Imogen could feel her blood boiling; her daughter's disregard was enough to make her

unborn baby, and Francis are a family. But you've forgotten that I was the one who stood by you

through thick and thin! If you can’t do it, I'l make my own way without your meddling.”

Fuming, Madeline slammed the door. She was ready to storm out, but Imogen’s hand shot out,

gripping her wrist, “What do you think you're doing? I'm warning you, Nolan's. engagement to

Regina is set in stone. Don't you dare rock the boat now. We can't afford. the fallout.”

Madeline simply rolled her eyes, “You're too afraid to take a stand, always tiptoeing. What

give me a wealthy home or a noble status. Since you can't provide those, I'll just have to get them

on my own.

Imogen was at a loss for words. Her daughter's audacity knew no bounds. Letting go of her grip,

she stepped back, her voice trembling with a mix of anger and resignation, “Fine, if you're so
