As Ivy talked, a wave of anger surged through her. She felt a deep sense of injustice on
behalf of Tessa.
For so many years, she had thought that after she left, their family would be able to live a good life.
But things had not turned out as she'd hoped, and Tessa's situation was far from okay.
Clara was flustered, gripping her cellphone in her purse as Ivy confronted her. This was not how she
had expected things to go.
âWho...who says I haven't been to see her? I've been taking care of her every single day, okay?
"You're the one who just showed up. Of course, you don't know the ins and outs of it all.
We consulted with different doctors who all said that stroke patients need rest and quiet, and this is
the best place for that! What do you know about it?â
"Oh really? If you've been here every day, then tell me, where's the caregiver?â Ivy asked
nonchalantly, clearly setting a trap that Clara walked right into.
"Where could the caregiver be? She's obviously in Tessaâs room with us. We even hired a
round-the-clock nurse to make sure sheâs never alone.â
âLies! There's no one but herself in the ward.â
Balfour's voice was icy cold as he delivered the accusation.
With both Balfour and Ivy so confidently pressing her, Clara couldn't help but laugh. Sh crossed her
arms with a careless attitude as she retorted, âEven if you two couldn't car less about Mom, you
could at least pretend. Dad and I went out of our way to hire a 24-hour caregiver in case we were
too busy to look after her ourselves. And now you have the nerve to tell me the caregiver isn't
there? So, where is she?â
Clara was secretly pleased that she had insisted on a round-the-clock caregiver. Otherwise, she
wouldn't have been able to justify herself now.
âI know you're usually busy as a big shot actress. But since your movie is already wrapped up, why
couldn't you drop by to see your mom even once? Is it because you've been jealous all these years
that she favored me? If you hadn't been so self-centered, why would Mom have shifted her love
from you to me?
Honestly, it's sad to just sit back and watch. She went through so much to bring you into this world,
and you don't even give her the time of day. Doesn't she at least deserve some gratitude for giving
you life?â
After visiting Tessa, Ivy had decided to let go of the past. But Clara wouldn't stop
provoking her, wearing a thick skin that Ivy found intolerable. Ivy could forget the past,

Balfour noticed the rage building in Ivy and quickly grasped her wrist before she could react,
shaking his head slightly.
âIt's not worth it.â
Ivy looked at Balfour, took a moment to calm down, and then exhaled deeply.
Right, it wasn't worth it. She had a bright future ahead. She got more roles to play, fans to meet,
and so much more to do. All of it was far more important than Clara, and certainly not worth her
getting her hands dirty.
With a decisive manner, Ivy grabbed Balfour's wrist, âLet's go. We don't need to stay here any
longer.â
Clara called out to Ivy a few times, but she didn't look back. Yet todayâs recordings were more than
enough.
âHa, you wretch, I'll make sure you taste the agony of falling from grace.â
Clara muttered to herself, her eyes still stung as she watched Balfour and Ivy's hands tightly clasped
together. How could such a man be so blind as to fall for her?
