Chapter 2529
But no matter what, the results of Alyssa's emergency treatment were still unknown, and Dean was
at the hospital by her side. How could these two young people just abandon their duties because
they were heartbroken?
They had to step up and take care of the family now.
âDo you think I'm not worried?â Ivy's eyes reddened, and she couldn't bear to go on, fearing that
one more word would reveal the quiver in her voice.
She never wanted to think about it, but if she hadn't had that extra drink, maybe Alyssa wouldn't
have come upstairs to check on her. Could it be that none of this would have happened?
Alyssa and Magnolia had been having a great time chatting earlier that day. It was her birthday, and
it was so rare to have all her old friends gathered together.
They had thrown such a lively birthday party in hopes that Alyssa would have a great time, but it
had ended like this. If they had known it would turn out this way, they might as well have had a
quiet family dinner together. But what's done is done, and there was no room for regret now. Ivy
just wanted to figure out why it happened.
Balfour couldn't help but pull Ivy into his arms when he saw her like this. Both of them were
struggling. He had been caught up in his own grief and hadn't considered that Ivy was drowning in
guilt just like him.
âI'm sorry,â he murmured.
Ivy shook her head continuously in his embrace, âIt's not your fault.â
She wanted to reassure Balfour not to blame himself. This accident was unforeseen, and
neither of them had wanted things to turn out this way.
Mara, sitting behind them, clenched her mouse tightly and finally couldn't help but slam down the
cup she was holding, startling both of them.
Balfour turned around with a frown, his gaze filled with displeasure as he said, âIf you're tired, I can
arrange for you to rest in the guest room.â
Mara had already put on a harmless expression.
âI'm not tired. It just seems that Alyssa might have really fallen by accident.â
Olivia had been silent the whole time, just observing, but suddenly she interjected, âWhy? How do
you know she fell by herself?â
Maraâs speech halted, and she turned her face, angrily eyeing Olivia.
Then Ivy spoke, calm and measured, âYeah, not only does Olivia want to know, but I'm also curious
how you came to that conclusion.â.

Chapter 2529
Under the scrutiny of the three, Mara's face slowly flushed, and she stuttered, pointing at the
computer screen, âWe've been looking for evidence for so long and haven't seen anyone push
Alyssa. Isn't that proof enough? I know everyone's heartbroken, but that doesn't mean you can
accuse someone unjustly because of your grief.â
Olivia tilted her head as if she genuinely didnât understand and continued, âIf no suspect has been
found, how is that accusing someone unjustly? We might not have found evidence of someone
pushing Alyssa, but we haven't found evidence of her falling on her own either, right? The most
reliable thing would be to wait for Alyssa to wake up and ask
her."
Mara frowned deeply, thinking no one saw her expression, but Ivy saw it all clearly.
Mara sneered inwardly, âThat old hag better be lucky to even wake up!
"Mara, do you disagree with what Olivia is saying? Or do you have another opinion?â
