Chapter 145 At the end of the night, Kage surprisingly gave Astrid a ride home. It came as a shock to her when heâd passed the offer and even if she had been drunk, she wouldnât have said No.
As they headed to the car, Cindy angrily approached them. But she didnât even get close enough to Kage to ask her questions as Raphael got in her way and handled her questions. Astrid couldnât help but smile. It felt so unreal.
For the first time, she wished the drive to her home was longer just so she could spend more time with Kage in the car, despite the fact that he hardly spoke to her.
Eventually, they reached the gates of the mansion, and she thanked him greatly.
âWe should have dinner some time,â Kage said, although the words came out forced than intentional.
Astrid hardly noticed as her cheeks reddened all over. âUm... Sure, Iâd love that.â
They exchanged a few more words before she left the car and hurried into the house.
Her heart felt like it might burst from all the emotions she felt. Kage Hawkins asked her to dinner! Just when she thought the night was going to be the worst for her.

The grandchildren werenât much surprised when Galen called for a family breakfast the next morning. After Sylvieâs display at the event, they had seen it coming.
Sylvie was so nervous as she left her room, heading downstairs for breakfast. On the way, she met Evie who surprisingly congratulated her.
âYou were amazing yesterday,â Evie added, a hand tucked into the pocket of her jeans short.
Sylvie wasnât expecting it.
O âUh...Thanks, I guess. But I thought youâd be mad at me.â She nervously licked her bottom lip.
âMad at you about what?â
âEveryone else thinks I ruined your sisterâs relationship.â
âOh, please!â Evie laughed, rolling her eyes.
Sylvie had never seen someone so unbothered before.
âJune has always been a bitch, and she got engaged to a dickhead. You think I didnât notice heâd, indeed, being throwing advances at you? How were you to know the couple were both cheats?â
God. For the first time, someone else in the family supported her! She shared the same opinion as her. Sylvie had never felt more relieved before.
âAnyway, Iâm not talking about June or her ex right now. Iâm talking about you. You did well last night.â
A genuine smile spread across Sylvieâs face. âThank you, Evie.â
In fifteen mindless, everyone was seated at the table with Galen arriving last. June and Astrid continuously threw death glares her way the whole time from their various seats. If murder wasnât illegal, Sylvie was sure sheâd have been dead already.
âI called for this meeting for an important reason,â Galen began, after the usual greetings had gone round and some of the 1/3 14:49 Wed, Dec 4 G Chapter 145 people had began eating already.
Since he arrived, Sylvie had been more concerned at his face than what he had to say.

The man looked a little pale, obviously from his health. Although, since he left the hospital, heâd been heeding to the doctorâs advice and taking as much rest as possible. But it was obvious his health was still deteriorating.
âToday, I want to openly commend Sylvieâs performance at the En Vogue Affair.â He shifted his gaze to Sylvie. âWhat you did was outstanding, darling. When Ruby had told me to give you a chance, I was initially doubtful but decided to give it a try, and I am so glad I did because you didnât disappoint me.
I have been getting a lot of calls and messages from people admiring you as my granddaughter. As at this morning, the company has already recorded a total of fiftyâthree clients coming from En Vogue alone.â
Sylvie gasped. What? Fiftyâthree? Only this morning.
Fiftyâthree clients from Em Vogue Affair couldnât be compared to regular clients. It was a life changing experience.
âAnd they all came because of Sylvieâs exceptional design,â he continued. âThey want similar dresses made by her something bigger. This week is about to be a really busy week for you, Sylvie, because there are a lot of people yo meet up with.â He chuckled.
Galen freaking Cheng chuckled!
Was it a dreamâSylvie wondered.
ven ced to âNow, to the best part.â He adjusted in his seat. âQueen Evandra of Astradelle reached out to me this morning. She said for her birthday dress, she wants you to be the one to take care of it.
Eyes and mouths flew open at the table. Heads turned in shock, quick breaths were drawn.
âWhat!?â Astrid shrieked, stopping herself in time from thumping the table.
âThatâs... Thatâs ridiculous!â June snapped, her own eyes flaring wider than Astridâs.
Juneâs mother cleared her throat, shifting uncomfortably in her seat. âUm....Dad, I thought they were all supposed to make her dress, and the best will get chosen?â
âYes!â June added immediately. âIâve been working on mine for so long now and actually almost done. Iâve put so much effort in it, grandpa.â
âIt doesnât make any sense that she gets to be chosen without mine being given a try, at least. I really put so much effort in.this, Grandpa and was positive Iâd have won.â Astrid added.
June rolled her eyes, her anger palpable. âOh, donât be ridiculous. Even in times like this, you still think yourself the best.â
Astridâs heated gaze shifted to her. âWell, would you rather I think myself a cheat, June?â
Juneâs eyes burned brighter with rage, angry veins popping on her forehead. âI swear, Iâll kill you! Iâll kill if you say one more word about it!â
âOne more word about what? About the fact that you slept with someone in a car while engaged to another? I know I havenât said this yet, but that was a really low blow, âsister. A very disgusting one.â
With a shout of frustration, June picked up her fork on the table and threw it at Astrid without thinking.
âJune!â Astridâs mother yelled.
But it was too late as the fork hit Astrid hard in the face, and with how painful it was, Astrid knew it was definitely going to 2/8 14:49 Wed, Dec 4 Chapter 145 leave a mark.
Astrid gasped, rising to her feet. âYou bitch! You have a death sentence, donât you?â
E Sylvieâs mouth hung open in awe. The scene before her was like a dream, and it was even more shocking how composed their grandfather was, watching them.
