Aizawa looked on from the other side of the room, making sure his students were okay as Recovery Girl checked them out. Uraraka said her memory was fuzzy after she got stuck and Kaminari said he thought he saw Midoriya free her. Eraserhead had stated that he was the one to free her and carry both of them to safety. The broken pipeline and possible hallucinating effect of the gas cleared the possibility of Izuku being there, making it seem like a misunderstanding on Denki's side.
And it would stay like that, at least until Midoriya gave him a decent explanation. Because next to the two students that almost drowned, laid the problem child himself. He was found unconscious inside the blizzard zone. Todoroki had explained how they got separated from each other and Asui had to be warmed up instantly to wake her up from her hibernation. These two zones weren't the only ones with malfunctions though... The fire in the fire zone had gone out of control, causing severe burns on the students Thirteen was supervising.
They stopped the training exercise after that, not moving on to other zones but finding out they were showing irregularities as well. Nezu had set up an investigation to make sure this was a technical issue instead of a set up by someone else with foul intentions. The burns were already treated and most students had gone home already. All but the three in the nurse's office and this one stubborn ash blonde...
Shouta glanced aside, his eyes landing on Bakugou. The teen was sitting in the small waiting area, playing some game on his phone or texting or whatever.
"Ah, you haven't gone home either, I see" All Might stated as he walked up to them. Katsuki glanced up, giving the hero a glare before looking back down at his screen. Strange...
"I'm not leaving until I know all my students are alright" Eraserhead sighed.
"Well, then I'm sure you're glad to know these two are cleared to go home" Recovery Girl smiled.
"I don't think you'll experience any lasting effects, but if you have headaches or dizzy spells in the following week, please come back to let me check it out"
"Yes of course, thank you Recovery Girl" Uraraka smiled, bowing to show respect.
"Thank you for your care" Kaminari said, also bowing down before the two of them left the nurses office.
"You should go home as well, young Bakugou! We don't want to worry your family-"
"They know I'm staying until Deku wakes up" Katsuki interrupted him.
"I'm not leaving without him"
"Just let him be, it's not worth the trouble" Aizawa sighed, placing a hand on All Might's shoulder and turning him around, going on a walk away from the nurses office.
Shouta knew his colleague was obsessed with that boy and if he knew his suspicion about Midoriya having multiple quirks was true... Aizawa wasn't sure what All Might would do, to be honest. He wouldn't throw his student under the bus before knowing what exactly was going on, that's for sure.
"We've never seen anything quite like this... Someone might've sabotaged the joint with all the malfunctions we observed today" Aizawa sighed.
"Do you think they're after you again?"
"Who says it wasn't just a technical issue?" All Might asked, making Aizawa frown. Normally Toshinori was the first to throw theories around about sabotage and ill intentions... Don't tell him-
"All Might, please tell me you don't have anything to do with what happened today?" Aizawa sighed, dragging a hand down his face.
"Eraserhead!" Toshinori gasped, placing a hand over his chest.
"I would never intentionally put the safety of our students at risk!"
Aizawa frowned, glaring at the pro hero.
"And Midoriya?"
There was a small silence, telling Shouta more than enough.
"Look... I just... I wanted to lower the temperature in the dome a tiny little bit-" All Might started, making Eraserhead glare at him with pure red eyes.
"-I just wanted to get a reaction out of him! I swear I never wanted to put any of the students in any danger-"
"Asui almost died!" Aizawa hissed, glaring at Toshinori.
"The only reason she is still alive is because Todoroki kept her somewhat warm with his quirk! And Midoriya was passed out in those conditions for who knows how long! Kaminari and Uraraka almost drowned, All Might! Do I need to continue?!"
Luckily school was already done so there were no students in the hallways anymore and most teachers had already gone home or on patrol.
"Katsuki, though, had heard everything. Not only that, he was also recording it on his phone. This would be useful in case Aizawa sensei was going to be difficult... He didn't know for sure whether or not his teacher saw anything, but he did cover up dunce face's statement about Deku so the chances are high if you ask him.
"Eraser, please... I never meant to put the others in danger, I swear-"
"You shouldn't be willing to put even one student in danger!" Aizawa hissed.
"You don't have any proof to back up your ridiculous theory so now you're just going to force it out, is that it?! What if you're wrong All Might?! What if Midoriya is just some innocent kid with a dream to become a hero and your disillusion has traumatized not only him but his whole class! MY class!"
In Shouta's fury he almost forgot that Midoriya did have multiple quirks, that he had seen it himself. At that moment he didn't care. This man put his students in danger while he was supposed to protect them! Nobody touches his students, you hear?!
"I... I truly am sorry" All Might breathed.
"And I will discuss this matter with Nezu"
"Yes you will! Now get to it! I don't want to see your face right now!" Aizawa hissed, still glaring down the pro hero. All Might needed to leave before he'd do something he'd come to regret. The blonde nodded, understanding his reaction, and quickly walked away from the black ray of sunshine. Aizawa calmed himself down again, or at least tried to, before going back to the nurses office. Katsuki quickly shut his recording down, putting his phone away as he glanced at his homeroom teacher.
"What did you hear?"
"Enough" Katsuki answered as he got up from his seat.
"If word gets out about All Might doing this shit..."
He didn't finish his sentence, but Aizawa knew what he was implying. No matter how powerful the number one hero was, he wouldn't recover from that fall. The Hero Commission will take his title away and he'll be looked down on as a villain for endangering kids like that.
People will start distrusting heroes, because if even All Might is capable of doing something like that, to what length would others go? Hero society would never be the same again... Which meant that even though All Might deserved nothing more than to be exposed, Shouta couldn't allow it. Katsuki was about to speak up again, but was interrupted by a soft groan. Recovery Girl looked up and walked over to Midoriya's bedside as the two men watched the green head wake up.
Izuku groaned, rubbing his head. Man... He shouldn't have pushed himself so far... Using so many different quirks all after one another... How long was he passed out for? He glanced down, seeing he was still wearing his hero uniform. Huh...
"How are you feeling dear?" Recovery Girl asked.
"Tired" Izuku mumbled, closing his eyes again.
"My head's pounding... What happened..?"
"You passed out in a fucking snow storm is what happened" Katsuki hissed, walking up to his childhood friend.
"Oh... Right, training" Izuku muttered, tilting his head towards Kacchan.
"Are Todoroki and Asui okay?"
"They're fine" Aizawa answered, now also standing at his bed.
"That's good" Izuku smiled, thanking Recovery Girl as she handed him some medicine for his headache.
"You're lucky you got away with just a cold, it could've been much worse" she stated, writing something down on paper.
"Here, let your parents go get this medication and stay home for at least the following three days, you hear me?"
"O-okay" Izuku responded, taking the paper as he sat up in bed. A cold huh? Well, he did feel like he was burning up so...
"You're one reckless idiot, you know that?" Katsuki groaned, his arms crossed as he watched his friend get up from the bed.
"Come on, let's get you home. Auntie Inko is worried enough as it is"
"I'll walk you out. Midoriya's belongings are still in the classroom and the doors get locked after school hours" Aizawa said, fishing his keys from his pocket. Izuku hummed, trying not to panic. He knew why their homeroom teacher was walking with them... Which conversation was about to follow...
Did Kacchan know Aizawa saw him? He probably suspected it at least. Did Aizawa sensei know Kacchan was in on this secret? Maybe he had a hunch about it as well... Maybe his homeroom teacher already told the rest of the faculty and this was all just some set up? A trap? Should he risk using a quirk to detect other people's presence nearby when he was already in such a weakened state? Would he even be able to fight them off if push comes to shove? And even if he was able to escape, his life would never be the same again...
"Could you leave the room for a minute, Bakugou? There is something I'd like to discuss with Midoriya in private" Aizawa sensei asked as they arrived at the classroom. Izuku froze up and Katsuki simply glared at their homeroom teacher.
"There is nothing Kacchan can't know" Izuku answered, quickly grabbing onto Kacchan's arm. He didn't want to go through this alone, he wanted to have Kacchan there with him. It clicked inside Shouta's head, just like a switch had flipped inside Katsuki's.
"He saw you, didn't he?" the ash blonde asked, his tone not giving away how he felt about this situation.
"You are aware of Midoriya's actions during rescue training?" Aizawa asked, raising a brow. He didn't expect two of his students to be involved in this situation. So far All Might had only been suspicious of Midoriya, not of Bakugou. Did the explosive teen house multiple quirks as well?
"Kacchan knows everything" Izuku said quickly, keeping his gaze cast towards the ground.
"H-he isn't like me though! I-I swear I mean no harm, Aizawa sensei... I-I just... Being a hero has always been my dream, that's the only reason I'm here. P-please don't expel me..!"
Tears had welled up in his eyes, his body trembling as he silently cried. All the pressure of keeping his secret and the stress he was living through due to All Might got to him.
Katsuki quickly pulled him in a hug, trying to comfort him as he rubbed his back.
"A-All Might is going to kill me... I-I'm gonna die, Kacchan. I'm gonna die. I'm dead" Izuku sobbed, words flowing out in a panic, making Aizawa's eyes widen. He had reviewed what happened at the USJ today and concluded that Midoriya wasn't an immediate threat. He came and rescued his classmates even though it exposed what he is really capable of.
Normally villains didn't save lives, you know? Certainly not with such high risks for them. That's why he was willing to hear the kid out in the first place. But now... Hearing and seeing this... It made him realise just that. This was a kid. A child that was terrified by the thought of All Might alone... So Midoriya knew the number one hero was after him... A child being scared of heroes, afraid they'll hurt him... Where is this society headed?!
"All Might doesn't know, I didn't tell him" Aizawa said, trying to reassure Midoriya and help him calm down again.
"No but that bastard did try to kill him" Katsuki hissed, making Izuku tense up.
"The malfunctions today..." Izuku whispered, his eyes wide in disbelief.
"A-All Might caused it? T-to hurt me..? B-but... But our classmates- They- And I-I-"
He stammered, trailing off.
"I'm a danger to everyone around me" Izuku sobbed.
"People got hurt and it's my fault!"
"Oi! That's not true so stop spouting that bullshit! All Might is the one who sabotaged the USJ, this is all his fault!" Katsuki hissed.
"Midoriya, I can make sure your contact with All Might is limited to the absolute minimum" Aizawa explained, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Just... Explain yourself to me. What is your quirk exactly?"
"I-I..." Izuku choked out, wiping away his tears and recomposing himself.
"My quirk is called All For One, the previous user handed it down to me so I could become a hero even though I'm born quirkless"
Eraserhead stared at his student for a moment, his brain struggling to process what he was just told. All For One... As in the villain mastermind that All Might is trying to uncover..?
"All Might has One For All, it's also transferable" Izuku continued.
"If I'm right, he used to be quirkless too, j-just like me... B-but my d- my mentor, All For One, he... He is trying to redeem himself, Aizawa sensei. He's trying to be better, I swear! It's why he gave up his quirk a-and I'm able to be h-here a-and I just... I-I can't tell you who he is, so please don't ask that of me!"
"I won't... For now" Aizawa answered.
"This quirk...is a lot of responsibility. I understand your attitude towards All Might much better now"
"I-it's not that I think he isn't a great hero or anything!" Izuku quickly exclaimed.
"No, I know, I get it" his teacher nodded, looking between the two boys.
"I'll handle this, okay? Just promise me that you'll stick to the quirk you're registered with"
"For real? You're... You're okay with it?" Katsuki asked, rather surprised.
"You want me to not be okay with it?" Aizawa asked, raising a brow.
"No, no, no, I... It's just, I didn't expect it, is all" Katsuki shrugged.
"I'm taking care of this now, but don't go around causing trouble. I have my eyes on you and will see if you're lying to me, understand? I'm trusting you...for now... You're dismissed"
"Of course, thank you Aizawa sensei" Izuku replied, bowing to show respect. Katsuki grumbled, bowing as well before they grabbed Midoriya's stuff and got the hell out of there. Aizawa sighed, dragging a hand down over his face. All For One... Ugh, what kind of mess did he get himself involved in this time?
