T"I think I liked the movie. It wasn't that bad" Jake tells me.
"Next time, I will watch yours" I tell him.
He grins.
"Which kind of movies do you like the most?" I ask him curious to know.
"Horror" he says. "What about you?"
"I like horror too and romantic ones" I reply.
"Every girl loves romantic movies" he scoffs
"So what?" I reply.
"You girls always want to hear 'And They Lived Happily Ever After" he replies and I punch him playfully.
"Its not that way all the time" I protest.
"It is" he retaliates.
"No! Its not!" I reply.
"Okay! If you say so! But you're not changing my mind" Jake spits and I groan.
"Believe whatever you want" I say and he ignores my jab.
"So are you driving? Am still drunk" Jake says and I roll my eyes. He laughs.
"You are a good driver Nikki!" He taunts.
"I'm not driving! You're okay now" I say to him.
"Oh no! I'm still drunk! Besides I really loved the ride" he says and hangs the car keys in my face using his fingers.
I growl at him and snatch it. But I really liked the idea of driving his car.
"Make sure you don't run over any old ladies at the zebra crossing" he says and I can't help but laugh. I punch him on the arm and he laughs.
"Let's go then! We are running late" he jeers and I walk out of the front door. We took the elevator together and we arrive at the parking lot. Its littered with cars.
I sat at the driver's seat and Jake sat beside me at the passenger seat. I moved the car out of the parking lot into the road. Then I drove on.
"Do you know the way to the amusement park?" Jake asks me.
"Of course! I've lived here all my life"I scoff.
" okay"he says.
I press on the accelerator. The car moves steadily on the road. Its a long time I actually drove a car! The last time I did, I ended up smashing my dads Mercedes against a tree. Since then I haven't driven a car. That was like a few months ago.
But today am here driving Jake's car.
"So you can drive? Why don't you have a car?" Jake questions.
"Because I'm not really a good driver" I reply.
"But its not bad as it seems!" He says with a small smile.
"I'm trying my best not to smash your car"I reply
He looks on the road with a grin.
" Watch out for that pole!"Jake yells and I take my gaze off him and press on the brakes. My breath caught in my throat.
The car stops and the pole just stands in front of us.
"What were you doing? We could have had an accident!!!" Jake yells.
"I don't know! I was just driving" I yell back confused.
He sighs.
"Just be careful next time okay?" He says calmly.
I nod and drive away from the pole into the road.
I was glad we finally reached the amusement park. I parked the car and Jake and I got down. We held hands.
"So what are we doing first" I ask him.
"Hmm.... Let's go to the photo booth and then we will head for the roller coaster" He says.
"Okay! We better be quick because eleven already! I need to get home by twelve" I reply.
"Okay"
We head to the photo booth and enter. We take loads of crazy pictures together.
"I'm keeping these pictures" Jake tells me the moment we came out of the photo booth.
"They are so nice! We looked so cute together" I compliment.
"I'll take a few copies" I say.
"Sure"he says and hands me three copies. He takes five copies. I glare at him.
He smiles and I roll my eyes.
We go to the roller coaster area. The line is so long!
" I think we should hang around a bit. Maybe when we comeback, the line will be short"Jake suggests.
"You think?" I ask him.
He shrugs making him look like a puppy. I can't help but giggle. He was so cute.
"Okay let's wait for a while" I say to him.
"Let's go get ourselves some refreshments" He offers and I nod in agreement. We walked to a cotton candy seller.
"Please I want to mega cotton candies" Jake says politely to the man.
He nods and makes two. One was pink and the other blue.
He gave the pink one to Jake and the blue one to me. I was about to pay but Jake paid for it and I got angry with him for doing that but he just shrugged.
"Can we exchange cotton candies? The pink makes me look weird" Jake says and I laugh.
"Well, am so sorry! Pink isn't my colour" I respond and he gives me a pouty frown.
"Are you doing this because I paid for them?" He asks me and I giggle.
"Yeah! Next time you will allow me to pay" I say
"But all the same!" I say and swap our cotton candies.
A bright smile appears on his face.
"Thank you! I feel better now! I don't know why the man gave me the pink one" Jake says and eats the blue cotton candy in his hands.
I eat my pink cotton candy. We walk around. I check on the time on my watch. It was thirty eight minutes past eleven.
"Do you think we could still go on the ride cos my grace period is almost over" I tell Jake.
Worry flashes on his face and he looks at the roller coaster area.
The line was still long.
"I really wanted to go on that ride with you! But we could come another time" Jake says with a small smile.
"Yeah! I really had a great time with you today! And I'm glad you are happy now! But you still need to talk to your dad" I say to him and he frowns.
"I don't know if I can face him! But I'll try" Jake says and I smile.
He touches my cheek and I swat his arm.
"Your eyes are so beautiful" he compliments and I blush.
"Keep your compliments to yourself Winters"I scold and earn a chuckle from him. I give him the car keys. I don't wanna drive even though I liked driving his car but I don't wanna smash it.
I hop into the passenger seat and Jake sat at the driver's seat. He moves the car out of the park. I looked at the roller coaster area once more. The line hadn't reduced the least bit. I sigh. I really wanted to go on that ride!
Jake enters the road and we were on our way home. I continued to eat my cotton candy.
" So when would we see each other again?"Jake questions and I think about it.
"Next week Sunday maybe?" I say. We were becoming fast friends and we enjoyed each other's company.
"Okay! We'll meet next week Sunday" Jake confirms.
"Thanks for lighting up my world Nikki!" Jake says and my stomach flutters.
"You're welcome" I reply with a smile.
"So Nikki! I was thinking" Jake begins and I urge him to continue.
"Which school do you attend?" He asks and I my heart skips a beat. I knew this day would come but I didn't know it would come this soon! The cotton candy in my mouth suddenly tastes like dust but I swallow it.
"Errrr....." I drawl nervously.
Jake urges me.
"Kentwood High" I say quickly and fill my mouth with cotton candy to prevent me from spilling more.
"I am a newbie there! What a coincidence" Jake spills.
I swallow the cotton candy in my mouth.
"That's great Jake! We would be seeing each other more often" I reply.
"Well yeah but I didn't see you this week at school! What happened?" Jake questions and I feel a pit of fire in my stomach.
"I Errrr.....got suspended" I reply a little bit ashamed and shy.
"Wait a minute Nikki! So you are really the alpha everyone is talking about?" Jake blurts and I'm shocked.
I laugh nervously.
"What are you talking about? Me? Alpha?" I reply and laugh.
"Don't play dumb with me Nikki! I know you are the leader of a gang! Kate told me! And you beat her up for no reason! That's why you got suspended" Jake spills and my heart races. I feel like I'm about to have a heart attack.
"Kate lied to you! She provoked me that's why I beat her up! And what's wrong if I'm an alpha? You are overreacting" I retaliate.
Jake sighs.
"What did Kate do before you beat her up that way?" He demands.
I chuckle.
"Are we seriously discussing this?" I ask him
He ignores my jab.
"She provoked me! She went too far! She burst my bubble" I yell.
"You are saying the same thing in different forms! Tell me exactly what she told you! Word after word" Jake spits. His tone was serious but his eyes were still on the road.
"Well she insulted my mother saying that she......." I trail off.
"She......" Jake urges.
"She couldn't train me to become a well mannered lady but an I'll mannered freak" I say with hurt evident in my voice.
Jake is in shock and he parks the car.
"Kate said that to you?" He asks
"Yes she did" I reply.
"That's why I beat her up" I say. Anger rushes through my veins. I hate that nasty harlot!
"She's wrong! You are the best well mannered lady I've ever come across!" Jake says and I smile.
"Your mother did a great job" He adds.
"Are you saying this to make me feel better?" I ask him.
"No! Its the truth! I wouldn't lie about something like that" he says and grabs my wrist.
"You are a nice person Nikki" he says and touches my cheeks. I feel his breath on my face.
He gives me a small smile and I look at his lips. He leans in and kisses my lips. His tongue goes deeper sending shivers down my spine. His mouth tasted like cotton candy and mint. His lips were so soft and firm.
We break apart and we stare at each other breathless. My hormones were raging. His pupils had dilated already. I looked at his wounded knuckles and fingers.
"What happened to your fingers?" I ask him just to forget what happened between us like three seconds ago.
"Oh! I just wounded myself by punching the wall in my apartment to feel better" He replies a bit embarrassed and shy.
He drives out of our parking space. I think about what happened. It was so different from Aaron's own.
The ride is silent and Jake keeps his eyes fixated on the road.
