even working for anymore. We just need to make sure Landon's safe." "Wouldn't he be safer away from here? If the monsters aren't after him anymore I say let him leave our lives for good. All he's brought is pain, both emotional and physical." Lily comments from her spot on the bed.
"Hope's right Little Star, he's one of us, the least we could do is make sure he's safe. So, let me get dressed and a quick locator spell, then it's off to Mordor I go." Lizzie tells her sister, which only results in Lily giving a small pout which looks absolutely adorable. "Ho, Ho, Ho!" Josie sings as she walks in, making Lizzie and I look at her, and Lily sits up and stares in shock at her sister.
"I came bearing gifts. More like a piece offering really." Josie says with a smile. "I thought that the four of us already made peace." Lizzie said questioningly as she looks between all of us. "Well, this whole school year, I have been really naughty. I have not been the supportive sister that I want to be. And then there's Landon-" she scoffs before continuing, "It was wrong of me to be jealous when his subconscious just chose you. Cookie" she says looking at me, and then I hear Lily scoff.
Leaning closer to Lizzie, I say simply, "Run." she nods her head and basically runs out of the room. Clearing my throat, I look at Josie, "What kind of cookie?" I ask, and before she can respond, Lily is sitting back down in her spot with the tray of cookies in her lap, one already in her mouth and another in her hand. When she notices my staring, she looks in my eyes before shrugging and continuing to eat another cookie and holding out the tray to me, silently asking if I wanted one.
When I decline, she shrugs again before getting up, handing Josie back the tray, kissing her cheek and walking away to God knows where.
--------------------------------------------------------------
In the library, I'm writing down possible monsters, and the goth coven won't stop singing stupid Christmas carols, making break my pencil. "I'm trying to work! So if you don't Fa la la la la leave, I'm going to give you all another piercing." I say as I hold up the broken pencil. They shuffle out of the room quickly.
"Woah, woah, woah, sounds like someone could use a little help getting in the spirit." Kaleb tells me as he walks to the table I'm at. "You wanna help, find me an Ax." I respond and he sits down. "So that's a neg on the nog?" he asks as he looks down at the bowl of eggnog he has. "I need to figure out what monster is making everyone so freaking merry. Then kill it." "Woah. That is naughty as hell Hope. I gotta do all I can to make it on Santa's nice list. Cause uh, I've been asking for this one thing every year and I haven't got it. But uh, I'm hoping that this year's the year... Oh. Yeah. You sure you don't want to hit this?" he asks me as he drinks the eggnog. "If I started hitting stuff now I might never stop." I answer flatly.
"Well then it sounds like we should spar later. It could be fun! I saw some wolves with candy cane sticks they were going to use to spar maybe we can use those?" Lily says as she sits across from me with a mug and some books. "Oh my god you are affected by the monster. You're going around being all happy, and eating cookies and drinking hot chocolate and-" "Hope. I drink hot chocolate all the time, it helps calm me. Matter of fact, here, " Lily says and passes me her drink. I look at her questioningly and she just smiles at me. Drinking a little bit of it, I pull away and gag a little. "Lily what the hell is in this?!" I ask as I feel my throat burn a little.
"Bourbon. I spiked it a while ago, but I knew if told you that, you wouldn't drink it. But since you did, it should help you relax a least a little while I help you figure this out." she responds while flipping through books at an inhuman speed. "There's got to be someone around here who is as miserable as I am." I ask myself quietly, then I get an idea.
--------------------------------------------------------------
"You're right. I am miserable. So why, would I help you?" Clarke says as he leans on the cell. "Ugh, believe me, I wish there was another option but you're the only one around here that's not... eating figgy pudding. Even Lily is out there being all merry." I respond aggravatedly. "Me being miserable must be why I'm immune to the Christmas spirit. What's your excuse?" Clarke says, not even looking at me.
I sigh before answering. "I used to love the holidays. But... I lost a lot of my family and everything changed. Everyone running around here all thankful for what they have..." "You realize what you're missing." Clarke finishes my thought for me, making me look at him. "What? If anyone can relate to being alone, it's me. I've never even had a Christmas... That's it. You want me to help you figure out your monster, let me eat, drink and be merry for once in my life. Go out with a bang. Now... Should old acquaintance be forgot?" After considering my options, I let him out.
"Wow. You really are the son of a bottomless pit," I say as Clarke stuffs his face and Dorian hands him a ribbon to write his wishes down. He turns me around to write on my back, making me roll my eyes. "Quit stalling. Tell me what I'm looking for and I run out of goodwill towards mudmen and there are unpleasant consequences." "Mm. My best guess. The Krampus." I turn around quickly and scrunch my eyebrows. "What the hell is a Krampus?"
"It's kind of like an anti-Santa. Santa brings out love and joy, the Krampus seeks our anger and hate. You've watched that movie with me, Hope." Lily says as she walks up to us as we walk to the fireplace. "Your little girlfriend is right. Santa Claus brings peace and joy, and the Krampus seeks out hate and anger." Clarke backs up what Lily just said. "We're literally surrounded by peace and joy." I retort and Clarke throws his wish in the fire. "Not for long." he says with a smile.
"What the hell did you just do?" I ask in an angered tone. "You should be proud of me Hope. I took a page out of your playbook. I found another loophole." Clarke goes to walk away, but he doesn't get very far because Lily grabs him by the throat and drags him to the library.
--------------------------------------------------------------
"Cloustrum. You're spelled inside this room. Now, what exactly did you wish for?!" I dam and as Lily throws Clarke to the ground harshly. "You'll find out soon enough. As you can tell, I've been a very bad boy this year-" before he can continue talking, Lily punches him, and use my powers to choke him. "Wrong answer." "Unpleasant consequences remember? Now what. Did. You. Wish-" "A savior." at this, I release the spell.
"You want to protect Landon right? Well, good news. The Krampus is coming to rescue me instead of going after him. And it'll kill anyone dumb enough to get in its way." "Not if we're ready for it." I tell him, and he just smiles. "By you, do you mean you and the idiot students drunk on Christmas cheer? Or the adults here that are literally drunk, believing Santa Claus is real? Good luck dampening any of their spirits enough to get them to help you. Even your girlfriend is all holly jolly. What hope do you have for the rest of the school?"
Before he can get another word in, he drops to the ground, unconscious. "Damn he's annoying. I guess it's a muppet family trait." turning to Lily, I raise an eyebrow, "Did you just-" "Just know him out? Yeah. His constant yapping was dampening my mood and we got everything we needed from him anyway. Now let's go kill a Krampus." she answers me, and skips away happily.
--------------------------------------------------------------
After talking some sense into everyone, we set a trap, and waited. Finally, it showed up, and tried to eat Clarke by wrapping its tongue around his neck. Throwing the sickle the Krampus has, I cut the tongue in half. "You must be the Krampus. I'm Hope. And... I find the holidays really stressful." then he vanished. Great.
After arguing with Clarke, again. We set another trap, and Clarke left to throw himself in the portal.
When the Krampus comes back, Lily and Kaleb tie him up in lights and Alaric shoots him in the heart. "Boom. That's how you kill a Krampus. Right in the heart." Lily says with a smile as she walks up to me, wrapping an arm around my waist.
"Coco?" Dorian asks Alaric, and he accepts. "Sure, why not. It's Christmas." This makes me looks at him with wide eyes. "Wait you two are still merry? If it's dead then why hasn't this lunacy stopped?" Before my question can be answered, the bag the Krampus was carrying started moving. "Everyone stay back. Whatever's in there is coming out." I say as the bag keeps moving.
As if she didn't hear me, Lily let's go of me and starts walking to it, making grab her by her waist and pull her to me. "LILY! You literally have superhuman hearing I know you heard me." I yell at her as I keep my arms around her to prevent her from moving. "What? It can't be that back if it's spreading joy and cheer! What if it's an elf!" she retorts whilst smiling and bouncing excitedly.
Suddenly, hands pop out, and the bag falls revealing none other than...
"Ho ho ho ho! Who wouldn't be merry on this special night!"
My eyes go wide. Glancing at Lily, I see her face has the same expression as mine does. "Its the magic of Christmas Miss Mikaelson. It's the most wonderful time of the year." "Santa?" I ask with a smile. "I can't believe you're real" Lily comments next to me. "Of course you can Lillian. After all, seeing is believing." "Uh-" Alaric raises his hand, "yes?" Santa asks him. "How did you know their names?" "Because everyone was a child once. Besides, a name like Alaric is pretty tough to forget. Ho ho ho ho"
After most of us start laughing with him, the Krampus turns out not to be dead, and then Santa starts to fight him. "Alright 50 bucks on Santa! Who wants to take the bet!" Lily shouts next to me, making me hit her shoulder lightly "Lily! You can't bet on Santa Claus!" "Why not?" she asks with a confused and I just look at her and smile. "You're lucky you're cute."
When I say that her mouth drops. "Hey! I'm-" "Yes I know babe, you're very smart, I was kidding." I interrupt her before looking back at the fight.
"You should've let me bet." Lily told me with a pout as we walked to Alaric's office, making me laugh. "I'll make it up to you later, I promise. But, let me make this one phone call first." I reply lightly and she nods her head before walking out to do I don't know what.
--------------------------------------------------------------
After hanging up with Clarke, I walk out to the front of the school, and find Lily there, looking at the stars. "Stargazing Little Star?" I ask as I walk up an wrap my arms around her from behind, resting my head on her shoulder and look at the stars as well.
I see her smile before she turns her head to face me, "yeah, I was waiting for you. I got you something for Christmas." before I could ask what, she takes my hand and drags me to the woods, there, I see a small bonfire set up.
"Now, I may not have spent every Christmas with you, but I did spend one. And I know your family tradition is to make a bonfire, write your wishes, and burn them for luck." "Lily, I don't-" I go to protest, not really wanting to do it, but she interrupts me again, "I also know, that since you used to love the holidays, but not since what happened to your parents and your uncle.-" this time it's my turn to interrupt her, "I don't see how you can be so happy at times like this, you lost you dad too. I always wanted to ask how you do it."
With that, she holds up a hand, speeds away, before coming back seconds later with two Japanese lanterns, unlit. "That's because, since my dad died, my mom taught me this thing that she and her friends used to do for people they lost.-" she pauses and hands my lantern. "Every night on Christmas, she and I would come out into the woods, to this very spot, and light a lantern for the people that we lost. We would write our wishes, and write one for them, put it on the lantern, light it up, and release it, almost like you're giving them a Christmas present. That way, even though they can't be here in front of you, they can still be a part of Christmas with us from afar."
Hearing this brings a small smile to my face. "Here, write one for yourself and one for them." Lily tells me whilst handing two small pieces of paper and a pen. On one, I write a wish for my dad. I wish my dad finds peace. And on the other, I write one for me. I wish for more happy moments like this one. After I'm done, I fold them up and look at Lily. "now what?" I ask and she replies, "Now, you take the wish you wrote for your family, and tie it to the inside of the lantern, there's a little bar inside that will hold it in place."
Doing what she said, she pulls out a lighter, lights hers before passing the lighter to me, making me do the same. "This is for my dad. Merry Christmas." she says lightly before releasing the lantern into the sky. "This is for my Uncle Elijah... my mom... And my dad." with that, I release mine too.
After watching them float away, we burn our wishes in the bonfire and just stare at it for a while. "Thank you." I say breaking the silence. "For this, I mean." Lily looks at me with an adoring smile and wraps her arms around me. "Merry Christmas Hope." "Merry Christmas Lily." with that, we both lean in for a sweet and gentle kiss.

Lily's POV~
Once Hope and I went back inside, she went to get something to eat, and I went to my room. When I got there, there a wrapped present on my bed. Looking at the card, it reads To: Lillian, From: Santa.
Opening in, it's a list of ingredients and where to find them. Looking under the list, I see an old looking paper. Picking it up and reading it, I see it's a spell.
"Oh my god."
